Time for a dream cosplay thread! Post the fancy/ difficult cosplays that you're working towards, the obscure cosplays that you can't get a group for, your favorite designs, characters that you love but don't suit you, or other dream cosplays.
An optical camouflage dress for this particular manifestation of Sharon Apple. (See gif)
The technology is already here.

Partly because the props would be hard, but mostly because I'm 6'0 and made the mistake of getting swole before realizing I wanted to dress up like a girl.
because I'm dumb and I just don't know what the fuck I'm doing even if I have the body and skin tone for it.
Tiny Tina has been my dream cosplay for a looong time. I just don't have the skills yet :'(
sighs.
Doable but I want to get the whole team. I don't know any king of fighters cosplayers in the area though.
Tfw no ballet skills, training, or experience... why even try when I won't be able to pose nicely for photos. She is one of my all-time favorite characters but I just don't know what to do in regards to not getting eaten alive by rabid 15-year old ballerinas.
>>8989642
Good luck anon! Iowa is pretty cute. I'm doing Murakumo's Valentines art as my first big prop piece.
I've been gathering tons of EVA foam and such for this.
>>8991334
Shit forgot pic.
Stuck between her or Sakuya.
Some are doable now, but most are still a faraway dream.
>>8991335
epyon is bae
I've seen cosplays of pretty much all of these but I'm nowhere close to the skill level gone into them.
Never gonna have the skill level/disposable income for any of these except maybe Sakuyamon.
>>8989662
You'e not dumb, just gotta know the right technique... which I don't but I do support your choice because I love Dirty Pair. I want to do an actual duo cosplay.
>>8989662
??? It's literally booty shorts and a top?
Look up some sewing tutorials, that isn't even remotely difficult
>>8991861
>that isn't even remotely difficult
To someone with sewing experience perhaps not. I showed a cousin who's done tailoring a cosplay and she instantly knew how to make the whole thing. Wig included. I on the other hand get stumped on the barest of basics. I understand your point of view, but please try to see ours.
>>8991884
Okay sure but the whole point is that you have to try before you can say it's hard. That's a beginner project at best, if anything it's a good project to jump into.
I jumped straight into sewing cosplays and taught myself how to use a sewing machine. My friend did a joint cosplay with me and made her whole outfit from scratch, when the only thing she'd ever sewn before was a pillow in textiles class 4 years beforehand.
Google some tutorials and get practicing, otherwise you're just delaying something super simple for no reason
>>8991892
>try sewing tube dress
>get completely wrong fabric
>ruin entire 3 yards via cutting incorrectly
Believe me I've tried things on my own and everything is awful. But I do intend on practicing more because I'm done with chinese commissions.
>>8991222
Honestly, ballet poses aren't that hard (although unless you're a ballerina who is practicing a lot, you should be trying anything en pointe). It'd be the same as any other pose with any other character. Study pics of the character in conjunction with real ballerinas. You could do it anon!
I'd love to do Yurika in her constellation dress some day, as well as a whole lot more Aikatsu cosplay.
>>8990880
Is that Satan/Ryou Asuka from Devilman? Jesus anon, please make it happen, I'll worship you until the end of eternity
One day I would love to do an adult Kissshot, but I am a dude and I have terrible sewing skills
>>8991928
It might be worthwhile to pick up some cheap fabric to work with. Muslin is good, and sometimes fabric stores like Jo-ann's have smaller scraps of fabric from the ends of the rolls at a discount with some of the clearance stuff.
>>8992035
Don't do this. I'm no ballerina but there's been threads here before specifically dedicated to this topic, where girls who have taken ballet have stated you absolutely should not attempt ballet poses without the proper training to get it right because you could seriously injure yourself.
>>8992261
Oh and by "work with" I mean as a practice thing. Just to get used to sewing and cutting properly and stuff.
>>8992261
I did ballet for 14 years? I mistyped when I posted above, but there are absolutely poses that an untrained person could do, just nothing en pointe (on your tip toes).
