I had been really excited when that teaser photo came out but looking at it now I'm just underwhelmed.
>>
>>8869735
I want to like it so much, but it's simply a bad MCD knock-off...
>>
>>8869735
My DD suddenly appeared on LM and my desire for this disappeared.
>>
BTSSB's Marie Antoinette print didn't seem to be popular. Although I wished they had more sets of OTKs for sale. Couldn't get one.
>>
Heterochromia lenses in the same colours as your coord in gothic. Acceptable?
>>
>>8869829
I think that's an awesome idea, provided you do your makeup in an understated manner. No need to go harleyquin on it.

I'd like to see more use of 'costume' accessories like contacts and vampire teeth, if only for conventions and such, I like OOT coords so much.
>>
As ridiculous as it sounds, I can't seem to get past the white doughnuts on the jsk straps. They look like huge overall buttons and it throws me off so much.

Would it be unacceptable if I wear pic related to Under the Sea? It's not lolita but I like that it goes with the theme and I want to dress casual because I will be exhausted that day. But I'm worried it's so casual that I will stand out.
>>
>>8869849
same. they look too much like armpit holes to me
>>
>baked sweets parade
>mostly donuts
>all of those donuts are fried
>you don't bake waffles either
>only thing baked is cookies

other than that being a totally unoriginal name, it's bothering my baker autism...
>>
>>8869874

Apparently donuts and waffles can be baked instead of fried or using a wafflemaker (the waffles require a waffle mold for the oven).

Maybe AP already went through names like "lolita on a diet" or "baked sweets are healthier than fried ones" and before finally settling on "baked sweets parade".
>>
>>8869878
i know donuts can be baked, but the ones in the pic, specifically crullers can't really. who knows though, they could be fancy looking cake donuts. in any case i'll take a lolita on a diet print. i can imagine meta making one with scales and measuring tapes, salads and carrot sticks and maybe frilly weights.
>>
>>8869874
Fried sweets parade ain't kawaii enough.
>>
>>8869897

Hah, I actually googled that one seperately because it's my favorite donut. I don't believe it can be baked either, but this person says it can:
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/french-crullers-51157200

Well, I'd take fried cruellers over baked ones anyday anyway, especially since she notes the baked ones come out with a firmer crust.

I'm really hoping for an MTO or the interest had fizzled a lot like Horror Garden.

Don't you guys bake your waffles with one of those thingies or is just that you don't call it baking? I'm confused because in german we do say baking waffles.

to stay ontopic, I'm really underwhelmed with the release. It's just somehow off, the print look unbalanced color as well as patternwise.
>>
>>8870023
In English, baked usually means something that is cooked in the oven.
>>
>>8869864
It's an SFE event...you know what that stands for?
>>
I posted >>8868686 in the last thread.

Heard back from the seller today. It was domestic shipping for a pair of shoes. She confirmed overcharging on shipping but said it was listed at $15 because shipping varies depending on the location. The shoes arrived in a bubble mailer but luckily undamaged.

Tbh I got a good price for the shoes because no one else placed a bid but it feels a off that she charged more for a cheaper shipping method.

I don't want to risk negative feedback for being pushy, should I let it go?
>>
>>8870024
Yeah what do you call it when you make something with an appliance that cost you 19.95?
Appliance Cooking Sweets Parade
Stop being sperges.
>>
>>8870058
the original anon said they were being spergy, calm down anon, it's not a big deal. baked sweets parade is a bit of a boring name. it should really be like melty crispy creme dreaming breakfast sweets parade
>>

I am angry that this is not a four leaf clover waffle. Missed opportunity there.

Ot I really just want the tights
>>
I hope the Japanese audience is as disinterested in this as you guys are. I'm really wanting it so I hope it's unpopular!

I actually kind of remember there being a lot of naysayers with MCD as well, but after release and it selling out everybody wanted it. Got the pink JSK at release, and it still goes for retarded amounts so I'm glad I went for it.
>>
>>8869735
I'm in the same boat and I'm probably going to buy it anyway. I have the feeling I will regret not buying it because it is pretty cute. If it ends up looking nicer in person, then great. If I don't care for it, then I'll end up selling it.

