Gulls, where do you like shopping for jfash shoes that also work well with normie wear?
I personally like DreamV/Yumetenbo but they're always sold out of my size.

These are my current faves for mori and some classic coords from Ella.
>>

I guess that's the opposite though: normie shoes for jfash
>>
>>8841688
That stitching is awful.
>>
Has anyone bought from queen bee? What's their quality like?
>>
Try Modcloth - they have super cute shoes that can be worn in and out of Lolita
>>
The usual suspects - some are more/less normie appropriate
-Hotter
-Irregular Choice (damn uncomfortable though!)
-Fluevog
-Hush Puppies
-Clarks (sometimes)
-Naturalizer (also sometimes, very seasonal)
-Melissa (particularly the three strap Melissa x VW)
-Demonia/Bordello
-Miz Mooz

For those in Australia, Ziera has also got some awesome loliable shoes - their range in store is much better than what they show on their website.
>>
are bodyline's RHS comfy?

Do they still exist? Tried finding them a few months ago and came up with nothing.

Ugh.

I'm looking for flat brown shoes that could be worn with classic as well as normie wear.
Unfortunately everything like that I find is either sold out in my size or 200$.
Do you gulls have flat shoes inspo? Or like 1cm of heels ? My feet cannot bear heels anymore.

Check out Modcloth. They have super cute flats, I would love to wear them but flats are extremely uncomfortable to me, I need at least a little bit of heel to walk nicely.

>>

I'm so butthurt that Yan discontinued this style. Can we please beg him to bring these back?
>>
>>8842763
I assumed they were since a couple aliexpress stores had them. Maybe I'll reconsider and go for antaina or something just to be safe.
>>
>>8842763
They are still sold at shops in Japan?
>>
>>8843657
Ah yes, I meant an online shop or something. I'm pretty sure they had their own Rakuten shop or something?
>>
>>8843562
People have already tried, I'm just out on taobao trying to find a similar style.

You could get generic bridesmaid shoes and shoe clips with bows, but satin is so terible.
>>
>>8843072

But only when they have sales

Otherwise those 'vegan' plastic shoes aren't worth the money.
>>
>>8843072
These shoes aren't cut for lolita though. If they had a small heel they's work.
>>
>>8843554
Let's make a petition or ask Yan to sell them again. These shoes are literally the only thing I want to buy from Bodyline.
>>
>>8843835

Not the anon who suggested the shoes, but she said she wanted shoes she could also have for normie wear, and flats are comfortable. Sure they don't do much for your legs, but I also don't like wearing heels too often unless the occasion is super dressy, or I'm sitting for most of it.

People need to calm down with flats. Plus those actually have some nice detail, they aren't $10 paper thin flats from forever 21 or anything.
>>

>>8843859
But OP wanted shoes that work for lolita AND normie wear, and these don't work for classic lolita at all. Flats simply are not appropiate for something as dressy as lolita, not even casual lolita. It's like ditching the head wear; you can't wear a frilly dress with many details and a poofy skirt and skip everything else. It's just unbalanced.
And by heel I'm talking about a very small one like pic related. If you feel uncomfortable by a heel this small, you should consider buying better shoes, because even men's shoes have bigger heels.
>>
>>8843859
Pic related, left shoe is the men's version of >>8843072 and even has a small heel. Right would be perfect version for lolita and normies imo.

>>
>>8843916
They might, but they have to have a higher heel than the low standard.
>>
I was at Forever 21 and these made me stop, are these loliable or not? I can't decide. They're like the classic version of tea parties or something. They trouble me so.

>>
>>8843922
>>8843922
They wouldn't work for lolita, if you ask me they look really bad for normies even. The heel is wide and clunky while the shoe is really thin and small. Especially lolita needs more, like more of the foot being covered and some bows.

I call bull. Most go up to 8 at least.

