Old thread >>8991658

Spring is fadding away in the northern hemisphere. How do you say cool in 100+ weather and still stay lolita?
And for you southern hemisphere folks, I'm sure you're excited to finally break out your long sleeve blouses and coats again!
>>

I wear JSKs with chiffon boleros instead of blouses and carry a parasol everywhere, it's a good look and much breezier than OPs but unfortunately it gets boring very fast. Not looking forward to summer at all, to be honest.

>>8996406
I laughed pretty hard at this but then thought about it and honestly, it's not the worst idea. I live in a state that's hot as balls and forego wigs/blouses (boleros are lifesavers) to keep cool.
>>
>>8996394
Parasols are a must and I carry a fan. I want to invest in a cage skirt that can keep my petti off of my legs.
>>
I hate summer, I have to wear long sleeves no matter what because I don't want skin cancer and feel paranoid with just sunscreen, so I end up staying inside most of the times.
>>

How do you wear lolita if it's that hot? I dont't even wear makeup once it passes 32°C because I just sweat it off.
>>
I'm fine. I'm not bothered by heat. Its cold I cant tolerate.
>tfw: you live in a frozen tundra for 8 out of 12 mos.

Otherwise chiifon, boleros, no blouse, ankle socks.
>>
>>8996456
Honestly, most people don't spend much time outside in those temperatures unless they are at the beach or something
>>

Spring fading, thats cute it's been in the low 40s here in the Northeast US all week and I hate it. I can't wait for sweaty weather bring it on.

As far as the UK is concerned, what 100+ weather? Everyone in the UK's been complaining because it's 24C at the moment (~75F). It ain't going to get much hotter.

Last year I wore velvet to a meet in July and I wasn't even hot.

maximum jelly

it hits around 95F+ (35C+) in southern New England, but we have all of Old England's humidity to go along with it.

my house has lousy AC so getting ready for summer meets is often a literal pain. i tend to only wear casual in the summer and avoid tights and synthetic fabrics, but even just applying makeup can feel disgusting and fruitless.

Huh, I thought they'd be everyone's first mention. T-shirt material, breathable, burando cred, lolita look and some are narrow enough you also get an excuse to skip the petticoat. Can't get easier than that.

>>
>>8997214

...............It's t-shirt material, anon. Sweat usually evaporates through it, which they don't when you're wearing a polyester jsk with polyester lining and a polyester chiffon bolero. So a jsk +bolero should actually be sweatier than a cutsew dress.

Or at least, that's how it works for most people.
>>
>>8997344
You can do it, anon! A month and a half isn't very long, it'll pass before you know it. Think of the finds you'll be able to score when you get there.
>>
>>8997231
Wow only 40? I remember hearing stories as a kid from my relatives who live in other countries talk about how it hit 40 once, and a bunch of people died. I was so shocked, but apparently at the time no one really owned an AC unit or anything either. Every time I visit my relatives and they whine and complain about the weather, i just hop on the internet and show them the current temperature of my city to get them to stop
>>
>>8997376
I might be from the same area of the person you're quoting and yeah, it's pretty common for elderly people to die from heatstroke or dehydration when the weather hits 30+. Many care homes are overcrowded and understaffed and when all the grannies insist on sitting outside in the sun instead of staying indoors with AC the care personnel has a hell of a time keeping them all healthy and hydrated. Luckily my own grams hates everything and is perfectly content staying inside and grumbling at the TV all day.

Also I honestly don't really care how hot it is in other places, if my location is hot enough that it's making me miserable I'll complain all I want. Summer in my area is usually 18-23 so when it suddenly swings above 30 it's a big shock to my system.

that Lief really needs some better quality control... I had already sent them a message on FB noting the difference from the color of the stock photos, asking about the possibility of an exchange, and they basically wrote it off as "some factory dyes differ, it's not a defect sorry" and said all their current stock is the same color. I'm not really sure what to do about it from here. I'll be the first to admit I'm kind of a pussy when it comes to confrontations, but I feel like I should ask for at least a partial refund because I'm really not happy with the dress I received :/

The Innocent World randosel are sold by Takashimaya which is a high end department store. Since randosel are expensive usually and this is brand, it's doubly expensive. But you can purchase it here

I have seen chiffon half tops all over Taobao. I ordered a few. to wear under jsks. It's a cooler alternative to cotton and cheaper than a full blouse. I've seen them go for $6-$15. Is there a reason why the release dates for the Misty Sky re-re-re-release have been so weird? I mean, it released in Japan on a Thursday and AP USA are releasing it this Wednesday. That's not typical.
>>
>>8997478

I've had the print of their gold carousel print fade horribly on me, but they were nice enough to give me a discount on their newer release. That's a more obvious flaw though.

