>>
>>8931808
we aren't supposed to discuss individuals in depth here
>>
>>8931809
Lockshop is a store not an individual and talking about scammers is important.
>>
>>8931809
Is focusing on the shop acceptable? It seemed like it was when the GLW scandal occured.
>>
>>8931817
>>8931818
seems to have worked so far.

how do you gulls feel about poof in your coords? toned down or as much petti as the skirt can possibly fit?
>>
>>8931820
I usually tone it down since I mostly wear classic, but it also depends on the meet and the cut of the jsk. For me, typically the fancier the meet, the poofier my skirt's going to be.
>>
>>8931820
Here's a few better questions to expand on this.
How do you guys handle public transit and wearing pettis to meets on packed trains and buses?
Do you not wear one and then put it on before you go to the meet or do you go for smaller poof?
If you do opt for smaller poof what do you do when people bitch that you aren't wearing a good enough/big enough petti?
>>
>>8931805
>vendetta

There's dozens of complaints in the last few months alone. All of which have been deleted and hidden by Lockshop. That is not vendetta. Lockshop is fucking people over, and that is not ok.

>>8931809
we are allowed (or rather, have been in the past) to discuss scam situations as long as it doesn't devolve into personal attacks. Aka talk about Lockshop scamming and how to get something done, not "choke is an ugly bitch"

Was able to find someone selling these shoes. Freaking excited right now, and can't wait till they get here. These will go great with all my black JSKs. Didn't really think I would find a pair since they apparently came out in 2014 and aren't from a lolita brand.
>>
>>8931986
Oh, so they're Ank Rouge? Damn, anon, tell me if they're comfortable when they arrive. They're gorgeous.
>>
Any good dresses currently available that are white with red accents, or a sort of medical theme?

I've been trying to figure out Taobao for three days, but I'm really fucking terrible at learning new things nowadays.

I want a medical looking dress because I'm having surgery soon and would like to celebrate with a nice, themed outfit.
>>
>>8931939
I'll just wear whatever single petti fits my dress, and crush it around me in whatever way when I have to move in tight spaces. For sitting down, I'll pull the sides under myself and sit on it.
>>
>>8932054
Forgot to mention, it's not anything super serious like removing an organ, they're cutting out my wisdom teeth, and I'm very nervous about it because I've heard it hurts for ages afterwards. No one in my entire family has had an easy time with their wisdom teeth being extracted.
>>
>>8931805
Hi Choke
>>
>>8931939
I haven't yet taken public transport in frills and am a little nervous to do so. I suppose if I did I would wear a petti and tuck everything under if I sat.
I usually keep it low to mid poof for dailywear and reserve my fuller pettis for events and maybe coord pics. Since I wear classic I think it's best to stay toned down anyway.

>>8932054
If taobao is confusing to navigate you could always check out the dresses via my-lolita-dress or clobba. I know they're a bit more expensive to actually order from but I find them useful for browsing in English, you can look up the store/brand on taobao afterward. I haven't seen anything specifically medical myself though!

And I hope your wisdom teeth surgery goes alright! My family members and I have bad reactions to anesthetic so I get what you mean, I had to be kept at the doctor's for extra time after my surgery because of this. Honestly only the first couple days are particularly uncomfortable, but afterward you should feel okay. Stock up on soft foods and liquids that you actually enjoy in the meantime.
>>
>>8931986
Seconding comfort info please >>8931996
>>
>>8932069
>wisdom teeth
Don't worry, as long as you take care of it and keep it clean it'll heal up in no time. I didn't even take my painkillers after my surgery, it's really not bad, you'll just feel kind of achy and bruised. I found the pain I was in before I got them out was much worse than the pain after.

as for medical themed dresses, didn't Elegy put out a dress with like, organs and stuff on it? You could also get one of those kawaii surgical masks or something.
>>
>>8931939
Fortunately I've never had to travel on a super packed bus or train in lolita before. I've always been able to sit down, and in that case I can kind of gather most of my poof in my lap so it doesn't spill over into the adjacent seat. The only time someone on public transport bitched about my petti it was an obese woman whose ass took up half of my seat in addition to her own so IMO she literally had no room to talk.