Checking with Wikipedia I think anons are wrong. These things are called baking pans. Its baking.
>>
>>8870220
When you put something in the oven you bake it. Waffles and waffle irons are generally used in America and the like on the stove, which isn't baking. You don't put waffle irons in the stove here.
>>
>>8870225
So you are ironing waffles?
>>
>>8870232

I'm not crazy about it to be panicking, but it would be nice to own. Right now I'm monitoring sales pages just to see what people are selling out of desperation to get the money to buy this release.
>>
>>8870051
yes. you had no problem paying $15 for it before. Since a lot of people GO AGAINST PAYPAL AND CHARGE PP FEES think of it as a "handlers fee" which they charged you their time, gas and packing material. If i have to buy a mailer or box i usually have to pay $3 at least plus bubble wrap, tissue paper and tape every once in a while....

but if i was the seller id probably refund you a few dollars because 7 dollars is a bit more than two or three for the box.
>>
>>8870225
no in america we use separate appliances for waffles... pancakes on the other hand are used with a pan or griddle that goes on the stove...

and personally everyone i know says "make" and "made" we dont say cooked or baked.

>im just happy magic princess wasnt that popular so i could grab it and the accesories
>>
>>8870225
The iron is similar to an oven in that the food sits in it getting dry heat from all sides. Baking refers to more things than traditional ovens.

>>
Not in a sarcastic way, I love the baked sweets debate autism in this thread. It's kind of adorable.
>>
>>8870252
Yeah I'm not going to fuss about it. Not worth the effort.
It only bothers me because all it was sent in was a medium bubble mailer and a plastic bag, for shoes. She could have sent it in a box for that price but I bet she used cheaper things so she could make back more money.
>>
>>8870051

Kind of like what happened with Holy Lantern being rereleased so quickly after Horror Garden.

I think that anon listed by most popularly sold colour, if you also look at >>8871984's description for each colourway it makes more sense.

afaik brown is the least popular colourway and gets sold pretty often.
>>
>>8871984
I committed to Castle Mirage two weeks before the rerelease was announced. At least it was the dress so the drop in price wasn't absurd, but it felt bad man. I can see where they're coming from.
>>
>>8871984
idk why this sentiment is so funny to me. I don't necessarily disagree, but I do want a re-release. I jumped on MCD last year in pink, and a re-release would be cool because a) I wouldn't be that put out by a price drop (unless the re-release were styled in a way I liked significantly more than the original), and b) I would like it in mint and have never succeeded in snagging it so far despite trying.
>>
>>8871984
that happened to me with midsummer's night dream, i committed all my vital organs to secure that dress- now it's worth maybe 1/3 of what i paid. it felt bad initially, but i'm mostly happy i crossed it off my wishlist.

as far as i'm concerned, if it's your real dream dress a price drop shouldn't matter since you'd keep it no matter what.

>>
>>8872060
I hear where you're coming from and that worries me too/has happened to me, but at some point you just need to make your mind up. Do you really care enough about wanting to own the dress where you won't mind dishing out the money or not? If you don't, then don't get it, but you shouldn't whine about not having it if you didn't want to commit. I think I agree when anon says commit or suffer. What I'm trying to say is if it's a dress you really want, and you have the funds for it, then you should be more confident in having spent that money because the dress is worth that price to *you*.
>>

a minor follow up, i messaged the seller apologizing for overlooking the requirement. she hasn't responded and i don't think i can dispute it from my end- so this might be a lost cause.

i guess these issues are the reason most SS don't want to deal with second hand apps, there's not much you can do if a seller decides to be difficult.

Why does Japan love Marie so much, serious question? Is it because she's some fancy loli cat or something? Duchess really is the superior Aristocat.
>>
>>8872364

I like the special set cut but I also really dig square neck JSKs so I'd honestly take either. Sax is shit though, so unless they ever release it in other colors this one is a wash.

Way too excited for this release, and with all this talk of a potential MCD rerelease I would be all for it, stuff losing value doesn't bother me (I don't buy with the intention of selling back anyway).

