I feel like there's always a pastel style that's "in" in j-fash. I think Menhera is the one of the moment, but it'll probably rotate out in time. Fairy Kei is just cuter.

maybe it also has to do with the fact that fairy kei can be pretty "passable" if not ott or whatever, you feel
like.. a skirt.. puffy sleeves shirt.. some pastel accessories.. the most common comment i get is just something like: "let me guess, your favorite color is pink!" with a smile
shortly said i dont think it comes off as Speshul as lolita, often times i think it doesnt stand out much more than: oh man that guy REALLY loves purple and pink

If people don't know the names fairy kei freaks them out more unless it's very casual. I've had numerous older relatives make comments along the lines of "Wow, they look like they're dressing like toddlers" if they see fairy kei or decora on my screen, whereas ones that don't know what lolita is think it's weird as heck but don't think it looks like literal children's clothing. Some of my friends that are ambivalent towards lolita are also really freaked out by fairy kei and make similar comments.

Speaking as a lolita with a fairy kei close family member, here.

Lolita just gets labeled as that because people make a big deal of it in the community. Stop talking about it, and the label will go away. It's just that some people can't get over the idea of it, keep bringing it up, and then people just joining the fashion meet these people and think it's a giant deal.

Lolita fashion just has more drama.

Can I vent for a moment about how hard it is to find cute non basic/single color fairy kei bottoms/tights? It feels like everything cute from brand is either hard to find or stupidly expensive for what it is, and everything designed in the west tends to be the same clusterfuck of whatever is currently trending on a skater skirt/pair of tights. It wouldn't be that hard to make cute patterend skirts using a basic polka dot/cutesy pattern, why do people constantly feel the need to make designs as absurdly OTT as possible? I honestly think HTT and KG designs are atrocious and don't really work even if OTT fairy-kei outfits.
I feel like I'm maybe being too picky but I can't help it? There are few Western crafters I love and most if not all don't even produce clothes.

No problem, and I agree. I loved PEA's stuff and am so sad I didn't buy more before they closed because they had cute fairy kei clothes without the horrible blobby style on everything. It was just cute clothes.

As for the absurdly OTT thing, that's what's more popular in the west. They don't want something to feel good about everyday, they want something that people will stop and stare and compliment on the street, and that's what OTT can get.

What are good sneaker finds that are accesible a good deal of the time? The best finds can be rare and I don't want to support replicas.

I've always loved the look popular Japanese brand clothes like LISTEN FLAVOR, Galaxxy, 6% DOKIDOKI, etc but Ive never owned any of their clothing items.

I want to know before I invest in them, are they good quality? I dont want to be dropping like $50 a tshirt and then after a couple of washes have the print peeling off or something.

Does anybody know where I can find the hollow star-shaped hairclips like pic related is wearing in her braids? I've asked in previous threads before and nobody's been able to find them, but some anons did thankfully find the heart chain links some girls wear on their faces on eBay.

I've been really into fairy kei for years, but I was stuck in a rut of only owning black/grey/white clothes other than my lolita ones.

Recently I bought a bunch of cheap pastel coloured stuff (tank tops, tshirts, hair barettes) in charity shops and I want to order from Maniaq but I'm nervous about the fact that everything is 1 size. I ordered a backpack on sale and a sweater but I really want to try a pair of dungarees. Does anyone have experience ordering from them?

I'm 5"7 and I'm a size 6/8 in most UK size clothes. I think I might be too tall though and it's hard to estimate the hip sizes and my height because that's where I'd run into most problems. I feel like it won't be cute if the shorts are riding up my butt! Any advice? Also any photos of taller than asian people wearing fairy kei?

Does anyone feel more cheerful when they wear fairy kei? I wear a lot of black other times. When I wear pastels after wearing black for a while, I just feel more airy and better.

You could put toddlers in a lot of the clothes in fairy kei, since it's fairly modest, usually easy to move in, comfy, and cute colors.
Those are also the same reasons that I like fairy kei myself.

I think they release cute items here and there (like their Goodnight Skirts, Puffy Tees, a few sweaters on occasion) but otherwise are kind of bland.
I still love them anyway, though. Listen Flavor's got a nice kick to it with interesting designs/graphics etc, plus their tulle skirts or whatever that are hella good.