Perhaps you could try to return the dress if it really bothers you? Honestly I don't really think the difference in colors is very obvious in photos.

Antiperspirant wrecks your shirts, but all you need is a little washcloth to dab any sweat and a little atomizer of body mist. If you sweat smells weird, daiso sells little menthol body wipes you can fit in your bag. Luckily lots of people in Japan carry fans, so you can use those without looking too weird.

Anyone else getting their eternal carnival dresses in the mail?
I got mine today, it's super gorgeous.

However, remember when anons were questioning what the measurements were even though the peplum jsk was tiered? Welp I'm here to tell you that the measurements are accurate, would not recommend past a 90cm bust, and the waist probably can't stretch much more past 80cm. I'd like to keep it, but idk if I want to go through the trouble of alterations.

I bought a randoseru for uni, and it's impractical.
The arm straps are too short, and I've once hurt my shoulder trying to get my arms in. I can fit some A4 books, but they have to be folded and curled to fit. It's just too impractical if you have more than 1 book.

So I have a question about Baby's blacklisting policy. Basically I reserved a JSK but an expensive emergency just came up that will make paying for the JSK difficult. If I explain the situation will they blacklist me anyway, even though I've ordered from them in the past with no problems? Or if I just let the payment deadline run out will I receive an email saying I'm blacklisted? Basically how screwed am I? I hear they are really ban happy so this is stressing me out but there's really nothing I can do.

Also, does the ban extend to their US stores too or just the Japanese online shop?
>>
>>9000215
You're fucked.
>>
>>9000215

>>
>>9000215
Why would they accept your excuse. Not their issue you fucked up, you still owe them money. This is how businesses work.

I believe they ban your PayPal email/ address so it's a blanket ban. Not sure as I actually pay for my stuff.
>>
>>9000215
Surely you have a credit card or something you could use to pay? I know emergencies come up so that sucks but at the same time...it's not really their problem. If it was someone like meta, maybe you would be able to ask for an extra week but since it's Baby you're probably shit out of luck. If you are unable but don't want to be blacklisted I would use a cc or maybe try to find a friend or family member and ask if they could loan you money.
>>
>>9000241
Yeah, well, my dog >>>> some dress I don't need. It's ridiculous that they don't at least have a one warning policy for customers who have bought from them multiple times before. I've never heard of anyone banning people so easily. But whatever, I guess.

>>9000260
Hmm, I didn't think about asking for an extra week. Looking at the confirmation email again, it does say they may grant extensions so I'll try that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for your condolences, haha. I sent Lief another message asking about a refund, and of course they'll accept it back, but they can't refund the original shipping and I'd have to pay another $30 to get it back to Korea. Does anyone here have experience with USPS?

TL;DR incompetent seller sent a lolita item to my previous address and the tracking on it says it's been "forwarded to a new address" because it was undeliverable to the one I don't live at anymore, obviously.
What does this mean? Should it eventually get forwarded to my address, and is that sorting process going to take longer if I live in a notoriously congested area?

I know the facility of where it's at, it's just a 20 mile drive away from me and I don't feel like chewing out the seller to reimburse me for that kind of inconvenience if it doesn't need to be.
>>
>>9000460
Have you ever tried like, calling the post office where it is and asking them?
>>
>>9000467
Tried. Phone is busy no matter how many times I call. Checked yelp reviews about the phone issue and apparently people have left one star and say that they purposefully take the phone off the receiver for that location. Post office people here are shit.
>>
>>9000472
Wow thats awful, usps where I am is great.

Does it not say online what this "new adress" is anywhere? If I were you honestly id just drive to the damn office, but then again im use to driving 20 miles and more daily
>>
>>9000460
how the hell did they even have your previous address unless you didn't update your paypal
>>
>>9000474
Nope, unfortunately.

Ugh, I know. I used to be so spoiled with one previous usps office. Another time a package was sent to a previous residence out of state (my error) and a nice usps lady called me because she knew I had moved away and wanted to personally forward it to me.

Ever since I moved to this area there's so many people because of an industry boom. The usps locations are majorly understaffed and as a result, many of the workers are jaded just because of their work volume and demand.

I'm just already salty at this seller because she screwed the address, made me wait months for this item, and I won't even be getting it in the size I ordered so I'll have to ship it back once I get it anyway. I'll give it a few more days, I hope I don't have to shell to drive out there as well after all this.
>>
>>9000478
Easy.
I lived at one location and paid using said address.
Within the 6 months it took her to finish my order, I had a change of address.
I sent her a message on her fb page informing her of the address change. She acknowledged it and said she noted it.
Well, she didn't note it because she went with the address listed on the shopify.

Please don't defend that.
>>
>>9000460
Do not call the office directly.
>Mine leaves the phone off the hook too.
Some of them... they just do this, I'm sorry, it sucks.