The one time I've had someone complain about my outfit not having enough poof it was an overzealous newbie who also thought that my BtSSB Karami JSK wast proper lolita. Some of my dresses require a big petti and others look better with less volume and I think I manage to find a good balance there.
>>
>>8931939
I'm usually a shit who takes up 2 seats with my bag anyway (use a backpack in normie life) so I go with my petti and don't bother massively tucking it anywhere until there are no other seats left around me for people, at which point I try to shove it under/on me as well as I can without the dress creasing. same applies to my bag on normie days.
poof-wise, I generally have to go quite low since most of my classic dresses are these smaller A-line ones that just don't fit much, but being a balloon of poof is also really fun at more OTT events

Thank you both for your support! I'm mostly worried because last year I had to have a tooth in the back extracted, and that spot still hurts even a year later.

I'll look into seeing if I can find anyone to buy that Elegy dress from, although it's just a bit too morbid for me.

My dream dresses are the Bunny and Black Nurse one, and the Metamorphose Engelsbeginn, if that could help, although I feel there might be a different thread that I should be looking under, I'm just not sure which.
>>
>Tenso is STILL down
>>
>>8931939
If someone ever bitched at me about the size of my petti not being poofy enough, I'd probably just tell her to mind her own frills. But I tend to prefer a toned down look over lots of poof, and I've never had anyone say anything to me.

On this sort of line of thought, a member of my comm mentioned she smelled literal human shit on a bus one day, and it freaked me out. I haven't worn lolita on public transport yet, but ifI do I want to protect my dresses from possible shit smears. What type of coat cuts (for normies, because I don't want to get it on a lolita coat either) work best to wear over a petti? I immediately thought of the knee-calf length ones that are sort of flared, but they would ride up and bunch awkwardly at the top of the petti, as well as not actually cover it fully. Should I just buy a trench? Seriously, I'm so paranoid now, it isn't funny.

I'd stand if roads in my town weren't so awful and the buses didn't ride like a $100 banged up car from the 90's with corduroy interior and fluffy dice

Anon, may I perhaps recommend a white skirt/op and then a red blouse, white socks, red shoes and accessories? It may be a bit a la sexy nurse, but you can find medical themed accessories pretty readily and then you'll be able to re-use the pieces in other coords!

I was actually contemplating this while re-sorting my wardrobe and noting a white, IW older piece I have never, ever worn and a red Baby bolero that I have also not worn. I was thinking it would make for a great halloween coord if all else fails.

>tfw none of my reds match REEEEEEEEE
Do any of you gulls have any tips for matching reds? My Baby bolero's red is oldschool red and kinda darker than the red on my AaTP JSK (I figured they would probably use the same shade of wine, right? It's not far off, but I notice it up close) I also have a wine skirt, wine blouse, two red hairbows, and dred bodyline shoes. I have LIEF's gardenberries and the red on that is too light to match anything.
I seriously think I'm going to be buying red things until I have a wardrobe that actually matches.

I know if I buy a set it will obviously match, but I'm saving so I buy secondhand generally.

Also I missed Haenuli's Fawn OP in milk for the large. It pisses me off because the only difference that matters to me is the shoulders in the small are off by a few cms. Man shoulders suck and, hah, I had to have the area x-rayed (broken collarbone) and even if I loose weight it looks like I'll always have big shoulders. No OPs for me, apparently.

