Good.

>>8815995
Literally everything they do has been putting them deeper and deeper in the hole. Its like a weird performance art.
>>
Sounds like Ohayo was a shitfest once again. Glad I didn't go. Maybe it'll be better next year...™

Seriously, these attendees are really whiny this year. Facebook page is nothing but a bunch of entitled losers.

Too bad I can't see it all because they blocked me simply for requesting to join. :^)

Godamn furries are out of control. Had one meow at my buddy for pizza.

Also there's a /k/ furry walking around. Wanted to punch him.
>>
has anyone been able to get into the ohayocon group in the last 24 hours? They seem to be either blocking everyone or just ignoring the request.
>>
>>8816479
I'd rather have badges you worthless pile of sour dog shit.
>>
>>8816668
I feel I see more furries at Ohayocon than any other convention.
I just pretend they do it so the fursuit keeps them warm outside.
>>
How many people came to the cgl meetup? I wanted to come ; ( was at the masquerade desu. Anyone meeting later tonight?
>>

>>
>>8816725
Any qt Reys?
>>
>>8816731
There were a few.
>>
>>8816676
Oh shit I'm not the only one? And here I was thinking it was because my name wasn't in English and they thought I was a spambot.

Yeah, I was blocked too. Tf are they doing this for.

>>8816722
Busy working doesn't explain why they're literally blocking people. Its not just that they're ignoring requests or else we'd just be sitting at pending.
>>
Wow rave still has a line at 12:15
>>
Any one going to be attending Anime Hell?
>>
Did that guy who posed by all the ass cracks at a Magic the Gathering event really go to the con?
>>
>>8816978
Yup and everyone is/was going nuts over him.
>>
Fuck niggers, rave time. Seriously why do I only attract niggers. Wtg
>>
Apparently:
A joint was lit in the rave
Drinks are getting drugged
A girl dressed as a classic Harley is missing.
The sky is falling.
They should have just skipped this year with all of the construction. With all of the bitching on Facebook the majority of attendees wouldn't have minded.
>>
Is the staff getting physical with the con goers?
Read a post about someone getting slapped and another one where they ripped someones costume
>>
con sucks/ smoke seesh area kinda filled with dirty idiots lol anyone wann hang?
>>
>>8817033
Lol
>>
>>8817033
should I not feel bad about skipping this year then?
>>
>>8817133
No. But me and my friends honestly had a great time. I think it might of been due to the fact our panels were before the staff started getting real cranky. I heard there were issues where people were getting bitched at for lining up at a panel 30 min in advance and were told to come back 10 min before instead. And some girl was slapped by a staff member...? I don't even know how much of that is true but everyone is getting the pitch forks ready.
>>
>>8817137
And what the hell is up with that chick in the Facebook group that didn't even go but is hoping on any complaint post to bitch about the con like it's her job? She said she's a state away in fucking labor but justifies her complaints by saying she paid $60 for a badge. Can we pay you $60 to leave this group pls?
>>
>>8817137
>And some girl was slapped by a staff member
is that even legal?
>>
>>8817144
Aren't most "staff members" poorly trained volunteers after a free badge though? This isn't some elite force of highly trained professionals.
>>
>>8817158
>poorly trained
No one is trained at all.

Yeah he lives in Columbus apparently. My friends said they see him in Mad Mex occassionally and him inside Mad Mex was one of his pics on tinder lel
>>
I was there. It's okay to wander around for a few hours, but every year I buy a badge, use it to get into the dealers room, buy a graphic tee, and that's usually it.

I went to Tea Time with Deadpool because of who I was with. It went better than expected. Won free tickets to the movie.

If they halved the price of the badge it would probably be a lot better. I also encourage hiring random hallway goons to harass shitty people.
>>
>>8817188
>I also encourage hiring random hallway goons to harass shitty people.

No. Nah. Ohayo us barely organized enough to get together a schedule on time. I don't trust them with actually being able to manage chucklefucks.

