I'm just wondering, what are the greatest dresses of this brand in seaguls opinion, because it's really 50/50 brand to me. Post your favorite pieces or dream dresses of it.
>>
>>8899421
Lol I don't think anyone's dream dress is IW and I say this as someone whose wardrobe is like 80% IW. I buy it because it's cheap and easy to wear (less dressy and loud compared to baby, meta, and AP). I can't think of any IW that I've seen scalped.

I did want Charles Crown OP for awhile and found it for a good price but it's a bit tight on me, lmk if you want to buy it
>>
>>8899432
Pretty sure Lotta is a dress that goes for pretty scalped prices.
>>
>>8899445
This. Also, Grazia Crown is pretty popular IW dress too.
>>
>>8899445
And Grazia Crown.
>>
>>8899432
....my dream dress is Marie Rose.....

> Lol I don't think anyone's dream dress is IW

I can think of Grazia Crown and Lotta.
>>
>>8899456
Marie Rose is gorgeous! Especially in blue. If the white sleeves were detachable it would have been on my wish list too.
>>
Innocent world is my favourite brand for several reasons. I love the simplicity of many of their peices, I wear lolita often and IW is easily dressed up or down. I adore their prints and florals, not really digging the british kick they're on at the moment but it'll probably pass. I also find their prices reasonable, IW is by far the 'cheapest' brand with prices averaging ¥21000.
>>
>>8899421
>>
Prints are 50/50 for me. There are a couple I love, a few I hate. I like a lot of their solids, though some of them aren't my style. I never buy IW because the fit is terrible, though.

Innocent World A-Line Round Collar OP in black is one of my dream dresses.
>>
>>8899432
While I disagree with you about it not occassionally getting scalped, I do agree with you thar IW is easy to wear. It can be dressed up or down, and can with some of its non-print or foral print pieces be worn in a mxture of lolita substyles, from sweet to gothic. It's versatile. Even better that they cater for taller girls / longer torsos.

And so is Ribbon Sleeve A-Line OP in black. IW's prints are usually pretty "meh" to me.
>>

>Prints are 50/50 for me
I hate their manner to place the prints into frames like in OP. It looks so slapdashed and kills all the pretty concepts. I think, Peter Rabbit could look so much better, if they'd put more effort on placing the artwork on the skirt.

I'm really not a fan of the frame print. It's so lazy and uninspired, but some of their non-frame prints are even worse. This print is one of the shittiest I have ever seen, and that's including non-brand cheap stuff like bodyline.
>>
>>8899421
Dumping some of my favourites. They're mostly florals though because that's what I've been looking for lately.

Not compared to AP though. My point is you're pretty much never going to drop 1,000$ on IW, compared to cat's tea party, that velvet puppet print, black cat witch and the apple tree (a few years ago, not so much now), etc.

>I don't think anyone's dream dress is IW
Um, antique rose in brown is currently my holy grail dream dress, anon.
1, because it's a beautiful dress, and 2, because I've quite literally never seen it for sale.
Like, I've only ever seen a handful of photos of it too, and they're usually the short cut. Where is this dress? Why does it never come up for sale? Did no one buy it when it came out? Does IW just have a giant box filled with this dress sitting somewhere?
If so I need to know, cause I'd drop some serious cash on this thing.
Also, sorry for the mini rant, it's just that I've been actively looking for this dress for over a year now and I'm starting to loose hope.

IW is like the quiet girl in class who sits in the back with a book and no one can ever remember her speaking. Like all the other brands get amazing releases and goods fairs and special sets. And we're just sitting in the corner quietly buying florals.

I think the thing is, IW is less of a brand for latest release trend hunters who dash from one print release to the next, turning things over at fairly high rates. IW more it seems to me to be one a lot of people buy to keep, especially in international circles. I see it come up more frequently on the likes of the Japanese second hand sites, but it's got a much lower resale value as a whole, expect for some veyr popular prints.

I've been hunting for ages for the size L Rococo Corset jsk in black, or the chiffon underbust corset jsk in violent (I annoyingly missed the rerelease of the latter to be in time to grab a size L for the torso length). Part of me also regrets not getting the grey Antique Rose long length jsk myself.