Sorry for the long post.

fyi
>>
>>8932400
I have encountered homeless that smelled like piss and shit, but not on the bus. Just downtown where I live.
Usually you can just look before you sit down. I've found some weird stuff on the train and buses here but never fecal matter.
Guess it depends on where you live.
>>
>>8931939
Public transit is non-existant in my neighborhood so I drive. I take my truck to meetups because it's roomy and there's plenty of space to sit with my petti on.
>>
>>8932506
Sure, if you're wearing a shitty petti

>>8932508
If they don't move after being asked, I just sit on them. If they don't like it, they can either deal with it or be respectful to other people. If they don't want to respect you, then you're under no obligation to respect them or their stuff. Honestly, though, I generally don't have this problem because most people have sense enough to move their stuff when you ask.
>>

>reading comprehension
I explicitly mentioned that if there are no more open seats left around me I will get my shit together and leave the seat next to me open. this doesn't happen often because I don't take the bus during rush hour. calm down princess salt
>>
You guys speculating about her death didn't know her so please stop. She was a private person and her family wanted to keep the details to a minimum. Out of respect for the dead, and the people who actually knew her who want to abide by their wishes, please just drop it and literally let her rest in peace.
>>
>>8932423
Now this is the kind of comment where it would be correct to assume the poster has aspergers or autism.
Like you seriously don't understand that?
Why would her family give a shit about what anons think. They don't even know we exist most likely.
And if they do, they don't owe us information.

What are you, a fucking paparazzi?
>>
>>8932512
>the h makes all the difference in the most insignificant word
>>
>>8932517
How many people have you sat on and how did that actually play out for you?
If I sit on someone here they're gonna notify our city's transit cops and I'll be escorted off at the next stop.
That's pretty unrealistic man.
>>
>>8932388
damn... condolences to those who knew her more than in passing as a fellow seagull. how sad.
>>
>>8932519
Sorry for not reading your entire comment but I think there is rarely a time when it's okay to do that.
Also I think I specified in my first comment about it being, packed/busy transit.
I live in a big city, every hour is rush hour unless it's 6 am or 11:30 at night. Buses and trains are always filled with people and traffic is awful.

Why the fuck would I give a shit about how you get on a bus with plenty of room and the petti is not a problem?
The point of my question was to find out about etiquette involving big poofy pettis and how not to rub your dress all over people but no one here knows or lives in a big enough city apparently.

>>
>>8931939

My comm members wear normie clothes during transit, and change at the venue. Myself, I do normal-looking coords where I can change the blouse, put on a petti and a nicer hairpiece at the venue after I arrive.

That way we don't look like half-assed lolitas while taking public transport, and we also don't need to deal with any poof. For carrying lolita clothes around, the bags that come with lucky bag sets work pretty well, roll up the petti and squish it into a smaller bag before putting it in with other lolita clothes. Jewellery should be in a seperate pouch/in your handbag to avoid losing them. We're in the tropics, normie clothes are usually very light and don't take up as much space as lolita clothes, so it's easy to stow the normie clothes and the carrier bags into our handbags until the meetup ends and it's time to change back into normie clothes.

I don't think we've ever had meetups where there wasn't a convenient place to change into lolita (I mean you really want to ask yourself if you want to wear lolita to a place without a decent bathroom...). But on a couple of occassions I've opted for zero poof coords (long dresses or certain old school babydolls) because I couldn't be bothered to change in and out of things.

>>8932400
Changing at the venue might work better for you, even if weird stuff gets on your clothes you'd be less heartbroken to straight up toss them out.

