Idk about that anon last year was linecon. It took 2 hours for me to get my pass and I really didnt enjoy that when its 100F. I waited on a line to get into the DR. AA was ridiculously crowded and any panels I wanted to go to were full even 40mins before the start time. I was happy about a move but I wish they had gone into NYC rather than AC. More variety of hotels, can get one a while away and take the subway. AC is disgustingly expensive because they are desperately trying to cling to whatever life that trash hole still has. Its the same distance for me from Somerset so that's okay but I'm just not to thrilled with the move. I'll be going this year all 3 days but its really going to determine whether I go next year or not. I'll be in lolita all three days. Never had time to make a new cosplay this year.

Dude are you serious? Anext outgrew somerset back in like what? 2013? People bitched about the overcrowding so they moved to AC since way bigger venue, but now people are bitching about that.

So tell me, if not AC, where would you move anext to where theres at /least/ 3-4 hotels, a bigass convention center to hold everyone comfortable for the next few years, and has plenty of food locations and things to do in between downtime.

NYC is just as bad as AC (saying so from going to nycc and nyaf before it was disbanded) Hotels in nyc are expensive af unless it's a shithole, far as balls from the convention center, or you have connections. I've literally been on the subway in lolita and got 0 attention. Its NYC no one gives a shit except maybe curious tourists. You could sit there in a massive dick costume and no one would care. If someone does bother you they would have done it regardless.

AC just sucks but I'm going to give it a chance. There is a train that runs directly to the con center from outside of the city so I may stay outside near the station. Worse to worst I'll just chill at a casino and drink.

I think the bigger issue with NYC is finding adequate space. Unless they try to go after Javits (which would probably be fucktons of money), there really aren't that many huge venues in the city.

I'd love to see a medium sized con back in NYC, but it looks like we're stuck with the overcrowded clusterfuck that's NYCC, and scrappy little new cons.

The New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center 150000sq ft double of the old spot. And now because it's in Edison New Jersey there's so many Hotel options. They probably did it for the money, Because it was probably so cheap to put it in Atlantic City because it's a shit hole. I legit was trying to go this year what a group of friends and every review of every Hotel I've read said that this place does not protect the guests drunk people come in at night. The best places we're about in 1000. If AC is so shady the prices shouldn't be expensive. I found even more funny that if you book for the week before or for the week after prices go down and so drastically it's not even funny.

The Edison convention center has no meeting rooms and one tiny hotel on site and the next hotel is a mile+ away. NYC has a massive lack of mid sized convention space. I really wish the new Meadowlands Convention Center Proposal eventually goes through.

The Meadowlands is good but it's smaller then GSC. But the hotel situation is way better. Only pick Edison because it's twice the size.

So, is there going to be any sort of meet up? Does anyone even want to meet up? I heard that last year's was only with like half a dozen people, but it was still fun.

Vince (who runs ANEXT) even said himself they did extensive research on venues in CT, PA, NY, and NJ and the best fit for the con was indeed Atlantic City. The venue wasn't too big (like PA Convention Center and Javits), still not crazy far away from the old venue, and there is eatery. Yes the hotel situation does suck being pricey and AC isn't exactly the best town around...but the convention center is really nice inside and perfect for AnimeNEXT. They outgrew the Meadowlands long ago and the Garden State Exhibit Center was outgrown as well. Edison venue does not exactly work for ANEXT either. The AC Convention Center gives them 500k Square feet and they are only using half of it the first year.

Zenkaikon has a similar problem too where it needs a bigger venue than the Lancaster County CC, but the PA Convention is too pricey/big to move into and the con cannot make back money moving there......

I was at last year's /cgl/ meetup.

There was only a few of us, we were bored so we made up a game on the spot where we took different anime archtypes and drew parts of each character on paper and tried to make a shitty anime pilot out of it. I think I still have one of the pics somewhere.

There was somebody stalking our meetup and posting pictures of us from different angles, I thought that was pretty good. After the meetup I ran into some another /a/nons, we only talked cause I was behind them and saw them browsing /a/ on their phones so I decided to strike up a conversation. They were pretty cool.

I'm not sure if I'll go this year but if I do i'll be down for a /cgl/ meetup. I know a few people from here that will be there as well and we're all friendly.

Never been to anime next before, what can I expect?

Ive only gone to boston prior but recently boston has turned to liquid shit con so Im hoping for a better con in the NE.

So my foot got fucked up and I can barely walk, However I still want to go since I'm my friend's ride and I don't want to have the plans get cancelled just because I turned into a cripple.