I got the jsk in pink at the time of release, so I'm hoping to get BSP in Ivory. If they did a MCD rerelease I'd probably go for the brown. Donuts are love, donuts are life.

Hey guys. I know that it is in bad taste to wear real military badges/pins/etc. Is it still tacky/shitty to wear like, a brooch made for reenactment purposes? I have a military coord in mind and I want to put some pins on the collar but I'm not sure how to find suitable ones - obviously I'm not gonna go for the real deal but someone suggested the reenactment thing. I just don't want to offend people.
>>
>>8872715
That said, if anyone had any suggestions for pin shapes or keywords I could use to find brooches that would be cool. Searching 'star brooch' comes up with a lot of fugly, non military-looking stuff and I dunno what words/names to use to narrow it down.
>>
>>8872715
Just get one from a lolita brand. I guarantee you, no one will complain.
>>
>>8870051
Here's a little shipping 101:

1. If shipping was "To Be Determined" when you bought the listing and you did not ask before bidding/buying the item, it is pretty shitty to charge that much. But it is also your responsibility to ask beforehand.

2. (Which I believe is your situation.) If it was listed as a firm $15, I'm sorry but you agreed to buy it for that shipping price, regardless of whatever the postage stamp on the package says. As others stated, PP fees, packing materials, and gas are probably factored into that amount. It is a little hard to factor them into the price sometimes, so some people just charge a flat shipping fee including everything which is not breaking any rules as it's considered "shipping and handling."

Now, if the packaging was poor (such as a bubble mailer for shoes... not really okay) warped the shoes in any way, I would speak up or leave feedback about it, especially if after calculating she could have paid for a box for an extra $2-3 that might have been pure profit.

Also, regardless she cannot leave a negative feedback in retaliation to you leaving an honest negative. If she does, speak to a mod. You could even feign ignorance in your feedback and say it was strange and upsetting that they were sent in a bubble mailer for $15 when the stamp says only $7 and you don't understand why they couldn't at least be shipped in a box. Tell her that first, if she doesn't give a small partial, just leave it as feedback and contact a mod if she leaves a negative back for no reason.
>>
>>8872723
I want to put pins on my collar though - those medals are for hanging off the breast. I know I've seen the medals but IDK if I've ever seen like an actual brooch/pin. Also the unicorn is a bit too sweet for the coord I had in mind.
>>
>>8869811
Ugh, I put off ordering it too long because I was so indecisive. I absolutely adore the print and just set out to go buy it, but now that the OTKs and headbow are gone I'm stuck wondering if it's worth it to just go for the jsk?
>>
>>8872766
You could go for the bonnet, but that couldn't see wearing one with the dress.

>>

There are buttons (actual button, like to close a shirt) that have a military crest or feel to them. Just sew or make those into pins and use them, they're fancy enough to pass but not close enough o be offensive.

If it's just coording issues, you can easily wear the dress with white lace tights. The floral headdress is still available, I think, or you can go straight for a crown since it's a Marie Antoinette print anyway.

Resale, selling with matching socks and headwear is more attractive, but people do sell jsks alone all the time, it shouldn't be too difficult to sell the dress alone.

Yeah does anyone have more info on this? I know OPs vary in size, quite a bit sometimes, but I was always under the impression from lolibrary measurements that most OPs are on the smaller side all around?
Like a lot seem to be in the 34cm shoulder width, and 60cm waist range. That's way too small for me, that's for sure. But if it's not, we'll shit, I need to buy a few things.
Unfortunately, OPs are almost always the most expensive cut. And you know, not always flattering.

This. The hardest thing for me to learn when I first started lolita is that just because I like it doesn't mean I need it. There's a lot of things that I like, but now understand may not completely be for me or will fit into my closet well.

However, I'm also someone with a handful of different themes going on in their closet lol so I would say if you want to have a separate area of your closet with just pegasus and unicorn dresses, go for it. Or even if you just want one, as long as you have a coord for it, who cares. I think a lot of people have at least 1 dress that doesn't completely fit in with the rest of their wardrobe. I don't think a completely cohesive wardrobe is necessary as long as you are able to give it its own room in your closet - whether that means you get other dresses with a similar theme or you just have accessories it can go with. Just try not to make a habit out of buying anything you like. If a large part of your wardrobe is already cohesive than feel free to get this one.