If you don't want to change in and out of lolita fully, carrying your petti in a bag and wearing a normal coat over your flat dress should work, at least.
>>
>>8932539
I live in the biggest city in my country, rush hours are from 8-9:30 and 16:30-18. at other times you pretty much don't get traffic jams or anything. that said, the only public transport I've taken where there seriously never has been comfortable space was the Paris metro (London, Paris, München, Stockholm were all completely fine).
if you want advice for your specific issue, ask for it. (hint: the answers will just be to sit on it, gather it on your lap or drive/carpool.)
>>
>>8932533
... I-I didn't think I'd need to clarify, but I guess I do, I mean the person's stuff, not the person themselves. Usually it's part of their skirt or coat, or bag if it's partly on the seat. If they themselves are a fatty or spreading their legs I just end up taking up the rest of the seat regardless. No actual sitting on people happen.
>>
>>8932543
Def ita and cosplay-ish
>>
>>8932543
Not even ita because it's not lolita at all. It's a fucking halloween costume.
>>
>>8932488
Admitting you may have been ignorant of an event doesn't make you less so. It flooded a general for a bit and had its own thread, so idk how you missed it
>>
>>8932525
>assume the poster has aspergers or autism
Same. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this.
>>8932423
If it's torturing your 'tism this much, use your fucking brain. Do you think anyone young dies of favorable circumstances? You are also not entitled to knowing, no matter how selfish you are. You clearly did not know the girl, are not privy to whatever details and that's something you're going to have to live with.
>>
>>8932518
Would the people want a facebook group news network for the lolita community? I have an alternate account I could make it on.

Like the other >>8932436, anon was saying would be similar to Lolita Updates but be focused around news, drama and such.
>>
>>8931996

>>

And I hope this doesn't make me sound insensitive, but does anyone know what dress this is?
>>

Diff anon, but "Lacking knowledge or information", which you clearly did, mate
>>
>>8932740
I guess I'm just going to call everyone who asks a question ignorant now. It's technically true!
>>
>>8932742
I mean, it is. It's taken on negative connotations in some instances, but if you don't know something, you're ignorant of it. And I think it's fair to call someone who missed a ton of posts about a topic and comes in like "hey guys why aren't we talking about this!? did i miss it!?!" a little ignorant and deserving of a mildly mocking response. cgl so touchy, damn
>>
>>8932710
I think it's not a dress, but a skirt+blouse combo. If you zoom in you can see a slight colour difference and the lace on top of the belt.

And man, that's so sad. She was so lovely and inspiring person.

Then let me try again. Want to read a magazine? Buy it. No one wants to scan them for your cheap lazy ass anymore. The people who used to scan got tired of people being bitchy entitled twats about it and as someone else said the bible publisher contacted live journal and asked scan links to be taken down. The magazines are cheap enough so buy them your damn self if you want to read them. (Or in your case 'see the pictures')

Really? Dang! I've only ever heard good things, and I have one of their wigs but it's an older model. That sucks, anon. I'm kinda glad I decided not to order from them during their March sale. >>8933949
i'm going to second that dreamholic is pretty hit or miss as well, mostly miss.

i had them royally fuck up my order for about 3 months and they didn't even offer a proper apology. when the wig finally arrived, the color was completely different from the stock picture swatches and was very thin on top. I would cop this to bad luck, but another wig i have from them also shared the thinness issue and became tangled beyond repair after wearing it out once.

i highly advise against buying from them considering these issues. buyer beware.
>>
>>8934536
Do someone have a place they recommend? I need one in an upcoming event and I wad thinking about Dreamholic.

I have seen every single wig shop brought up on here get shot down for shit quality, bad fibers, easy tangle, and so on. GLW, Lock$hop, Cyperous, DreamHolic, Arda, what have you. At this point you just have to pick your poison and hope for the best.
>>
>>8934589
i think they have always been severely iffy at best, their etsy shop is pretty inaccurate and sloppy on top of their quality issues.

the wigs themselves aren't the worst you can do for the most part, hopefully yours will turn out ok!