I want cute shoes.
>>
>>8841747

Ouch, no kidding. On the ball for the heel shaping/finish and overall finish, but wow, that stitching kills it.
>>
>>8844660
I'm a size 7.5 and it's easy for me?
>>
>>8844660
Unless that's UK sizing, that's bullshit. A size L/24.5 in Japan is about a US 7.5-8 (although it's always best to measure your foot) and most Chinese stores do up to a 39/40 which is again, 7.5-8. So you have Asian and western options...
>>
>>8844660
>mfw 8.5-9
It's not that bad, but it's just above the limit of what sizes cute shoes go until so I can't help but wondering why my feet decided to grow that extra cm.

Innocent World uses the shoes in pic related so often but they don't appear anywhere in their shop, are they an old release that's long sold out or just a random pair of shoes?
>>
>>8843835
I've seen girls using similar shoes in otome and casual lolita coords, they're Oxfords after all, they're popular enough.
>>
>>8843769
Modcloth shoes are vegan? Damn, I like them but I don't want to contribute to human stupidity. And also, if they are made from plastic, wouldn't they be cheaper?
>>
>>8845312
how are vegan shoes human stupidity? I'm so confused/not vegan
>>
>>8845388
I'm assuming in this case they're labeled as ~vegan~ only because the manufacturer is too cheap to use real leather or even higher quality material in general.

I think complete flats on dressier shoes just look weird. Something as small as pic related is better.
>>
>>8845312

It's a marketing ploy used especially by ~quirky~ cheap shoe stores to try to upsell their plastic shit. Sadly it works.

so I'm going to wear lolita to a con for the first time, and I don't want to wear flat/super low heel shoes because I have huge feet and look awful in them, is it a bad idea to wear heels? Any tips on what kinds of shoes I should get for walking all day?
>>
>>8848880
Go for medium heels rather than high, get yourself some good insoles for the shoes, and make sure you wear them regularly/break them in well before the event.

Your feet will still probably hate you at the end of the day though.
>>
>>8848880
just bring a spare pair of flats for when you get tired/feet start hurting.

>>
>>8843926
Boots don't need more than a minimal heel to suit lolita, you could try those? I often wear boots with gothic when I want a low heel. Also if you can balance on them, RHS and other platform shoes can be pretty comfy if there isn't a big difference between the toe and heel, even if they look high.
>>
>>8845562
Something that height is also more comfortable, and I say that as someone who's not a fan of heels at all (weak ankle). Really flat shoes like Converse and ballet flats are actually bad for your feet and not that comfortable after a day of walking, especially with the lack of arch support. I prefer something with a 1-2cm heel. If you look at sports shoes and running shoes, they have a very slight lift around the heel.

Need some help here, gulls.
I got a pair of shoes in from Taobao the other day and the straps on it were far too short to actually go over the bridge of my foot. The soles fit fine (if I sized up they would have been too big), but the straps weren't working out at all.
I went ahead and cut four of them off (they were mainly decorative so no biggie). I'm pretty much left with the two near the toes and then the one around my ankle, which support me enough.
Thing is though, I have pic related to deal with now. Two on one side and one on the other on both shoes. What can I do to cover them up in a cute way?
>>
>>8860381
Fuck, sorry for the huge file size. I'm on mobile.
>>
>>8860381
When in doubt, stick bows on it.
>>
>>8860381
Maybe some kind of rhinestone gems you can stick over the gashes? Just make sure you do it on the other shoe too so it looks even.
>>
>>8860381
You could artistically cluster pearls or some type of gem/jewelry around that area (and maybe back over the heel too?) so that they cover it?

Super dumb question soz.
Gulls that wear a UK 3/euro 36, what size do you usually wear in Asian shoes?
I did measure the insole length of a few of the pairs I own and it's usually around 23-23.5cm so should be easy enough, however most shoe size conversion charts list that as a uk4/eu 37, which seems to be quite a big discrepancy. What would be the safest size to go for?