Akira started a crowdfunding page to get money to help his family out of some financial trouble, but is still buying new AP releases for himself.

Wonderfinch has been in every thread on Rufflechat that has even vague hints towards discussion of race. Usually, conversations are civil until she shows up and starts calling everyone bigots or Uncle Toms.

Pixyteri sold a dress on ebay. A seagull happened to buy it. The dress showed up with stains and damage, and Pixyteri offered only a partial refund, because "the damages don't show up in photos, so I consider it like-new".

There's more info on all of the above in other threads, but that's the gist of it all.

glad you find it helpful! this past holiday season I spent some time selling off dresses that I bought when I first starting getting into lolita. Along with just buying main pieces I liked I just bought a lot of random accessories I thought were cute, and I ended up starting out with a very mismatched wardrobe. I never wore any of it together because once I was like "okay, I think I can make a coord now" I realized nothing went together, or I thought some stuff was cute but just wasn't feeling it on me. so now I understand the difference between thinking some is cute and appreciating it from afar, and dresses that I love and know I want to have in my closet.

like I mentioned before, if your wardrobe isn't cohesive, that isn't a bad thing IMO, just so long as you make sure that pieces within your wardrobe still have a "place". like, if you're a gothic lolita and you have all religious themed items and you have very gothy blouses and big black bonnets, it's fine if you want to buy a pink milky planet jsk if you really love it and you know you'll wear it - but it's gonna look weird af if you're wearing it with one of those old school gothic black puffy sleeved blouses and black tights with red roses, a black bonnet, and big black platform heels.

that's an obvious thing - to have the appropriate accessories for the dresses that you own. I just say that it's a bad habit to get into when you first start out because in my case, you end up having a few different dresses that you have to spend more money by buying individual things on at a time where IMO it's important to save money and/or buy things that are versatile, and focus on just one style that you like. if it makes you feel better, half my wardrobe is all black gothic religious shit, and the other half is sweet with a handful of themes within.

>>8874584
this print would be super cute and would fit just fine in a classic wardrobe I think anon!
>>
>>8874758
to piggy back on anon, it's also ok if 'have accessories to match' is only a few things. You dont have to have an OTT coord planned for every dress you own. My example, most of my dresses are very red or dark, but I have one lilac dress (sheherazade). I made a few paper flowers for my hair and have a nice necklace, but other then that it's very cut and dry. It's ok though, because I love it and I think it's worth it.
>>
>>8874758
anon pls be my wardrobe cohesion coach
>>
So who else was able to snag BSP? It wasn't as much of a bloodbath as I thought it would be.
>>
>>8874795
Yea, I got a pink JSK and I'm surprised that I got it too
>>
>>8874802
Same. I just refreshed the page and the pink JSK is the only one gone so far. Hooray for us!
>>
>>8874795
>>8874802
well, if you all havent noticed... AP has upped their release quantities... they also may have fixed their website to handle more load.

ap delivered what everyone wanted.
>>
>>8874807
thats what I'm guessing too what happened since usually, if its passed two minutes, it's as good as gone.

I'm really happy too. This was the only dress I wanted this season
>>
Is there absolutely no way to order a "Stock" item from Angelic Pretty Japan? It only gives me the option of cash payment on delivery, which I know cannot be used with Tenso.
>>
>>8873728
Awh, that sucks.
>>
>>8873728
That's very interesting and a relief to know that Soufflesong was not wanting this look. Is there a reason that a stylist was able to go above the designer's wishes?
>>
>>8874686
>if it isnt HL then it's nameless poem
I assumed it was Iron Gate or something. HL at least has a lot more variety in the colours and cuts that people do different stuff with.
>>
>>8874837
not op, but my guess would be that the stylist is more accustomed to working with 'high fashion' brands and looks, and therefor assumed what would work for the runway. I'm guessing that the language barrier between SS and them would also contribute to some misunderstanding, translator or not.
>>
>>8874795
Things kept being ripped from my cart, but kept showing up in stock. I'd add it again, then it'd get ripped again. This happened with the pink then the mint. Did anything like this happen to anyone else?
>>
>>8874795