IW's solids are best solids. They florals can be amazing too. It's a brand that is constantly bringing out beautiful wearable pieces that don't rely on hype and forced exclusivity and don't go out of style in two years, and I love that.

>>8899432
They're less likely to be status pieces for various reasons, and don't attract the kind of person who gives in to hype and needs the newest kawaii cat print on their body like rIGHT NOW!!!1
Just because you don't often see people crying all over their social media about IW doesn't mean their releases aren't desirable.

This in any colourway and Cardinal Rose in cream are some of my dream prints. Grazia Crown too, but I've pretty much given up on ever getting my hands on that one.

I can't speak for everyone, but to me at least, IW is the wearable, cheap-but-generally-quality brand. It's never been something I've had a dream dress from, outside of Lotta, but then again I'm not too much a classic lolita. I see it as the best choice for daily lolita and also easy to work into a normal wardrobe.

This so much. I'm not into trendy pieces or accessories, I actively avoid them because I always feel they detract from the realistic feel I'm going for, they've become meta in their own right and I don't want to be a part of that backchannel, I want to feel like an archetype.
>>
Underbust/corset cut, solid color, long length is best. I like a lot of their head accessories and socks too. The blouses always seem a little too flimsy and busy for me.

>>
Another thing I like about IW is that they release a lot of dresses with a longer bodice. I have a long torso and all these super high empire waist dresses AP has been releasing is the bane of my existence. At least IW has a nice range of bodice lengths.
>>
>>8899955
This! Those extra couple of cm make so much difference. Doing different skirt lengths with it as well is also great.

Grazia crown, rotterdam, moonlight church, and their recent stained glass print are all goal dresses for me. I love their solids as well as cardigans and accessories.

lol newfag. Lotta did go for $1000 before the re-release.
>>
>that bolero

IW are the bomb and the best classic brand around. The have a lot more stock than the other classic brands and release things more often, which makes them look less popular when in fact, far more people love and wear their stuff than VM or MM. Their style is iconic, that damn bolero alone is.
>>
>Rabbit Letter

BCWaAT never went for anywhere near $1000. Maybe $500 max. But you don't even know the name of Puppet Circus, the most famous lolita print ever tied with IG, so you are obviously super new.

This seems like the right thread to post in. How are people dealing with the flat bodices on IW dresses? I swear they're getting flatter every year, now I'm not even being boobloafed, it's like I'm wearing a dress-shaped binder now, my boobs are being squished so flat.

I'm somewhaat worried because my dream dress is original chocolate, borrowed one from a friend and it really was too flat. She has the short version and I'm hoping to get the long version, if that makes a difference. Or do you think I should settle for the skirt instead of trying to get a dress?

Can someone tell me how different the quality was between the original Lotta and the re-release? I know there were some differences in the collar or something like that, but was it anything substantial that would detract from going after the re-release?
>>

I've read that extending the straps might help a bit, I kind of wish IW would make their dresses with adjustable straps honestly. AP does it a lot and it can make such a difference.

I agree that IW seems to be the quality-for-a-lower-price brand. The less popular prints, colors, and solids tend to lose their resell value on the secondhand market. It seems the most popular prints can be very hard to find secondhand, maybe because people tend to hold onto them.

They do solids very well. This will not appeal to the print collectors. But it will appeal to lolitas who prefer the cut to be the focal point of a piece, or lolitas who want to wear the fashion in a semi-casual office environment.

Also, most of their items are labeled machine washable: delicate cycle, cold water, hang dry. Putting them in mesh bags can be an added safety measure if you're afraid of hooks catch on lace. Red pieces need their own load, with a Shout Color Catcher sheet or two so that the dye doesn't bleed. Compared to the other lolita brands that tend to say "dry clean only" for everything save socks, IW is very easy to maintain and care for.

All IW items are made in China, but they must be doing something right in terms of quality control. The imperfect items get sold in oddment packs, but even those are decently done (and if you know Japanese, they'll have stickers and tags that indicate what and where imperfections are).

