What's making them latch onto Osomatsu? I liked it because it's pretty much an anime in the style of a western cartoon. I don't see any similarities to how many characters homestuck or hetalia has. And they all look a certain way so it's definitely not a variety either like Steven Universe.

It's nowhere near as bad as Homestuck, man. Yeah, the threads on /a/ are complete trash and a good percent of the fanbase is fujoshis/fudanshis but a lot of Tumblr users actually don't like the show because of their SJW feefees.

I cosplayed Jyushimatsu's girlfriend from episode 9 and my boyfriend cosplayed Jyushimatsu at a con last week. About three people recognized him, while nobody knew who I was. I guess it's just not popular where I live.

Osomatsu is nowhere near Homestuck-tier. You get memelords who like to quote the show, but that's the worst of it, pretty much.

Also Totty is like, hands-down the least popular Matsuno brother so you won't have to worry about violent displays of affection.

I bought a pink hoodie to make my sweatshirt with but I'm wondering how to do the crest/logo? I was thinking of making a stencil and then painting over it with green screenpainting paint, but I'm not sure how to do the darker color outline.

I'm screenprinting anon, and I'm not sure how iron-on vinyl works, but maybe if you ironed on the darker green/black as a base then cut out the light green part of the logo to iron onto the dark part it might come out okay? I can't think of any other way to do that dark outline.

Yeah, that's precisely what I had in mind. My only issue is that I never used iron-on vinyl before, only saw a few tutorials, so I was wondering if other anon's had experience with iron-on vinyl or had different suggestions to share.
Your screenprinting suggestion is also nice, I wish I wasn't so crap with paints..
Also seen quite a few cosplayers just cutting the shape out of felt and gluing it to the hoodie but it looks so lazy to me.

Yeah, I would definitely not do felt if you want it to look professional. You could always take the jacket to a screenprinting place and get them to do it, but I understand that doing it yourself is part of the fun.

I'd definitely buy a cheap tshirt from goodwill or something to test it out on though, so that if it does work you'll also have an osomatsu shirt, and if it doesn't work you won't wreck your hoodie.

I'm pretty bad with paint too, so again I'm going to practice on tshirts until I get good. My first cosplay I cut a red hoodie in half and painted the team magma symbol on it with fabric paint and made horns out of silver duct tape. I doubt you can do worse than that anon!

I just painted mine. Made a matsuno logo stencil (just the outline), painted it in with a base green and went over the outside very carefully with a darker green. If you look at it close in person, yeah, it's obviously painted, but it works in a pinch if you don't have the coordination of a 3-year-old child.

I've also seen people embroider theirs on. I don't like the look, but some people do. UP to personal preference

I think if the cosplayer isn't achieving pic related with their eye makeup, it's not really a good job at all. You might want to track down older gyaru makeup tutes (not the newer himekaji/romagyaru stuff), you'll see that the doe-eye illusion isn't created with "crazy lashes". It's created with dark eyeshadow and eyeliner and _then topped with crazy lashes. This wasn't a "good job" that's missing "crazy lashes", this is missing the whole point entirely.

Like I kinda get that the source material is cartoony, but it exaggerates her eyelashes precisely because the heavy doe-eye look is the one characteristic that was really central to the old-school gyaru look, particularly the ganguro era. Go back to the old lj gyaru comm, you'll see them say over and over again, the makeup was really central to capturing the gyaru style, not the clothes or the hair.

Plus, I have to agree with the other anon. Without the eye makeup the end result looks like a white chick pretending to be black with no other remarkable features. At least if she'd put in effort to do her eyes properly she'd be in a better position to point out her drastic eye makeup that looks like no other style in the West, and explain how she's really a white chick pretending to be an Asian chick pretending to be a black chick.

If you're going to do gyaru, whether it's a character or not, get your makeup right, bottom lashes, highlighting and contouring are a must

My OSMT group simply got those iron-on transfers (for dark colored fabrics)