I actually had decent luck with Bodyline wigs! For the price, they really aren't bad, especially if you nab some during a sale. One I had to restyle pretty intensely, but another was incredibly thick and full. I'm definitely gonna get more wigs from them.
>>
>>8934634
>Cyperous
Wut. I mean I've heard things but it's been awhile since I've seen anything negative.
I only complained about Cyperous recently because they cut production on a lot of my favorite wig colors. I'd still recommend them above most.
>>
>>8934599
I can't find the price listed anywhere actually, but I imagine it was probably $50-$70 max. Not fucking $100+ shipping. And that is why I will always despise resellers no matter how many girls shill for them.
>>

Do you guys even know what leaks mean? I don't mean scans. I mean someone gets a hold of the magazines early and leaks them online before release date. You know, like corocoro magazine and how that gets leaked every month.
>>
>>8934041
I honestly think she looks good in sweet and it does give me hope to see a 28-year-old woman not looking too out of place in sweet. However, I do prefer her normal style. Bangs suit her, though.
>>
>>8933425
If you mean before they are published then you need to know someone who works for the magazine or have a friend who does or be friends with a regular model. Stuff does get leaked, just not to very many, obviously or that would defeat the purpose. How do you think some girls always get their first choices in dresses and stuff, super magic luck? :^)
>>
>>8934650
Unless you really haven't had any nice or more expensive wigs, I think your standards might be a bit low. I've compared 3 Bodyline wigs to other Lolita wigs, and some good quality mainstream wigs too and honestly, they are much closer to the quality and fiber content of the really cheap eBay costume wigs. They aren't even heat safe or double wefted.
>>
>>8932543
If you have to even ask about this then your Lolita game needs serious work. I'd be less concerned with your special medical theme and more concerned with 'what is even a quality lolita dress' if you are at this level. Go post about your toofs n the feels thread and cosplay a nurse, maybe.

The reason it's not a good idea to ask about stuff here isn't for the reasons most anons will give you, like you should just Google or that you're new or that you're doing something wrong.
It's that most everyone here is a fucking retard and they don't know what you mean nor do they have a proper answer unless you know, they Google something themselves. Everyone is so reliant on a search engine now that they don't actually have any knowledge without having a device in front of them to act as a brain.

>>8932539
Take a taxi.
>>
>>8935109

It does get leaked, though. The models leak it, candys leaks it, sometimes there's a shot of a (semi-)celebrity model from neck up on brand's official blogs (meta, baby and ap have all done that) along with a blurb like "shooting today for new dress! Please look forward to it!"

The trouble is that they're all over the place. The models leak it on their own blogs, the point is to get their followers to buy the mags. So you'd need to be following every model's blogs. The official blogs and Twitter only sometimes show a shot in a blue moon. Afaik there's been no leaks from the production team, so you've out of luck if that's the source you're after. So there's no one single reliable source.

>>
>>8935565
These cuts are fucking horrible. I really like this print too...I'm so sad.
>>
>>8935682

.....That is not what I said. I said it does get leaked in bits and pieces all over, and that it's difficult to find one single reliable source to find the leaks, which is what I think op is looking for.

Hizaki of versailles was wearing luminous sanctuary before shots of it came out in the bible. Sure, he got sneak previews, maybe he got to read the whole bible before it hit the shelves even, and it looks like he got to keep the dress. I don't see how that helps op, but there you go. Someone who has access to sneak previews. Happy?
>>
>>8935565

>>
>>8935565

What I'm actually really interested in is whether one jsk is actually made with less fabric in the skirt to be less poofy than the other.

I can accept that the navy jsk has a less floofy petti under it, but somehow the print doesn't look as squished together like it should if there is more skirt and a lack of poof. What do you anons think, the two jsks have different amounts of fabric in the skirt, or maybe AP cut off the sides of the skirt to make it look better on the poster, and the irl skirt are both equally poofy?
>>
>>8935844
are you drunk?
>>
>>8935845