Beige JSK, matching barrette, and ivory tights. I already have Melty Cream Donut in pink, so I wanted this one in a different color. Hurray for the accessories having crossover potential as well!
>>
>>8874584
Holy shit what is this I need it now fuck

>>8874822

the smaller shopping services will do it. Tenshi, Japonica are the ones I know will do it, Tokyo Pirates can probably do it too.
>>
I bought a JSK in one order and matching tights and bow in the second order. Does AP cancel or blacklist things like that? I couldn't remember.
>>
what's up with people saying shit like "i couldn't tell my bank in time so I didn't have the money", wtf is that supposed to mean anyway?
like are they borrowing money from the bank?
>>
>>8874933
It means they're irresponsible broke fuckers who are lying.
>>
>>8874933
Some banks will flag purchases made outside the home country as potentially fraudulent.
>>
>>8874933
Some banks you have to inform for foreign purchases or they block the transaction.
>>
>>8874838
anon did say it was a dress that everyone else has though. right now, those are the only 2 dresses that are either gothic or gothic-y that I can think of that both everyone has, and gets coorded similarly. IG is popular on people's wishlists and shit but from what I have observed, not that many people own it. at this point I'm guessing that anon is likely talking about nameless poem just because of how prevalent it is and I know a lot of people do similar things with it. (and while everyone and their mom hopped on the HL mto, technically not everyone physically has it yet bc nothing has shipped yet)
>>
>>8874933
yeah what everyone else said. sometimes banks will block foreign transactions and you need to call them and let them know so they can let it go through. when I buy lolita shit I always use paypal (with my card, usually don't have money in the actual pp account) and the transaction goes through as being in california where pp is based in I guess, so I don't think it gets blocked as being foreign, but if it's late at night sometimes I think it gets blocked because of the time, maybe it thinks it is a suspicious purchase or something cause it's 2 in the morning. knock on wood but when I've stayed up for releases I haven't gotten the boot yet, though one time it happened to me when I purchased something off lacemarket. dunno why cause the money was there, I tried again in the morning and it went through fine but I guess it will block anything that the system deems suspicious for one reason or another.

That makes sense, it's tragic that AP hasn't warmed up to paypal.
>>
>>8874669
I am fearing this and it sucks because I saved up enough to buy a full set but then a new school term started and then buying textbooks ruined it.

If this print does get scalped, how much do ya'll think it would be? Would it be as bad as MCD?
>>
>>8874985
I feel like it's going to be like dream marine. Where they try to scalp it, but nobody really has a desire that strong for it to maintain a value like that.
>>
>>8875033
I feel like dream marine is a really popular print and maybe only in Japan I can see people paying for the scalped value but not here in the west.

>>8874968
I wish AP took paypal. My bank always needs me to call ahead of time before I order from AP since it's a big international order. Kinda sucks and makes me wish AP still had the international shop site.

If you do want to change up the way an OP looks, here's some ideas for very drastic changes:
- bolero, cardi -- if the sleeves fit under a cardi/bolero, and you don't mind the bodice details being hidden
- sheer peignoir or overskirt, makes a change but you can still see the details underneath.
- cape/mantua/shawl
- vests, bustiers, remember to cinch the dress first if it's a trapeze dress/high-waisted op.
- corsets, belts, waist cinchers -- these need to be appproached with care, but they can do a lot to change up a dress, particularly if it was quite plain to start with, or it was a different waistline.
- underskirts -- unless your dress is already tea-length.
- hats, shoes and bags are pretty far down the list, because it's hard to find novelty items that are interesting enough, go well with the dress, and that other people have not found already. If you do find the right item, though, you'll stand out as the "girl who wore x with y" instead of "generic girl who wore x".