Look at brands like Clarks, Naturalizer, Hotter and Hush Puppies, and have a look at sales/last year's shoes. You should find something decent for around $50, I presume you're on a budget if you're relying on bodyline for basic shoes like those.

Mojo Moxy does the Primadonna, which has three evenly divided straps
http://www.amazon.com/Mojo-Moxy-Womens-Primadona-Boot/dp/B00EM3895O

There's also the Capone, with different strap spacing, but it appears to be sold out pretty much everywhere.

I'm trying to find the other ones I've come across before, but they appear to be out of season or sold out so far. Steve Madden and Mossimo did knock offs of some VW shoes a while back that looked very similar to Jane Marple's 4 straps in the end.
>>
>>8870659
I did see Primadonna mentioned in the archives, but something about it seems a bit more mature than what I'm looking for.

>>
>>8871150
The severity will depend on what the coord looks like, but it'll be a sin regardless. Honestly though if it's going to be cold, it's better to have a less-than-stellar coord than to freeze your toes off.

I have a pair of uggs that I use as house shoes. They've never gone outside. No one but my boyfriend and the mailman has seen me wear them.

They are fucking hella warm on concrete floors. I had chilblains two winters in a row and caved, because regular slippers and woollen socks didn't cut it.
>>
>>8871248
It's not really an issue if it's not particularly snowy in OP's region.
>>
>>8871311
OT, I've always hated ugg boots but i found a pair of flats by the brand that I really want to buy but idk if I can't bear the shame.
>>
>>8871315

Still, ugg boots in cold weather are hardly the practical answer. If it snows or rains you're pretty much fucked. Personally I think it's better to invest in a pair of nice winter boots instead. If you're going to spend so much in clothing you might as well get nice shoes that don't turn to slush at the faintest hint of water.

I'm not overly manlet-ish at 5'11" but the character I want to do is like 6'1" in-costume and he wears boots. If I can get a hold of (or possibly make) screen accurate boots without the platforms, can I like cut out wedge patterns from a 2x4 and simply glue them on? Is there a better material like solid rubber or fiberglass? What kind of glue would hold wood to the synthetic rubber of the base boots? Will I break my ankle trying to walk in them? What material could I use on the bottom of the wedges so it doesn't sound like I'm wearing clogs?

Flatform/platform lace ups are usually a safe bet, particularly ankle and calf boots. Don't go for scalloped lace detailing à la Angelic Pretty unless you're trying to do sweet ouji, go for more masculine detailing like tooled leather or female shoes that are clearly menswear inspired

>>
I wear like a size 14 US women's and all I ever really see for those sizes are stripper and drag queen shoes. I have had no luck in finding anything even simple like mary janes. Is there anything I can do for lolita?
>>
>>8892548
39.5eu but my feet are very narrow. Things that fit in length pretty much always slip off my heel. I'd say they're true to size and a regular width, though you can change it a bit with the straps, which is useful for insoles that push your feet up. I say regular since I can't wear them without decently thick socks otherwise they'll slip around. I bought the 8.5, my feet measure 24.8-25cm last time I checked. The inside of the shoes are surprisingly cushy.
>>
>>8892878
Get them customized. Antaina does bespoke orders and so does Anna House, though, the former is better quality. I haven't shopped via taobao in years; any other bespoke loliable shoe shops from Taobao worth mentioning?
>>
>>8893172
People always recommend Antaina for larger shoes, but their stuff is pretty much useless for the less cutesy j-fashion styles (or that specific early goth inspired look). I lean more towards classic lolita and aristo and I have better luck finding shoes that work with my wardrobe in normalfag stores than on Antaina.

>>8892878
If you do end up going with Antaina, I recommend you pick something with a chunkier heel because they don't always scale up their heels along with the shoe size, and a thin heel meant for a size 8 shoe looks ridiculously dinky on a size 14 one.