I hate to say it even more, but I feel more comfortable with the local police being on sperg-watch
>>
>>8817189

Now that I think of it.

You're right.

Finding a fucking schedule was nearly impossible. Turns out some random dude in the vendors room had them. The people at the info kiosks were clueless, the website listed times of events but not location, it was a fucking mess.

I was having fun though. People wanted photos of me. It was fukken sweet.
>>
>>8817191
What was someone in the vendors room doing handing out schedules?
Who did you go as?
>>
>>8817197

I was Krieger from Archer.

And the guy was a staff person. Had a table at the edge of the room. The schedule was that goofy fucking newspaper.
>>
>>8817201
Very nice. I hope to get to see a picture of you up.

That reminds me of how huge their schedule was last year. They need to learn that ease of use trumps design when you're going to have the thing with you the entire day.
>>
>>8815853
Fuck you guys, I had a lot of fun this year. But goddamn if the place being under construction wasn't weird as hell
>>
>>8817033

>someone smoked a marijuana!

people still give a shit? it's 2016.

drinks getting drugged is pretty awful though, if that's actually happening.

>>8817941
We went to three panels, browsed the dealer's room and artist alley while dozens of people wanted pictures of our cosplay. We mind our business and enjoyed a weekend with friends, why are you so uptight anon?
>>
Wrestling cosplayers were too good.
>>
>>8817933
Glad I'm not the only who wanted to punch his autistic mouth.
>>
>>8817961

Right?

Who were you dressed as? I was Doctor Krieger.
>>
This year's con went by so fast I was shocked. There were several disappointments for me; some of my favorite dealers weren't there or they didn't have as good other stuff, the rave was not worth standing in line for, and I felt bad for the people that were in line at midnight. As predicted, the junction between the hallway from the hyatt into the con center got fucked a few times on Saturday. Despite the little space to walk people still would stop and stand around in the way of everything.
Saturday morning we tried to go look out the skywalk to the Hilton and there was someone trying to do a marriage proposal in the skywalk. While we all waited right outside until they were finished, I would not have felt bad walking through.
>>
>>8817966
Didn't cosplay at the time, but I do remember seeing a Krieger. Pretty good, Anon.
>>
>>8817979

My girlfriend was doing the Krieger Waifu.

Then she changed her shoes because her feet hurt, then she took off the wig during that panel.

Me telling her she's breaking character for a mediocre cosplay is probably why I have relationship issues. She's the reason I started doing it in the first place.
>>
>>8817972
That hallway was hell and the panels we wanted to go to the most involved the GCC rooms. I swear that booth with all the JoJo figures seemed expensive as fuck, but couldnt help myself anyway. I was underwhelmed with the guests and panels this year.

oh wait, this board is mostly women so you ladies don't have to imagine it, you're living it.
>>
>>8818041
You're the only person bitching though lol
>>
>>8817033
None of these things actually happened. Also like >>8817736 said the drink spiking rumour goes around every year.
>>
>>8817870
Why is this a problem? The only way I see it being a problem is if the couple is being obnoxious with PDA or something.

I went with my husband and we minded our own business. I am clueless as to why someone would think we were annoying at all.
>>
>>8817140

I'm not surprised really. They don't advertise as far as I know. I think they've just been drifting off of word of mouth. High Schoolers telling other high schoolers and so on and so forth.
>>
Props to the cool security guy who didn't kick us out when we were banging on the 4th floor overlook above the ballroom.
>>
Did anyone else find it weird that they were using a lot of regular convention center staff? At registration, sitting by elevators, they even had an older later checking for badges to the artist alley today

I was dressed as Chibiusa for most of Saturday and ran into the most awkward assortment of autistic fucks. I'm thinking the SM fanbase was like late 20s/early 30s women and instead I was surrounded by 30s-40s men, some clearly mentally delayed and... A girl who had to be like 6-7. She latched onto me and kept squealing 'mini moon!! mini moon!'