>this much asspain
>can't just say they disagree

you're being disagreeable just to pass the time, aren't you.
>>
>>8935844
The bottom one is longer and the bottom circumference is less, count the visible motif repeat from one side to the other on each dress, then look at the area above the bottom border print and you will see there is more fabric showing lengthwise on the lower one as well. The bodices on both JSK look to be similar length, the bottom one might be a bit longer too though but does not look easily adjustable as the top one might be. This method is not always 100% reliable though because fashion show and magazine photographs are the sample dresses and actual production dresses can have some variations. It usually says this in the fine print on the website.
>>
>>8935847
no I mean I honestly dislike it and I get what you are saying but your phrasing sounds like you are legit shitfaced

are you retarded or drunk? English isn't my first or main language and I can still see your post is rambling
>>
>>8935282
It's not rude if you're asking for a bow or beret from a set. I've purchased sets before and never want the beret or socks, so I'm glad if there is someone taking them.
Also, what's gonna happen? You won't get blacklisted by the lolita police for politely asking.
>>
>>8935857

That's smart. It didn't occur to me to count the number of motif repeats. So it does look like less fabric, but we can't be sure that this is the final version.

Thanks, anon.

What's the etiquette on wearing expensive prints to small cons/meetups? Like if someone wore, say, puppet circus to a college convention?
>>
>>8936711
you need to take anyone who you see being jelly over your print, shove their head down to the floor and put your shoe on their cheek

>>8936711
Wear what you want? A word of caution though, always expect the worst at large public gatherings like cons- accidents happen so be prepared for that if it does.

Most people save those elaborate / expensive outfits for tea parties or big events where everyone will be dressed nicely. Wearing something so fancy to a small event is like wearing a ball gown to go grocery shopping, it's a bit silly but no one's going to stop you.

Have you gulls ever made little modifications to your dresses if something feels a little weird about it? I just picked up iw's iris jsk which I didn't even know about until I saw it, but the ribbons don't go all the way around to the back and it looks weird, why would they not finish the back? Wondering if I should just remove the rest of the ribbons to give it balance, or put my own ribbons on.
>>
>>893671
Expensive =/= fancy
It's more about the style, not the price. You could wear a short sleeve blouse and tea parties with Cat's Tea Party and look pretty casual. Taobao brands make crazy hime sleeve OTT shit for cheap all the time too. It's your stuff, the price shouldn't matter anymore. Just dress appropriately for the event.
>>
>>8936711
Sorry, here's the reply
>>8936962

>>8936884
If you can imagine reselling it, I'd make little bows and tack them down lightly. Don't feel bad! It's your dress, and if adding/removing some bows makes it more wearable, then that's very valuable.
>>
>>8936639
They gave the reason being that the reservation was moving slowly. I've had stuff tailored before and it was fine waiting for it so waiting isn't a problem.
>>
>>8934634
Has anyone here tried diva wigs? I've been looking at them since another anon brought them up. They're expensive but I love how natural some of their wigs look. I just want to know if they're worth the $$
>>
>>8936884
I swap all the shitty plastic lace on whatever bodyline I buy for cotton lace. Same with the ribbons, I swap satin for velvet. I do it because I've never thought about reselling my things, so I just make them more to my preference. But I wouldn't mind giving them at low prices.
>>
>>8936884
If you mean the satin bows tacked on, it's because if they were on the back, just being attached at the middle, when you sit down, they will become crumpled and then when you stand back up stick out every which way unless you tack all the corners down too, which would also look odd. It's that way for a practical reason.
>>
>>8937609
Wow, I just have to tell you this -
there is this thing called Google
and if you type in
<your search term>
Then type the the word "review"
and then hit "enter",
something magical happens!

(There are a TON of reviews on this company, don't be such a lazy shit.)
>>
>>8937646
Well aren't you just a little ray of sunshine.
>>
>>8936711

I'm with >>8936723, not that it's OTT or anything, but if it's an expensive dress and a crowded, busy con you might end up damaging your dress or losing pieces while moving through the crowd. You're also not likely to get much recognition except from other lolitas, so if that's your thing you might want to wear a less coveted but flashier piece.

If it's a quiet con, then by all means go for it.

>>8936884

If it's just as simple as tacking on ribbons to a dress, it shouldn't matter much, you can easily remove them when selling, or the dress might actually be easier to sell if the ribbons go all the way around. If you're removing the ribbons, keep them safe somewhere, so that you can tack them back onto the dress when you sell it on.