Don't get me wrong, I love Fluevog, just not when they pull this amateur hour shit.

don't wear it around other lolitas, or post online
>wore orthopedic shoes around other lolitas
>everyone gave me the stink eye when they saw my feet

it still hurts. I had cute shoes in my purse to change into for photos though.

So, I checked, and it was actually LL (according to rakuten) so, there's that.

Having bought shoes in Japan and experienced multiple issues buying online due to weird sizing charts, I'd be pretty wary about saying an LL would fit size 26 or even that size 26 is equivalent to a size 10.

The S/M/L/(LL+) sizing seems to vary between brands but as far as I can tell, S is usually 22.5-23cm depending on brand, M is 23.5-24cm and L is 24.5-25cm i.e. some size S is good for 22.5cm, some better for 23cm...ditto with size M and L
So it may be possible for LL to be 26cm but I would definitely not guarantee that!
It's a bit like buying shoes between different brands here - I wear anything between a 6.5 and 8 in US sizing, 5-6 UK, or 37.5-39 EU sizing due to different shoe design and width.
I usually buy a size L to accommodate my foot width rather than the length, I can fit some M sized shoes. My feet are 24cm, but on the borderline of "wide" fit in the UK.

As for 26=10 it's probably best to measure your foot. No doubt some size 10 is 26cm but for other shoes it really may not be. Nissen gives the conversion as size 7=24, size 8=25 which means size 10 is 27cm which is the same as what Converse use as well...and I imagine that 1cm difference is a big deal!!

Does anyone know what ToAlice's sizing is like?
I'm about a 9.5 and I'm wondering if the 40's might just fit or not?
>>

If they're like regular chinese brands, a size 40 is gonna be more like a euro 39/size 8.

Gulls, do you have any recommendations for jfash shoes which are decent quality? I'm becoming quite desperate, all of the cute ones I've bought look so cheap they make the whole outfit look incredibly costumey.

I picked up the cream colored version. They're cute, but you get what you pay for.

If you're small and have big feet these gap hardcore at the ankle. I'm a short bigfoot and that's by problem with them.

Anon, do they ever have sizes in store that aren't online? My size has sold out online and I'm wondering if it's worth asking an american to check in store.

>jealous of your purchase

Nope. The Fluevog online store updates live according to what they have in their total worldwide inventory.

If your size is gone for one particular design and color, it's gone. And Fluevog rarely does re-releases. Sometimes they will release a new color with an already-existing design. But a past design in the same color? No.

However, you can buy secondhand on eBay or the Fluemarket.

Thanks anon, in a way that makes me happier knowing there isn't a pair I could have hunted down if geography was different. I might just settle for the Odette in burgundy, but I'm still checking the Fluemarket.

How comfortable are Fluevogs vs. something like Jane Marple's real leather shoes? I'm assuming Fluevogs are generally the better option, but I'm not sure since a lot of Jane Marple shoes have less of a heel and look very functional. Are there any exceptionally uncomfortable Fluevogs?
>>

i own a two pairs of fluevog heels and i can run in them quite comfortably
>>

Generally Fluevogs are comfortable (the real leather stretching to fit the shape of your feet helps). There are a few pairs that are made of pleather or suede, neither of which really stretch.

Some styles go a little narrow, too. I have wide feet, and passed on the Sight and Ludovika after trying them on in store.

If at all possible, try Fluevogs on in a physical store, and walk in a pair for a good while around the store (on HARD floor) before you commit to buying them. If you don't have a Fluevog store near, search online reviews.

The nice thing about fluevogs too is that they carry replacement heel caps and things you need over the life of the shoe to keep them in good order.

Fluevogs for me are not as reliably comfortable as "comfort" brands like hush puppies, hotter or Clarks and I find the sizing very inconsistent between styles in 'vogs. That being said, the one pair I own are crazy comfortable and I absolutely love them. I agree that you really really need to be able to try them on if possible.
