If you get bad concrit, though, then you should silently ignore it. I got repeated concrit on an outfit I did a while back that I felt was bad (the crit, not the coord), but it was repeated so I assumed that I was in the wrong. Next time I tried to coordinate the dress, I went with the repeated concrit, wasn't comfortable with the result but again figured I was wrong because a few people felt I should change X, and then got torn up on CGL over how terrible X looked. Half that crit even came from CGL, so from that point on if someone gave concrit that I felt was going to look bad/really disagreed with, I would/will just politely thank them for the suggestion, say I'll consider it, and then flush that idea down the drain.

I use Angelus paint, but I've also used floral pray paint. Look up cosplayer tutorials and you'll find a whole list of stuff you can do.

In terms of color, I would say try not to go lighter shades. I've kept all mine the same color they were bought in, with the exception of a white pair I painted gold. I don't know if the paints would do a good job of covering up the original shade if it's really dark you know?