Call the main post number
>It's the 1800 something one
I know this seems backwards to go through the main number, but it was faster for me because you speak to a person that same day, and that person sends the order up or down or whatever the chain of command from there, instead of trying to get your local office to finally answer.

File a claim with the tracking number if they are unable to pinpoint its location right there
>They will contact whatever local post it's at with the number they DON'T post publicly.

Give them all the info you know
>old and new address, and let them know if you set up mail forwarding and when in case it is being forwarded as it should

Be friendly, articulate, and direct
>pretty sure you don't need me to tell you that, but in general, polite and direct has gotten me through every paypal, ebay, and courier dispute I've ever had with either reinbursment or item in hand in 5 business days or less
>>

I'm not new to selling but I'm new to selling shoes. For a cheaper pair of shoes, is it viable to send them in a bubble mailer envelope, wrapped in more bubble wrap? Or should I just ship them in a box to be safe?
It doesn't matter to me either way, but shipping from my country is quite expensive so I'm trying to cut costs for buyers.
>>
>>9000460
Did you do the USPS change of address/mail forwarding form as you should always do when you move?
>>
>>9000666
Shipping shoes in an envelope sounds like a terrible idea. Just use a box.

Anyone got any insight on this?
>>
>>9000666

I think you're better off working things out with the buyer, that way she can chose herself whether she wants to play it safe but expensive with a box, or cheaper but with a little more risk with a bubble mailer envelope, less blame on you if the shoes do arrive dented or scuffed even though you're trying to do a nice thing for her.

For the shoes in bag, you want to avoid them rubbing against each other, and they need to stand up to the weight of being thrown around and other things being piled on top. So wrapping each shoe in some paper for the first, and stuffing them with more paper/cardboard for the second, or if you have those stick things for stuffing boots/keeping toe boxes open, use those as well. You can put bubble wrap or cardboard around the shoes after that as well. Don't put plastic (bubble wrap) directly in contact with pleather, heat makes both materials soft and weird, so there's a chance they melt and stick together if you're shipping to a hot-weather country. Don't use newspaper either, the ink could transfer. Then Wrap and tape both shoes together so they don't bang around in their envelope.

I still wouldn't send stilettos this way, but lolita shoes tend to be chunky, so I think this should be (mostly) okay.
>>
>>9000978
What insight are you looking for? It's a tea party.

Hi everyone! I've tested out both tinychat and google hangouts, and they both have their merits and faults.
Tinychat allows people not video chatting to still text chat, which could be nice if more than the max for streaming join. They also let you join with a nickname instead of your real name, which could be nice since we're all just strangers on the internet. However, the video window is kinda small and they want you to pay for the option to go full screen.
Google hangouts seems pretty nice, but as its connected to your gmail account people might have issues with that. The video screen is much larger and can go full screen no problem, but I don't believe there is a chat box function.
I'm leaning towards hangouts because I've got an issue with sites that charge for a basic function such as full screen, but if people think the option to text chat is necessary we can use that.
>>
>>9001283
Yes, finally, a 2016 cut that won't look awful on me.

>>9001321
I like the idea of google hangouts. It feels like while it cuts out a bit of anonymity it will also prevent random lurkers and robots from coming in just to shit it up.

>>
>>9002900
Umm well I'm just a daily lolita and I love this print. I really wear dresses a lot, and in the hot season I don't wear blouses underneath many pieces, just some bolero or shawl on top.
>>
>>9002148
>Mfw some of these girls just joined my comm
>Mfw I have no face
>>
>>9002916
I wore mine with a thin cami underneath and just threw it in the wash same day on gentle, hung to dry. Everything came out fine! I have the wine though, and don't plan to wash it every single time I wear it. But since I went blouse-less, I gave it a wash. I'd be cautious with the not washing the white if you're planning on letting your pits touch the dress. Yellowing can and will happen. And that's a bitch to correct
>>
>>9002931
Which washing powder and/or other chemistry did you use, anon? And are your print parts still mushy (as I were told they tend to coarse from water)?
>>
>>9002270
Caps?
>>
>>9002957
They're still very soft! I just used a small amount of tide. I don't have much experience with washing delicate items, but tide has been really good to all of my lolita clothes!

Are Cyperous much better than Brightlele wigs? I am looking to buy a new one and while brightlele are cute, if cyperous looks more natural I'd like to try them

Dates are Friday May 13th at 11.pm EST and Saturday May 14th at 1pm EST.I think I'll pick google hangouts, it seems like it works better! My gmail is thefabledfawn.gmail.com, but I don't think I'll have the exact hangout link until I start broadcasting tomorrow.
I'm going to make a pot of tea and some tea sandwiches and have a grand old time!