Colossalcon is really the only con worth going to in Ohio, now.

I might go to Ohayo next year but I might be another one of many who don't bother getting a badge. This con is run by money-hungry jews. Well, every huge con is, but at least Colossal presents itself well.
>>
>>8819317

Colossalcon is doing pretty well at least, which is nice. One of the organizers who does most of the community outreach announced they'll be hosting a second Colossalcon the 2nd weekend of September starting in 2017. Location would be different though, it's the new Kalahari resort in eastern PA.

Downside to that of course is that it is right after Dragoncon, so a lot of east coast folks might skip it.

>>
>>8819370

About 5-6k is probably accurate. The programming at this one has been historically pretty good and the game room is great.
>>
>>8819291
wow that's even worse. wonder if she'll pay for the damages
>>
>>8819362

>>
>>8819384

Nice. Maybe I'll go down to check it out this year. That attendance count is roughly around what I encountered during my first Ohayocon (2006, 2007?). Ahh, the good old days.
>>
>>8819388
Probably not, she's always going on about how she's depressed and has no money and no car. I just feel bad for the girl that was trying to be nice, she had to leave the con to take the chick home
>>
>>8817941

>>
>>8817191
The printed schedules had errors anyways. It had a few panels that my friends and I were going to listed as starting later than they did. That bit sucked, but this is actually the best Ohayo I've had for a while.

It's not really a good con and I wouldn't recommend travelling more than like 2ish hours for it, but it's big and local for me.
>>
>>8819316
>At least the dealer room was good
Dude, no.
>>
>>8819520
what was bad about it?
>>
>>8819566
It was the same old tired shit that's there literally every year, same areas and everything.

The better dealers with the good shit weren't even there this year.

I guess it'd be fine for your first time but it followed the trend of Ohayocon slowly but surely degrading each year.
>>
>>8819568
Not the anon you're replying to. While I agree for the most part, Ohayo manages to stuff more vendors than a lot of cons in the area do. The only nearby con that I'd say has a better DR is probably Youma and that's in a different state. I honestly think they have a better variety than Colossal and I can't think of any Ohio anime cons that come close to the amount/variety.

AA blows ass, though. (Except for lolita stuff)
>>
>>8819568
oh, well it was my first Ohayo.
>>
>>8819573
Columbus is lucky to have 3 great lolita indie brands (Elegy, VooDoooDolly, and Paradise Rose). I know L doesn't live here, but she has ties to Columbus hence why I include Paradise Rose.
>>
>>8819388
I don't think it'll be bad. We got most of it out. It's nothing that a little home cleaning agents can probably remove if there's anything left. I didn't really notice any red left after we were done absorbing it all with napkins.

Girl's going through some really tough shit though. She wanted to come to have a good time. It's one of those situations where you're so depressed and just trying your best to do something that makes you happy, but it entirely blows up in your face.

Don't be an ass.
>>
>>8819568
How many new vendors do you expect to pop up anymore? Ohayocon vendors keep pretty up to date with new figures coming out and stuff.

The reason why Ohayocon Staff continues to go downhill is because Alan and Melissa (the con chairs) continue to drive good staff away. There is only about a 1/3 decent staff left. If they leave, It will get worse

I wish I could say I was more surprised, but knowing all of those guys I should have seen it coming.

Artist Alley has been no-fanart for a couple years now, so you're late. On one hand I do appreciate some of the beautiful works and hand-made clothing, but I still just want my fanart.
Also ever last year's dealers room was better. There were a couple of notable dealers missing and so many people had the same shit. I may be a little upset Kawaii Gifts didn't have grab bags but other than them, finding kawaii stuff was pretty limited and the other dealers had many hideous bootleg plushies mixed in.
>>
>>8819814

I went to both this "cycle" (since Matsuri is summer and Ohayo is well winter) and honestly in terms of photography/planning ratio, Matsuri seemed much more well planned and more fun than Ohyao. Ohyao felt as crowded as Katsucon did, but with the construction it was a mess. I got a bunch of fun photography and all that, but it was fucking awful having to play the MARCH LEFT/RIGHT and deal with the convention center staff. They felt more not dickish, I mean they are doing their jobs, but the (actual convention center, the orange shirts)they felt more, I don't know, like angry?