I'm usually less nervous about modding pieces if they're cheap and unpopular; less haters and you can point out how cheap and unpopular the dress is if anyone does get on your case about precious burando.

>>8937094

The number of orders might be too low to meet the factory minimum. Most factories will only print the fabric if you order a certain number of yards. Preorder "moving slowly" probably means it's slow to sell, looks like not enough girls ordered enough dresses to meet the factory minimum. If they can't get the fabric printed then they can't make the dress.
>>
>>8936711
It depends on if you are meeting up with other Lolitas, a comm for the first time, if there is a tea, etc. when I meet new people and it isn't a specifically fancy event, I wear a well liked, easily recognizable brand piece, a little dressier styling and one unique accessory. If it's anything fancy them by all means bring out the Puppet Circus. But if it's not fancy, you don't want to overdress, either. I'd save it though because unless you have a parade of rare things to follow it, why wear your best thing first...that means everything you ever will follow it with will be less impressive.
>>
>>8937653
I tire of people wasting time with questions already very well answered should they have the wit to do even the slightest search. Don't you?
>>
>>8936440
Then deal with the stink, stares, jostling and crush. Suit yourself. I'd rather arrive unmussed
>>
>>8936436
uh. are you still stuck in your ita phrase or something? It's rorita in Japan, not ro-rita. The 'o' is short, like in lolly.
>>
>>8937676
Not that anon, but isn't lolly pronounced as law-ly? That's not the way it's supposed to be pronounced.
>>
>>8936337
Not lolita. Learn what is even basic lolita before you try to theme things this particular. If you don't do some 'what is/isn't lolita' research, you are going to quickly get tired of us repeatedly telling you, "go research, this isn't even lolita.", then "stop bugging, go research" then finally "piss off, you are clueless". You've almost achieved this all in one thread over what, 2 days? Go read about the basics. We aren't your lolita research librarians though God knows I wish there was a referral group of the type of people who liked to help clueless noobs, they'd be saints among us.

>>
>>8936337
look at milky ange if you want a sorta cosplay/lolita feel to it! They have some nice stuff, but maybe too advanced for you
>>
>>8937708
Seconding Milky Ange, though most of their stuff is fancy maid cosplay these days. They seem to be making less lolita than they used to.
>>
>>8937676
Jeez people there are enough Japanese people in YouTube videos saying rorita or gosurori to figure this out. People stopped using 'loli' pronounced any way when lolicon became more visible under western media scrutiny and the western way of saying Lolita is mostly commonly said with a more Spanish or Mexican accent because the name is short for 'Dolores' . U.K., EU, Aus and white Americans pronounce it weirdly and each differently anyway so, yeah. Just agree to disagree.
>>
>>8937669
Fair enough. How do you like explaining what you're wearing to uber drivers or like a cabbie?

itt: people who haven't taken an uber

uber drivers don't really talk to you, it's part of their system. when cabbies ask about my clothes, i just tell them i'm going to an event then change the subject to something else.
>>
>>8938277
All the uber drivers I've taken are super chatty. Even when I'm in just j-fashion.
>>
>>8938314
that's very odd, they're not supposed to lol. lyft, a competitor, built an image around being friendly specifically because uber isn't.

either way, i'm sure a brief explanation about our clothes should suffice. i usually just steer the conversation towards something else and they get the hint.

