Why do people get so ass mad over cemetery shoots? As long as they aren't being disrespectful to the graves by hanging off them or spreading their vag all over them then I see no problems if the photos are in good taste. I mean, people go and take photos of and inside of famous cemeteries all the time in touristy locations and literally no one fucking cares. It's kind of a false equivalent, famous persons grave takes on a different connotation, and I'm sure people do care, the public are assholes who enjoy leaving graffiti in their wake. As aggravating as it is for other fellow patrons who have deceased on the same plot, they've in a way become public property. But that's not common and has nothing to do with the typical plot. If I'm visiting my dead in private and I saw people prancing around taking photos while I'm trying to grieve I'd find it pretty childish. It's pretty embarrassing to be honest, it's high school level shit, it's neither clever nor edgy, it's really just boring.

There was this era during Evanescence's heyday where it seemed like every gawfik edgelord wanted to do a dumb photoshoot in the graveyard, picnic in the graveyard, go read books on somebody else's grave, talk about how much they love graveyards and cemetaries in general and aren't freaked out by dead bodies and ghosts, etc, etc. A lot of the photoshoots were low quality on top of being disrecpectful, stepping on tombstones and whatnot, plus there's a photoset somewhere out there where there was no grave gymnastics, but the person took especial care to take a very clear photo of a random stranger's grave so that they could laugh at someone being named "Butte, Clarke". I'm not sure if they also mooned the grave in honor of his name.

I don't know about everybody else, but for those of us who lived through that, any mention of a graveyard shoot and it brings back memories. So many bad, blurry photos. So many fugly gawfick emo people with no skills using eyeliners. So many terrible edgelords. I guess by this point a gothic lolita with a dead bird on her shoulder, posing in a graveyard instead of taking a normal outfit shot, is going to come across as yet another pretentious goth, using an overused, cliched setting.

I'm not what it's like in other countries but in the UK there are lots of really old graveyards which haven't had anyone buried in them for hundreds of years - so you're not likely to run into any mourners. Would be totally fine to take photos in them.

Short version: Because that's literally what it is.

Blog version: Black people or people with that type of hair have a different hair texture - their hair will dread naturally and nicely without having it put a whole lot of effort in and without damaging it. They can wash it normally as well.

White people or anyone else with a straight type of hair texture has the wrong hair texture for dreads - people can go on and on about X and Y white cultures having dreads but at the end of the day it's not natural for that type of hair texture, and it's not the same as a black person's dreads. When our hair has dreads, it literally is damaged and to make your hair like that you pretty much have to stop washing/taking care of your hair properly. There's methods white people have to use to wash their dreads a certain way because if they don't, they can grow mold. That doesn't happen with black people's dreads. White people dreads are also permanently tangled and matted hair - if someone doesn't want them anymore they need to cut them off or shave.

The best illustration of this natural vs unnatural thing is the example of a komondor ("mop dog) dog vs a dog with matted, long fur. On a komondor the long "dreads" of fur are completely natural for the dog, there's nothing unhealthy about them. Conversely a dog with long, matted fur is indicative of improper grooming. The mats may be painful for the dog, and the tangles are permanent and need just to be shaved off completely.

Just to throw my two cents in as well, historically cemeteries were used as park space by the general public. There were no dedicated parks where you could stroll through and have a picnic. That's what cemeteries were for. You could bring your whole family for the day and just sit and enjoy the scenery. They would even play games on the lawn. Back then nobody cared if you spilled your food all over someone's grave and then somebody else trampled it with their feet whilst chasing a ball.

So if someone's taking a photo with a grave, pretty sure nobody back then would give a shit, and I certainly don't.

Thank you really much for you concrit anons. I realize my updo looks better in person, I'm still experimenting with my hair, because I don't like big headbows or headdresses and don't know what else looks good.
The blouse is actually a vintage blouse with one of those really puffy, silky sleeves and small cuffs. It looks better in person, but I'm still trying out what looks best with MRC. The shoes are pic related. I'd consider them lolita (maybe more classic), I guess they don't show well.

I do wear sweet, but mostly classic. In my opinion (besides sweet being popular and getting a lot into lolita) it may have to do with the fact that pastels and bright colors 'pop' better on us. I've gotten a lot of those comments from other lolitas such as 'lavender looks really good on your skin tone!' 'bright colors make me look washed out, it looks much better on you' kind of comments. Though I'm not one for super sweet OTT stuff, so I can't speak on that. Just giving my 2 cents.

I actually really love your shoes, but I think they don't really fit your coord. The pattern on them clashes and looks like something that'd be better suited for classic. I have that bitter colorway and know what a pain it is to get sweet shoes in that specific shade.

For your blouse, it's not terrible, but I think a generally good rule is to use maybe one or two minor offbrand pieces per coordinate. I think literally everything I see on you besides the JSK is offbrand and it kind of shows.

I also agree about the updo not really suiting your face. I think it ages you a bit. Maybe have your hair down or a cute stylized short hairstyle.

Even in the thumbnail I can tell that the lace is cheap... it's one of those cheap lacy body stockings you can get for like $10 online. Her bra looks nicer but that is pushing the bounds too far on lolita. She's too exposed and detracts from the typical lolita silhouette. Plus her hair/wig looks majorly ratty. Like super frizzy which just cheapens the look. I didn't even notice the bat headdress until an anon pointed it out. I'll give her credit for the concept, design-wise its a better ero look than other attempts but she reached too far and looks unpolished as well, so her execution falls flat.