One sad thing: I've had to accept that their most common JSK cut will never look good on my 30D boobs. 30Ds aren't really that big in terms of volume (if you don't believe me, go look at bratabase), but the difference between my overbust and underbust seems to be wide enough to make the tubular bodice fit badly on me.

I'm become smitten with their underbust JSKs. An unexpected bonus/drawback is that with a fitted bra, my boobs look AMAZING in them. It's not really really full skank-mode sexy, as the blouse underneath covers up all the skin, but my SO agrees with me that the cut seems to just make the eyes gravitate there. It looks awesome, but I don't dare wear underbust JSKs to work.
>>
>>8900503
it's a vastly different shade of blue and I haven't seen it in person but in all the pictures I've seen of it the fabric looks flimsier, thinner? than the original.
>>
>>8900533
I've taken to removing the buttons and sewing them back lower down the straps.
>>
>>8899838
What is up with you salty gulls? That blue one was just on WW. The rose and stripes was just on CC a couple days ago. Lotta is on LM and WW. The one with stripes of pink or blue roses is on several sites ATM. A lot of these frequently come up for sale secondhand, that's all I meant by not dream dress status (since they're mostly fairly easy to find, if you just wait a couple months, another will pop up).
>>
>>8899975
Moonlight church frequently comes up on LM, keep checking
>>
>>8900591
so your definition of dream dress is not 'a dress I dream about owning' but 'a dress that's hard to find'? I know I climbing on the salt train here but come on.
>>
>>8900537
I have the dress you pictured. I wasn't sure about its straps until I saw it in person then it was a this must be mine now! piece. It's understatedly beautiful and so easy to wear. Their underbust dresses are great. The general thing for IW is that they design for small cup sizes on the busts.

>>8900564

Yeah, I usually move the buttons on the straps down, that's what it means to extend the straps.

There's not really a way to hide how shallow the bust darts are, though, so on some dresses there's still some visible squishing going on. Good thing IW boleros are equally pretty and do a good job of covering up minor boobloaf.

The re-release is sax blueish, the original is a less saturated minty antique blue. The original is a thicker cotton, the rerelease is a light chiffon that's kind of plastic-y (fine if you're used to AP stuff I guess).

I'm a 28D and I've been too wary of trying the underbust style since regular IW bodices look so bad on me. I may pick up one on the secondary market if they fit you well.
>>
>>8900988

Other anons were discussing IW's flat bodices, maybe that's what's wrong? VM and MM have pretty generous bust curves, so if you fit them it's possible that IW is giving you boobloaf, or the waist is not coming in to show off your own waist properly, or something along those lines.
>>
>>8901142
IW tend to design dresses for people with boobs no bigger than about a B cup. Even if you're under the measurements, things wil likely sit off, unless it's an underbust cut.
>>
>>8899661
wow do I want this
>>
>>8901149
This, and they put back shirring in so unless you're several inches smaller than the unstretched dress measurements, you have a tight, flat tube sock around your chest, which makes it much worse. If you're under the measurements, it just looks awkward but doesn't give you the flat stuffed sausage boob look.
>>
>>8900416

The corset dresses and OPs have the same problem with being boxy and awkward, and boobloafy if you're on the bigger end of people it could fit.

I really love IW. They are cheap secondhand, but some of the best made dresses I own. They are low-key and perfect for daily wear, and are classicly designed and nevery really go out of style regardless of what crazy trend is going on in the moment. I recently got this dress and when I saw it I thought maybe I couldn't pull it off and should sell it, but as soon as I put it on I knew I couldn't do that.
While I wouldn't exactly say I have any "dream dresses" from IW, I still have several high priority can't live without tier dresses from IW that I always seem to just miss, or pop up only when I dont have the money.

I've owned both in the past (original skirt in both bordeaux and brown and rerelease JSK in sax) and honestly I much prefer the rerelease. It's a lighter fabric whereas the original was a heavy twill, so it doesn't weigh down so heavily on my petticoat and makes a much better shape. I can't say much about the colour since I haven't seen the nordic blue IRL, but I really like the colours of the rerelease.