Pic related, I think most reasonably coordinated people could do this without hurting themselves.
>>8992345
Thank you for the suggestion anon! Do you have any suggestions for alternatives to pointe shoes that I could wear in photos? It seems like common sense to not wear them around the con and I'm not willing to drop that much cash on pointe shoes that I can't use.
>>8991677
anon are you me? I've had those bottom three in my "want to do at some undetermined point in the future" for a while now
>>8992079
Yes! God I wish I could, he's forever one of my favorite characters.
>>8992508
You could get canvas or leather ballet shoes and sew ribbons instead of elastic. Leather holds its shape a little better and would probably look more like pointe shoes than canvas does.
Pic related, you'd sew the ribbons on where the elastics start, then not attach the ends and tie them around your legs instead.
Otherwise, I'd look and see what other cosplayers have done.
>>8992870
Oh my goodness thanks so much anon. I have seen other cosplayers wearing those but I had no idea what terms to use!
>>8992875
No problem. Dance stores in your area will have them, and they're not super expensive. Walking around in them all day will probably scuff them up pretty good though.
Hope your cosplay turns out wonderfully anon!
My main issue would be sewing her suit. My sewing skills are decent, but I'm awful at altering and drafting patterns.
>>8991780
>Rahxephon
mah nigga.
I'm in despair that I'll never be able to pull it off.
>>8992976
I feel the same about mine
>>8992977
The worst part is having a character you'd love to cosplay because they're so similar in personality to you, but your looks won't cut it. I could rock that shit if I just looked a bit different.
>>8992982
Yeah, it sucks! I'm cosplaying him anyway but I know I'm gonna look like shit and I'll never really do him justice.
>>8992991
I like your style. Maybe someday I'll gather up the courage to give my dream cosplay a shot. I'm already a depressed glasses wearing dork so that's half the battle right there right? It may take some extra effort but I'm gonna do what it takes to rock that shit. You do the same anon, alright? I believe in you.
>>8992692
Aion has my favorite mmo armor ever. The concept art is so beautiful.
>tfw lv 64 never
>>8993108
That plate armour is gorgeous. Which is your favourite?
>>8991610
Oh my god, same. Like how would one pull that off? Does she even have nipples?
i'm currently building my #1 dream costume (Godoka) but i'd love to do Serenity one day as well.
>>8992870
>>8992931
Dancing Tutu cosplayer here! I've used demi-pointe shoes for the 'pointe look' without actual pointe shoes. But any ballet shoe won't be fun to walk around in for a whole day because that's just not what they're designed for. So make sure you also bring along a comfy pair of shoes to change into (or appropriate ballet flats) so you feet can get some relief. :D
It's happeniiiiing
>>8992128
I hope that more people cosplay Kiss-Shot now that Kizu is out (sort of).
I don't think I'll ever be hot enough.
>>8993169
I can't pick one. I generally lean more towards plate in general though, design wise. I main a gunslinger so unfortunately my in game options are limited.
The Dress of Light is easily one of my favorites though.
>>8993315
yeeeeEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS
>>8993315
omg best of luck anon!
I've always loved avalon code's designs hnnng
>>8993108
>chain armor designs
>why
Chanter here. All I want is to look badass, not wear a dress everywhere. Wish I could wear plate.
Good luck with the cosplay dreams, anon!
>>8993383
Thanks ! I did Duran last year and I wanted to try something more challenging. Plus the fact that I really like Heath and I've never seen anyone cosplay him.
No one wants to get into Aikatsu like they do Love Live...
I think I've finally got the skills to make this, so I'm going to do it. It's a shame that the manga is rather obsure though.
>>8993596
Because there's barely a plot and the characters are vastly more annoying (Otome killed me), it's much longer, and the beginning CGI is intolerable. Love Live also has more outfits. I feel like the second season of LL was probably worse than Aikatsu though. The first one was vastly better because it actually had a plot.
Like I feel bad for these anons with Aikatsu plans but it's just really hard to get into.