If that's not really enough, you can give some thoughts to getting sightly costumey, eg:
- colourful/unusual wigs -- there's only so much you can do with natural hair, but you can stick on an unusual wig and be unusual
- props, eg: rams horns, wings, crowns etc

Jewellery and makeup doesn't really change a dress a whole lot, unless you're planning to do shironuri or cover yourself in plastic toys.
>>
Does anyone question whether they have a shopping addiction or not? I joke about it all the time, but I just paid for my latest FJ shipment and I have to stop buying for a while to build up some savings and not being able to bid on items is making me stressed out.
>>
>>8875148
Oh, yeah, I seriously think I do. I got a back payment of $1500 and spent nearly all of it within a week - mainly on brand. I'm actively trying to cut back now, but I still browse lolita shopping sites on a daily basis and I know if I saw something I really liked I would cave and buy it. It's quite scary to have such a lack of self control.
>>
>>8875148

Only when I realised I'd been shogun rank for a full year.
>>
>>8875151
Holy fuck
>>
>>8875148
>>8875149
Same. I just moved into an unfurnished place. It's costing a lot to get started, yet I still cave in to buy lolita. Not getting into debt or anything, but still..
>>
>>8875148
>>8875154
I think part of the reason I spend so much on lolita is the lack of instant gratification. When ordering lolita from Japanese sites or Taobao, I always end up waiting so long for items to arrive that the urge to buy something else kicks in. I start getting anxiety when I wait too long in between getting new things.
>>
I understand why new prints sell out fast, but what do I have to do to get soms nice burando basics? There's never any blouses, socks, headwear etc. in stock when I need them. Are the physical shops half empty or do they stock things that aren't in the webshop?
>>
>>8874928
AP doesn't care anon, you'll be fine.
>>
>>8875148
I had to block site's like yahoo auctions and lacemarket so I wouldn't use up all of my savings

>>8874968
Paypal is the worst tough. We ought to end their monopoly within lolita

>>
>>8875159
The physical shops stock things that aren't in the webshop
>>
>>8875203
This is disgusting. You really couldn't make this shit up.
>>
>>8875211
If I want to buy blouses from a physical shop through my shopping service is there any way to know what they have?
>>
>>8875203
in addition to that,
>Q-Pot cafe
>Shirokuma character cafe
>Laduree
>Marble Lounge
>Fortnum & Mason

shit's all expensive, or at least pricey. financial problems, my ass.
>>
>>8875184
Different anon, but I fucking knew it. How did I know.
>>
>>8873659
it means street fashion europe but it's obviously for lolita's so I think it would be weird if you don't wear lolita, especially if you are going to the tea party
>>
>>8875246
Aren't there other j-fashions featured? I mean at LVER there were shironuris or fairy kei or other j-fash, so?
>>
>>8875159
>>8875219

Which shop are you looking at? Most of the brand stores still have things in stock, including many different blouses.

With AP, you tell your SS what blouse you're after and they will check with the physical shop to see if it's still in stock. With Baby and Meta, you drop them an email (check their sites, both have instructions somewhere) telling them you want which out-of-stock item, then they email back and tell you how much it costs or whether it's out of stock and you buy it (backing out results in being blacklisted). With Innocent World you can also send an email inquiry, but they're a lot more miss than other brands.

If those don't suit what you're looking for then there's the secondhand market via y!ja, mbok, fril or mercari on the jp side, egl, lse and lacemarket on the western side.

not for the rerelease, it's just green & black
>>
>>8874066
I think quite a bit. I've worn mine with a vgd petti and a malco modes (separately, I mean), and I think if I stacked the two together it would still look fine, though imo the dress still looks great with just one of those. Though I also personally think the dress is one of those dresses that happens to look nice without one too, I'm thinking the heaviness of the dress gives itself some volume and shape to begin with.

>My bank always needs me to call ahead of time
Are all the anons who have to do this American? Not living in america and large international purchases being the norm here, no banks require people to do this. It seems like such an odd system to have in place unless only a very small number of americans make large international purchases.

I live in Aus and have had it happen to me before a couple of times. Both times, I did several large buys within a few hours of each other. They assumed the card number got stolen. When that happens, my bank will lock the card until you call them. But not the actual account.

So PayPal transactions still work, and I've never had those blocked, because they're directly pulled from my cheque account.