Also any blog/LJ/...any recommendation for a depressed lolitas?
>>
>>8934041
>when I got into lolita people were like "I'm a sweet lolita!"
This. There was so many sweet lolitas. I am french and when it began to be a bit more popular on platforms like skyrock (circa 2009-2010) it was FULL of sweet lolitas and/or OTT sweet.
I kinda miss it...it was so cute. There was also a bit of gothic and some rare classic.
>>
>>8938331
>they're not supposed to
Two of my friends are uber drivers and I've taken several ubers before, and all of the drivers have chatted with me.
Not only that but you can listen to any stand up comedian these days and they'll have a bit about how they talked to an uber driver about something.
It's a customer service job. If you want the customer to be happy you talk to them. Unless they give you a social cue they don't want to, you pretty much do whatever the customer wants to make then happy, hence the whole "hey do want some bottled water, what kind of music do you want to hear" etc
Fuck, one guy gave me a bottle of gatorade and offered to let me plug my phone in so I could listen to my own music.

Not only that but all but one of the ubers I've taken I sat up front. The very first one I took, I asked where I should sit and he said up front and they've all been very happy to have me sit in front and chat.

I have a hell of a time believing that even if you were wearing something like otome, they wouldn't comment on it or ask if you were doing something like a fancy dinner. Shit, I've taken them in normie clothes and they still ask "hey so what are you doing, what brings you downtown"

Or maybe its just where I'm from and people here are just super friendly and enjoy conversation.
>>
>>8938277
I take an uber almost every day and most of them at least try to talk ask about my day and where I'm going.
I mean they are just regular people doing this on their free time for the most part. They're al really nice and polite.

>>
>>8938498

there are tons of people who are into more than one style. admittedly sweet and gothic isn't the most common mix but come on, why would anyone give a shit

>>8938479
uber drivers do literally anything for 5 star reviews
I wouldn't be surprised if they'd lick your shoes if you threatened with 1 star
>>
>>8938505
well since everyone here is such a catty bitch and will jump on someone for literally anything like you just did I was wary about it

>>8938506
I moved about a year and a half ago and just recently got into a new comm and I already have a quite large sweet wardrobe but I have really loves gothic for some time as well. I've had issues in the past with comms with even smaller things pissing off people so having two sizeable wardrobes seems like a good way to piss people off even more and I am wary of that
>>
>>8938510
everyone would be so angry at you like all the time so I advice you to just wear 1 style of clothing forever

Soo I just got tickets for Under the Sea and I can't find any dress code info anywhere so is it okay if you don't wear JetJ to the tea party, or is it against the rules or just frowned upon?

>>8938526
Tea party on sunday - not directly related to JetJ, they are just guests, so dress however you want to. I'm sure most people attending won't wear JetJ, it's just difficult with the sizing, prices and availability.
Event on saturday - not even strictly lolita, but open to any J-Fashion. So just wear what you want, but if you want extra attention, try to stick to the theme.
>>
>>8938526
it doesn't even say anywhere that you should wear lolita
>>
>>8938530
I don't think it's because of your wardrobe people don't like you
>>
>>8938541
it was just one girl? she was pissed off because we had similar tastes and I had a lot of dresses she wanted. when I got her DD she finally flipped her shit and threw tea at me

but yeah I'm sure I'm the problem
>>
>>8938411
>>8938464
>>8938479
maybe it depends on the area, like i said here >>8938331, they're not supposed to be too chatty- the goal is to be very professional. they did change their business a bit recently, so maybe that concept has also shifted, or drivers see more competition and are striving to deliver the best service they can.

i work in SF and i tend to get ubers during peak times with other people dressed in business attire, so it's possible they remember me/ have my profile marked and try to follow a stricter code of conduct because of that? in general i don't get many chatty uber drivers, i take maybe 2-3 a week at the minimum and i'm always in lolita.

>>8938547
anon, this is one of my biggest concerns. i avoid disclosing my purchases or making wardrobe posts in case people start hating on me like that, especially since lolita tends to attract a lot of crazy snowflake types.

i understand your circumstances though.. back when midsummer's night dream dream was highly coveted and difficult to obtain, i told maybe one person about my get and a few days later some lolita acquaintances came by my apartment and became adamant about seeing my bedroom.

on that note, how often do gulls wear very exclusive/rare dream dresses out? i pretty much avoid it unless it's a small event where accidents are least likely to occur.