One day...
>>8993901
Chill, bro.
>like Love Live's cgi isn't fucking horrid, too
Aikatsu is slow, but everyone is likable and the outfits are really cute. Not a competition. Love Live has cute shit, too, Anon just wishes it wasn't so impossible to see other girls want to do it.
>>8992977
Same character, I'll probably make the outfit this summer but the wig is going to be a bitch to procure
I'm going to attempt her next year and should have time and resources to do it, I think I can do it but I'm already stressed just looking at her.
I'm planning to do a hajime ichinose cosplay before that though so I think it'll give me the experience with materials and lights i'll need on a smaller, easier scale before attempting Mercy. Her wings are what scare me the most, since I've never made feather wings, let alone armor ones, and I have a bad habit of making pieces heavier than they needed to be.
I want to do some kind of huge suicune gaijinka, Red contacts, fancy patterned fabric, big transparent headpiece, flowing purple wig, ugh. I just love everything about the idea of a suicune gaijinka.
This is cowslip's iteration, which I think is nice, but probably not one I'd do exactly. Theyre nice to get inspirtation from, though.
The sewing is easy, but as a girl with a round face, tanned skin, and dark hair/eyes, I'd probably look like a hot mess and a different character. I'm also too shy to attempt crossplay.
>>8993878
I wish I could see it anon! I wanted to do her Beserker body but I keep putting it on the back burner because it has armour.
>>8993907
I didn't think I was being that salty, anon. I even said I felt bad for anons with Aikatsu plans because it's hard to get into. I don't think anything I said made it sound like a competition, especially since I said that the second season of LL was worse than Aikatsu. I was just trying to explain why it's harder to watch, since anon literally said
>No one wants to get into Aikatsu like they do Love Live...
and I thought they might want an explanation.
>>8993910
Five Wits is restocking their wig in June, I sent them an email since they have my favorite wig for him (ignoring their typically shitty stock photos).
GuP Panzer IV cosplay, about 1:4 scale.
Only problems are where I'd store it after building it, and actually getting it to conventions.
Not to mention conventions in my country have shit taste instead of places like AX or Otakon which would be much more suited for it...
>>8993992
Oooh hey I'm that first anon! Yeah, that's understandable since I think the amount of episodes is kind of daunting/plus the bad CGI for the first 10 eps, but the main reason I haven't been able to get a group because people I've asked say it's not as well known as Love Live so there's no point at all...
On the plus side, when I do find people interested they're very well invested or passionate about it! But I agree it's def not for everybody, and LL is much easier to get into. As a fan of both, I'm just grateful for more cute girls and outfits though!
I'll drop a bunch.
>>8995626
Final form Xion has been my dream cosplay for years
>>8991222
Feel you anon, Princess Tutu is on my list too, but I feel that without knowing ballet it falls flat
>>8992950
its basically a space burka.
>>8996374
Who's the fourth one? I love the design.
>>8992508
i cosplayed princess tutu several years ago with a friend and we used pointe shoes for the competition (although we did not actually attempt to go en pointe, we just wanted points for accuracy) and wore regular leather ballet shoes while walking around the con. I'd definitely recommend the regular leather ballet flats! Pointe shoes hurt like a bitch to walk in and really aren't worth the hassle. People will love your costume even if you wear regular ballet flats.
>>8996424
Fille Chintreuil from End Breaker. There is about no information about the game but I just love this design so much
I'd love to cosplay Hitomi but I can't find anyone who'd make it for me (I can't sew.. let alone work with Denim.
>>8990880
How would you even do this?
>>8996429
Maybe you could go with something like the melissa ballerins
>>8996527
make 5 sets of wings
white wig
makeup
nicely painted muscle-y bodysuit with a white crotch area (and all your junk tucked in with a dance belt) OR actually be fit and wear some nude/white shorts to match.
and those 'invisible' shoe things I guess
in theory, anyway
Not confident enough in my body to do this...which I guess is something I have in common with the character
>>8992345
I also did ballet for a little over 14 years, and I totally agree with you! Plus, I just wanted to mention I find it nice to see a fellow ballerina here.