I shipped it back EMS and it cost about $80, they refunded me the full $80 as soon as they got the replacement and shipped the right dress to me at no charge.

OP here. I am typically 67-69 cm and so I would think 70 is fine if it's shirred. If it's not it will be tight on you. I don't typically have problems with waist size, just busts. Especially like people were warning upthread, C cup is about as big as you can go without getting boobloaf in IW.

Seconding their amazing service here. Baby has always been short and condescending, almost threatening in tone, but IW probably has the best service of all the Japanese brands.

I had a coupon that I used on an order and I guess it was not applied properly to the final total. They came to me weeks later and gave me the proper discount when they could have just swept it under the rug for their own sake. I don't think any other brand would've gone so far out of their way to fix something like that and possibly would've even blamed the buyer.

They sent an order of mine to Australia (I'm in California), and thankfully a kind soul sent it back to them and they were able to get my dress to me safely.

I also agree that IW have amazing customer service. They've always been so lovely to me in communications. When I ordered first my Pietro Angel jsk, then decided later on before I was invoiced that I wanted to add a tote bag added to the order to go with it (Acanthus), they were really apologetic for takign a few days to invoice me, because they'd had to get it in from a shop stock. They'd already gone above and beyond with Ms Fujwara helping the customer service person to work out what the min bust would be, and whether it would fit ok (my bust's several cm under the listed min bust, so I was concerned it would be too big). They were so lovely about it that when i managed to wear it out to a nice meal, I sent them a picture to say thank you. They then raved over the chiffon and lace blouse I was wearing, which has lace panels on the sleeves and yokes (I don't have any IW blouses as I have very long arms and I'm often worried they're a bit short for me). The customer service person went mad for the blouse, asking about it, and proclaiming that IW would have to do something like it... a few months later, blouses with features that looked inspired by my bluse appeared. I wore the bluse to an IW event several months ago, that Ms Fujwara was in attendance of.... and l and behold, last month a dress appeared with chiffon and lace paneled sleeves that look quite like the details on my blouse was released. I have no idea if that was pure coincidence, or what, but if it wasn't, that's really lovely.

Yuuup. Newfag indeed. Before the release, Lotta was well over $1k. My friend was looking for it and the cheapest she saw was $1200...CHEAPEST. I swear, I feel older each day I am in this fashion.

>Q. Who or what inspires you as a person, and as a designer?
>A. My mother.
Oh no she's adorable

I didn't know a DREAM DRESS had to be a rare or hard to find dress. They aren't mutually exclusive. WTH.

Catterflies!!! I used to have the jsk in mint and it fit like a charm. Sort of sad I sold it though since mint wasn't really a color in my wardrobe.

My dream dresses tend to be all the solid IW pieces, nothing crazy special about them, they're not flashy but they have such an innate charm that I love. They don't always pop up super often or they're currently way overpriced, but they tend to be pieces that are held onto because they're so versatile.

>In your own way, please live beautifully.

I want to weep the loveliest of tears for her

They meant it as in if it's not hard to find and it's your dream dress, you should have it already
>>

Why not buy them new? The solid pieces are pretty much the same price new as secondhand. That's what I like most about IW, it's not overpriced like AP and baby

>$200 or more for a new solid piece
Cause it's still pretty spendy? I'm use to old school prices. Just buy it off cc and it'll already be $40 less, especially as a non print.

I have a sudden raging need for this

Same here. I love the print and colours, but I have nearly no idea how to wear it. It's just more otome than lolita.

I've seen this JSK in a few colorways on Y!J, don't remember the price range but you'll find it if you look carefully.

Spring oddment packs coming soon, who's planning to get them?
Also, did anyone buy small winter lucky packs like Happy set G? Any reviews on the contents?

There's one up on WW, I really like that print

Bought it and got stuck with a pants set that I'm still trying to sell. Thinking of gambling and buying another one, now that i have gotten less salty about it. if I get a Rozen Maiden set again I will be so fucking sad lol
