Selfposting a progress picture, wondering peoples' opinions on Asriel/Chara/Frisk sweaters. I fabric painted these stripes, but I know a few people have cut and sewn stripes in, some have gone so far as to knit entire sweaters. What's folks preferences for the sweaters? (Personally I actually like to see the fully knit ones, takes a lot of skill and dedication)

That's the look I'm going with for my boots. I prefer to keep it more masculine/neutral since in canon he really isn't that feminine looking, or at least not as much as he is almost always portrayed as in cosplays and fanart.

excuse the selfpost, but I did this Undyne makeup test about a month after the game first came out, and now that people have been cosplaying it like mad, I wanted to know if there was something I could improve on (I'm gonna change the orange contouring on the nose to a darker blue from the orange.) I'm most curious to get feedback about what to do for Undyne's nose. Should I keep mine, or should I try to make a more fish-like nose prosthetic? Have there been any successful looking ones? Please ignore the makeshift eyepatch and my generic monster teeth; they're both stand-ins.

Yeah, I see your point. Initially, I was trying to go more for the the iridescence of fish scales instead of the texturing. DESU I haven't seen a good Undyne makeup that's used a fishscale texture. It always looks really flat and super obvious that there's just fishnet texture on their faces. I'm not completely opposed to the idea, I just don't know of a way to do a scaling texture that doesn't look like shit.

Using a chinese knockoff arduino (Sparkfun Pro Micro) and a 20,000mAh power bank to run it. Lipo is also a good option.

it's bad because AUs in and of themselves are pretty cringey and everyone's often OOC in them to the point of unrecognizability. At that point, it just becomes fandom wank, and there's no more trace of the actual characters. Most of these AUs would be better off as original stories with original characters, but the creators/fans just refuse to let go of the 'image' of what these characters started out as.

This isn't the case for every AU (outertale, oceantale/undersail) but for others (Underfell, Underswap) it's particularly bad.

As long as the execution is good and the person in it isn't an asshole, I'm fine with any AU cosplay. A lot of other people hate the AU's because they're source material purists and think anything other than what the content originated from is trash and that anything that deviates from it is automatically shit.

looks like I'm gonna do a quick Mad Dummy cosplay for wondercon. Can probably knock it out in a day if i have everything. Going to do a burlap "crop top" then about 5'' of space with a second strip of burlap hanging from it with lacing to emulate the bad stitching. Put foam shaped teeth on the bottom of the crop top and the top of the lower strip. Might just wear some dark Khaki pants for a "wooden stand". Will probably get a simple white white hat and add make Mad Dummy's eyes out of foam to put on the front of it. Gonna rit dye the burlap and hat orange.
Will probably end up DECENT,but its Undertale cosplay,so it'll still be better than most

Thanks! The material is frosted perspex/acrylic that I cut using a laser cutter (and for the box holding the LEDs). It's distanced a little away from the LEDs so it diffuses them (see webm)

As for seeing out, I have my phone stuck on the inside, and the little hole is for the camera to see out of. I can only have it on for 3-4 hours though before I run out of battery.

Metta-anon. I'm having some delays in getting stuff for my Sans eyes so I was wondering how easy it is to program an arduino mini for what I had in mind?

My main plan was to have a circuit with a raspberry pi zero, neopixels for normal pupils and then neopixels in the blue ring which colour changed - I was intending on getting a push button which would change between the three states, normal pupils, blue ring, nothing (so off basically) but because of delays and time running out (as this is for Kita next week) I'm getting desperate for alternatives and am toying with having two different circuits, one with normal LEDs for the pupils and then one with a neopixel ring and I'm thinking of getting an arduino zero to power it, I wanted the blue eye to change colours between yellow, blue and green as it sometimes does that during the genocide fight.

anyway long ramble aside how easy would it be to code the arduino to have that for the neopixel ring as I am an utter noob in coding and electronics. Thanks for any help you can give, sorry to everyone else for clogging the thread

An Arduino Mini is super simple, you could run both circuits off one Arduino with ease. Have a look at this guide: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide/overview (it applies to all the Neopixel range)

Yup, after wearing my costume on the first day to gauge how much power everything took, I used my backup power bank plugged into the phone to prevent it from discharging. It extended the power by 1-2 hours (so around 4-5 hours total)

I may buy more battery packs so I can keep extending it, but I don't think I'd want to wear the costume for longer than that anyway

Also duct tape works wonders for keeping wires out of your face

Very simple! It's basically setting the colour, refreshing the display to show the new instructions, then having a small delay (the flash). It does that a certain number of times before moving onto the next pattern.

Yeah, I was worried about that. You can't see it very well, but my bottom lip is metallic silver. It's darker than the rest of my skin. I don't like completely black lips, but I also don't like the contrast of just the top lip colored, so I settled on a middle ground.

Anime Boston was kind of depressing in terms of Undertale. A million and 1 Undertale cosplays and all of them decent/really bad. And what was making them bad was just people being lazy about it. Skeletons with eye-liner skulls, a hundred Frisks and sans in t-shirts and jeans. Some pretty good Mettatons.

Heh, aw geeze... to be honest, a huge push for me trying out the game was when I heard there were some funny skeleton characters. I've always had crushes on undead characters since WoW and onward, eugh. Tried out the game and I was hooked immediately after I met Sans and Pap. Especially in a Christmassy village. The game jammed so many of my favorite things into just the Snowdin section alone, it was a little eery.

I'd really love cosplaying the bros, Toriel, or fully armored Undyne, but I feel like Sans'd be the best pick since I'm 5'4 and fairly new to cosplay... I'm going to be vending at the next few cons I'm headed to and would really love to give out some gummy hot dogs and/or word searches to cosplayers and nice folks. I've never seriously crossplayed before though, and I hope it wouldn't be too disappointing to hear a not-so-deep-voiced Sans joking around and shooting the shit with people.

My tablemate who's a towering 6'4 has agreed to be my Papyrus if I go through with it, and has experience with armored cosplay and can do a fun skeletor-ish voice so I'm incredibly excited to maybe give this a shot! I don't want to look like a sellout or whatnot... but I haven't been this obsessed with a game since Earthbound or Chrono Trigger and would love to pay homage to it. I remember there being a pair of Mortal Kombat characters at a table at Comic Con we went to once and they were hilarious

Sorry for the long spiel but I'm both really nervous and excited planning this out! I really think the masked cosplay will be the push I need to be as outgoing as I'd like around the con and at my table, it's relatively comfy, plus it gives me extra reason to go finally go with the silly wintery-holiday vibe with some christmas lights and all that that I've been wanting for a while, heh.

I just hope our fun would be contagious and enjoyable to con-goers.

He should be okay as long and your partner keep close by. Maybe not take him to any big gatherings. I dressed my toddler son as Toon Link during a con and most people were pretty polite and asked me if they could take his photo.

If you're extra concerned, bring one of the smaller sun strollers with you. Nobody really will bother him in it, you'll want one for when he gets tired, and they're small enough to not get in everybody's way.

You could even decorate it up a little.

Dirt-anon again, with a good tip for application. Most times, the fake dirt is put into a 'dirt bag' (pic related) and then gently hit against the skin/clothing/etc. If you don't want to buy a dirt bag, you can use a sock, too. Just... make sure it's a clean one.