>>8991780
I'm currently doing Y'shtola with the help of an experienced seamstress, and oh god her top/dress is a fucking pain in the ass to pattern right.
I don't have 1 dream cosplay but a bunch I wanna do but can't because nobody will recognize me.
>>8993996
I've thought about making the STuG iii but i have the same transportation problem.
>>8996527
Annoy alot of people by taking up a lot of space
>>8992261
>you absolutely should not attempt ballet poses without the proper training to get it right because you could seriously injure yourself.
Nah, I took beginner ballet and all the things we did were demi pointe at most, which just about anyone can do. What you're talking about are ballerinas getting all up in arms because some idiot bought point shoes and tried going on their toes.
>>8996688
Please do Nono someday!!!
>>8996815
I really wanna! If only I had a Risa to go with me. I hope all the other people who posted Aikatsu here do it too.
Not anime or game-related, but I'd kill to see someone cosplay Klaus Nomi. I can't pull it off on my own since I don't want to chop off nearly all my hair just to get his look. The cosplayer being able to sing with the Mickey Mouse opera voice and German accent would be amazing as well. Being accompanied by David Bowie and Iggy Pop cosplayers would also be swell. Has anyone here seen a good Klaus somewhere and not just some cheapo, half-assed looking one?
>>8996848
So basically a Venture Bros. group then?
>>8996688
Yes I fucking love Mahou Shoujo Site and Pripara. I just can't make myself pick a MSS character over another cosplan since they're all just school uniforms or casual clothes or fucking Nijimi.
>>8991780
>grandia
Anon, what stone would you like for the ring I'm gonna propose to you with if you ever do this Cosplay?
>>8996885
Yeah, that's basically my reason for not wanting to cosplay it. Feels worthless to do a random school girl outfit that (probably) nobody will recognize in exchange for a different cosplay.
Korosensai
I've seen him done badly before but if I do try it I would go all out and figure out a way to do a couple of flailing tentacle arms, Have his pincer arms and having his color changing head.
>>8997077
Power to you. Speaking of squid-like creatures... this has been on my list for years... all my cons are in the summer in the south. Main reason for not doing it.
>>8997077
Been wanting to do him too anon as a gift for my bf, only thing is he's short and I'm not sure how to give him proportions like koro without getting into weird fursuit building territory.
>>8992960
None of those are from RahXephon, though.
Though I used to have pic related on my list, I can't be assed to make a dress like that anymore.
and Solidus. I really like them.
>>8997648
Ideally, how would someone do the arms? Mannequin arms would either be too heavy or too light to the point where they may snap if bumped against.
>>8997658
I'd guess stuffing long gloves with foam, probably using something stiffer for hands and elbows.
One day I'll achieve my childhood dream of cosplaying as Mitsuki.
tfw white and not confident enough to wear tiny-ass panties like that
>>8998241
good thing egyptians aren't black.
>>8998246
they aren't pasty white either.
I already have the outfit (Tatsuya) + a Lisa cosplayer, but having the FULL PARTY is my dream. A Yukino (not pictured here) as a bonus would be cool too
Urd from Oh My Goddess.
I do not have those boobs. Couldn't even fake it, mine are just shaped different and I didn't inherit the nicest skin in that area anyway.
>>8998241
I feel you, anon. I have many darker skinned characters on my dream cosplay list but Casca (pic related) is the one character I'd like to cosplay the most... I live in Scandinavia and I haven't yet heard that anyone here has had any bigger drama about darkening your skin for cosplay. But I guess internet would kill me if I'd make this cosplay and post pics somewhere... So I guess this will be just a dream for me.
>>8999157
Why do you care what they think? Dark skinned people cosplay characters that are pale as fuck, all the time. Do it. Fuck the haters.