Thank you so much for setting this up!

If you go out every weekend or once or twice weekly in Lolita, and your drycleaners charges based on categories, as many i've seen do, they may charge you a higher price for "costume" or "evening dress" or something like that because there is more work involved in cleaning the layers and details.

>tfw my drycleaners charged me lower price for "children's dress" for months before they finally put 2 and 2 together that it was my clothing.
>>
>>9003127

Thank you for the dates again tea-chan. And thank you for organizing <3
>>
I don't know if this is the place to ask, but how fast is wunderwelt's shipping (to US)? I'm thinking about ordering an item from there but I need it for an event next week.
>>
new Last Week Lolita News, finally!

only complaint is her vocal intonation can get repetitive. girl if you're reading this please share your image macros.
>>
>>9003162
jfc, anon. Where do you live? I rarely get anything dry cleaned by a professional now that I have my own garment steamer, but I've paid less than half of that for my JSKs.

>>9003199
>tfw my drycleaners charged me lower price for "children's dress" for months before they finally put 2 and 2 together that it was my clothing.

nice.

That kind of reminds me of going to places like Claire's or Justice to find cute jewelry and being asked by the clerk if I'm buying for a girl's birthday gift.

It's EMS, so it's pretty fast. I paid with card, waited for them to send me a shipping quote (took 3 days), paid for shipping via PayPal which took another 2 days for them to invoice me. Maybe if you pay everything on card it'll be faster, but I was in no rush so idk. The shipping itself only took 4 days though.
>>
>>9003217
My last order I placed my order on the 15th, received and paid the invoice same day. It was shipped the next and I received it on the 19th. The longest it's taken for me to get an order from them was about ten days, but that was during the middle of December. If you get EMS, I think it's safe to say you'll get it in time.

I'm not sure if I should put this here or the help thread, which looks like it's mostly about cosplay. I might purchase from AP Japan soon but I also want to get some things from Cerise. What shopping service is best for a first time user? Could I do them both together, or is it best just to use Tenso for AP? I'd appreciate anyone's advice.
>>
Is it almost lucky pack season yet?
>>
Has anybody received their nameless poem preorder yet? I got mine from my-lolita-dress and I haven't heard back since. It's my first order from them and now I'm feeling sort of uneasy about it.
>>
>>9003478
It's been said before but you need to be patient with pre-orders. Especially from Ista Mori. They're known for taking longer than promised to release stuff.
>>
I need a bit of help with sewing. Could someone who owns a JSK with a gathered skirt take a picture of the lining where it attaches to the bodice? I'm curious if darts are used or if the lining is gathered too. Thanks in advance!
>>
>>9003533
Usually lining is gathered just like the outer fabric
>>
>>9003544
Easy enough, thanks so much
>>
>>9002148
Those salty tears. It's delicious since they are the reason why I can't get any dress on the AP Japan website
>>
>>9003478
I know they were meant to have it by now but I emailed Linda and she said it's going to be another month. So there's that.

Does anyone know if the dress in pic related is going to be a new release?
>>
>>9002898
As a fellow daily lolita I'm gonna say it might be worth it to just wear it less. Even if it's your favorite piece, it's made of super delicate material that's not easy to wash and it's not like you can just get a new one cheaply once this one's worn out.
>>
>>9003229

Yes ! I was so sad when she stopped making videos for a bit, but I guess people have lives
I love her and her sense of comedy. I dont mind her vocals as I feel they are appropriate sounding as a news reporter haha
>>
>>9002898
I don't own holy lantern but other dresses with flocky prints by different brands (not AP, though)...I've hand-washed them all multiple times and they are still like new.

I've ordered from them twice and both times were incredibly fast. Got my package within 5 days both times.

I just got my eternal carnival peplum jsk. I decided to try it on over a cami just in case (i have a 98cm bust) It did fit (at least the shirring stretched enough) I wouldn't recomend it for anything over that.
>>
>>9004231

Thanks, anon. Mine is being shipped with other things so I won't get it until the end of the month, I'm very happy to hear I won't have to prepare for a tearful sales post after all.

I find it weird that AP skimped on the shirring for a dress with an actually defined waist, but give generous shirring to those high-waisted dresses that only look good on short flat people. Wish I knew what they were thinking when they put the numbers down and okayed the dress.

That's the joke within the family. Pants for black woman actually a lot better, honestly. Usual stuff that fits my ass is too loose around the waist.

I love shorts, but hate how they look on me. Like I adore the aesthetic of pumpkin shorts so much, but last time I tried wearing it myself, it looked like diapers.

I've been hanging out for this, athough she seems a little less animated and sassy lately idk. I just hope she actually keeps it up especially as btb is turning to shit and seems to have less humorous posts each week.
