Personally I've been told not to wear certain colours because it clashes with my skin (brown) and asked where is the black in my coord because my hair is black. So now I literally don't wear anything unless it goes with black (like reds) or is black because I don't want to wear wigs. What's worse is people are more sensitive about wearing black shoes now more colours are available than in old school days, so I can't just have black shoes to balance things. This happens quite frequently. People tell you wear a wig purely because it could better match the colour as one of your pieces. I'm shocked how it's accepted to tell people their skin doesn't match their coord, let alone hair.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm meant to be wearing the clothes or it's the other way around.

Honestly? I don't feel like I've got very much in common with my community. Most of them are 10 to 20 years younger than me, and at different places in their lives.
I've only been to a few meets, and I'm not all that active on social media. I don't have a tumblr, and I don't spend a lot of time on facebook. Cgl is my guilty pleasure, and it keeps me up to date on any major drama or scammers in the lolita community.