>>8999157
Just do it as you are. I've cosplayed fair skinned characters when I'm the opposite. As long as it's done good, then you should be fine. Besides, there are people who match the character's skin tone but still look horrible because they barely put any effort in.
blue rose is my dream, but i'm not at a comfortable size yet to pull her off
>>8998579
i love maya so much, she's probably my favourite persona character of all time. i would love to cosplay her with a group
>>8999157
I feel like it's mostly the swedish cosplay comm that has problems with that, I don't know about Norway and such but DK doesn't give a shit, so if you're afraid of doing it in scandinavia just go to DK cons and you'll be fine. Follow your dreams anon
I need this cosplay group, I hope I'll find enough people to make this happen
>>8999331
dropped the pic
>>8999333
the dot eyed girl in the background
This monster. I doubt I will ever be able to actually make it to scale, and have everything look good
Someday
>>8999157
Are you able to tan at all, or do you just burn? No one can realistically shame you for cosplaying with a natural tan unless they have an entire kitchen set firmly lodged up their anus.
I'm a light medium complexion normally but I'm half Middle Eastern so I tan very easily. I do characters with a range of skin tones, with whatever my skin currently looks like.
No one has grounds to ride someone's ass about being dark for a dark-skinned character and light-skinned for others if they're not using makeup/paint to achieve the shade. No sense in avoiding sunlight just because you might rile some internet kiddo who thinks the biggest race-related social issue is light-skinned people getting suntans.
>>8999333
i would totally be down for nozomi or eli
mecha sailor moon, I love you. It's from Vainglory
>>8996848
I saw this costume in person at the Bowie exhibit in Chicago. The whole show was magical. I wish they would have allowed photos. ;( I HOPE YOU DO IT
>>8999173
>>8999209
>>8999269
>>8999515
I would feel kind of odd to make this cosplay and leave my skin as white as it is since looking like the character is really important to me. I'm really pale and tanning isn't really an option for me since I'll just burn and get all red... But Casca is much lighter skinned in the new movies (pic related) so I just might do this cosplay go with the new look. I guess using a bit of sun powder isn't really blackfacing since many girl do it everyday to look tanned... I'm from Finland and here making your skin darker for cosplay isn't that big of a deal (yet). I know few people who judge it but I haven't heard that anyone have had any troubles when going to con when using a darker make up.
Anyway, thanks for the cheers, anons! Maybe I'll have to courage to make this cosplay and forget the tumblr opinions. For me this is about looking like the character that I like and that's it. I think it's just a good thing there are darker skinned characters that get attention and that people find awesome and pretty.
i have a need
>>8998241
I'm confused. Where is this from? I tried image searching and ended up on the wikia page, but I still don't get what it is?
>>9000796
It's from monster girl encyclopedia!
>>8993996
Man if you were in the states I would be down to store it for you.
>>9000016
I've used darker theatrical makeup + bronzer for three characters now. I've never been jumped by a tumblrite and most people are impressed by the transformation. But, like you said, don't go insanely dark because typically it just feels "off" because your features and skin color don't fit with each other quite right.
Where do I even start?
My dream cosplay is a Yanme'e from Halo (series of games and related media) [pic related]. Currently only thing stopping me is time to make it, money for materials, and relearning blender to split up the 3d model into manageable parts.
>>8997648

One day....
I'm never reading a manga written by a fashion designer ever again.
Nagano's designs are really neat, though
>>8993947
I'm not trying to be mean because Suicune would make a great costume, but what the fuck is a "gaijinka"?
You meant gijinka, right?
>>8996848

>>8998644
I want to do Skuld one day omg, now we need Belldandy.
i'd love to be taeko (hat girl) but it'd be unrecognizable without a group... it's a shame people only cosplay lil' slugger
>>8993988
Anon, I know what you feel. Almost done with my Ferid cosplay, but I have to practice more masculine make-up.
Primarch of the Death Guard, Mortarion (pic related is his tabletop model for the horus heresy game)
But then again, if I cosplayed as him, I wouldn't be able to actually buy a Death Guard army...
Shit
>>8996309
Fuck, if anyone could pull this off, it would be the coolest thing ever. Good luck anon.
>>8993596
Think about it this way, aikatsu has less cringy and annoying weeabos
>>8996688
Do Rina and ho to an idolmaster gathering they'll recognize you there
Florina's outfit really isn't that hard at all, I know, and her wig would be easy too, but she gets filed under 'dream cosplay' because it's not something I'd do. I have the wrong body type - pretty busty and, uh, hip-y? - and I look like an adult to the point where makeup wouldn't help much.
Plus I doubt I could find a group.
>>9010246
well she ain't exactly flat with that armor
It's gonna be hell, but little by little, I'll work up to it.
>>9012159
Best of luck. Lucio is best boy.

>>9008497

Fuck yes. Me too. Being 5'3" is suffering. But I will do my Octopus President Husband justice someday.
Ion Fortuna from Trinity Blood. Someday. I hate how all of the cosplays out there from this series are unbelievable.
I'm not exactly short or a child but she'll always have a special place in my heart. Maybe one day I'll pull a fuck it and do her anyway
>>8993996
Here's where I stored mine, if that helps.
For transport to and from the cons, I had access to an SUV. But this year I might not, so I'm going to have to either build a smaller one or make it even more modular.
>>9012960
Because Russians, that's why.
Also because all the manga designs are super-embellished compared to the anime. For the longest time I was asking "where did all of these designs come from, I don't remember ANY of this"
>>9013702
>manga
lol. Try the artbook. Totally different level again, plus Cain has a different face entirely.
>>9012960
I feel those feels anon. I'm rereading through the series right now and want to cosplay Shahrazad or Lilith, but it feels moot considering what's out there. Maybe next year...
i know it dosen't look too difficult but ive never really cosplayed before
>>9014005
It's been cosplayed before- I don't remember if it was a seagull or not.
>>9013888
Pretty much any of the TB designs by Thores Shibamoto.

>i've
>>9013688
I really wish I could do that, but the scale means it wouldn't fit through a doorframe, let alone my bedroom. Plus it mounts on-top of an electric wheelchair so storing that is a pain too.
I do love your cosplay though, I've used it for ref photos.
Most of my favorite characters are women and i really don't have a build suited for crossplay
It's not even that hard, but my skills are so elementary and I just don't have any spare time or money to improve them.
one day i'll be good enough at sewing to attempt this...
>>8991222
its not hard to do elegant ballet poses without going en pointe! just make sure if you get actually ballet shows that you don't attempt to go on your toes cuz you'll break your ankles

That Wadanohara is one of mine too, I'm making her for NorCal summer gathering this year I think! Good luck to you!
>>9009285

Gonna try to tackle Elphelt for next year, I've been in love with her design since I first saw her but my skills and budget haven't been close to letting me achieve this till recently.
I debated doing her revelator design but I just don't like it nearly as much.

I think Pripara is way more entertaining than Aikatsu. Aikatsu and Pripara both have a little girl audience as opposed to LL's otaku guy fanbase, though, so they aren't super comparable.
I know it would be impossibly hard but i love the design...
I want to do Anath Adrastiea from BattleCON: Devastation of Indines but it's got lots of details, those props for the element things, and no one will ever know who I am.
I've actually done one of my dream cosplay just last sunday and I'm thinking of taking a pause from cosplay for a bit
But as soon as I'll be able to concentrate more on these I want to do them both (even though i was asked to do the Kaiser, but I like at least), even though I've never done an armor so the one on the right scares me a bit...
>>9020353
I don't understand, what's so hard about this one? Its a little more elaborate than a basic school uniform sure but, hardly a construction nightmare
Karandras, the Shadow Hunter
Just the amount if gym you would have to do to get to his level.
General Kala. The entire outfit is solid bugle beads. Daaaaaaammmnnnn,