Security for Colossal has kinda sucked for a couple years. The original head of security had a kid on the way so he had to step down. His replacement was a posturing bag of rectums nobody (not even other departments) wanted to work with, and this was literally right when attendance started to hit 5 digits so security was regularly understaffed. That guy got booted after 2 years and now there's 2 new (competent) security leads but the problem is finding enough security staff who aren't shitbabies, flakes, or drunks who piss on the furniture.

Polite sage for not about Ohayocon.

Ohayocon defending its turf from Colassalcon by rejecting their registration booth in the Dealer's Room. I mean Cons help each other out by setting allowing them to have booths. It's a gentleman's agreement.
>>
>>8827043
I'm assuming ohayo had a table at colossal?
>>
>>8827047
Colossal and Ohayo usually have tables at each others cons.
The other thing to keep in mind that Ohayocon denied tables to Matsuricon (Not surprised, they hate each other), Colossalcon, AND Acen...yet Yoi-con not only got a table, but they also put up posters and flyers around the convention (Which was apparently against the Ohayocon rules, but no punishment has been mentioned)
>>
>>8827129
I remember ACen having a booth at Ohayocon a few years ago. Now they can't? It's the largest Anime Con in the Midwest and is held in April/May. It's disrespectful not only to the cosplay community, but cons in general. If you're having bad rep, you will be ignored. Thank goodness I stopped going.
>>
>>8827129
This sounds all kinds of weird. A huge part of staff at Ohayocon also works for Matsuricon.
Those Yoi con posters really irked me, because it was nothing but screen shots and stolen fanart. But since they were advertising how Greg Ayers was going to be there, I think I understand why they let them put up posters.
But why should colossalcon even be bothered? I live in cbus and would definitely take Colossalcon over whatever trainwreck yoi con will be.
>>
>>8824547

on the topic of the raves, why do cons always book the drum and bass/hardstyle locals?

there are so many touring dance acts and new genres of dance music, and they still just hire the same dj's year after year.

has it occurred to these guys that the rave itself could probably make the con a ton more money if they just brought in REAL headliners?
>>
>>8827043

free con at kalahari the weekend of ohayo?

>>
>>8827982
Hardstyle DJ here, I think you may be thinking of Uk Hardcore (If its the genre the same BPM as DnB that you are thinking of, think old happy hardcore). I have played at a ton of cons around the US and as far as I know I am like 1 of maybe 3 hardstyle DJs who have ever played at cons over the years.

As for the same people year after year I can't comment on Ohayo, but most conventions still make all people apply, so those same acts just know their genres and put out some really good mixes that are just better than the rest of the people who actually apply. Plus keep in mind, about 90% of all con DJs play these cons FREE, repeat most of us do not get any more than a badge, its sad, but its dictated by the con chair and the over saturated "Con DJ market"

As for hiring actual headliners, MOST cons don't actually care to dump that much money into the rave. I have heard of some cons even arguing over whether or not DJs should even be listed in the con-guide/website or given free admission, even though a lot of them are playing free and for the exposure that large con crowds can bring.
That and by bringing in professional headliners, you also run the risk of bringing in the "non-con crowd" that would bring an increased risk of drugs/harassment as these people have been to a ton of raves, but probably never a con before. I have had this discussion with many con-chairs/head DJs and that is a legitimate concern among con staff.

i respect your opinion m8 but with this con it actually is a problem of just hiring your friends to play the same genre all night. con dj's do get paid here, and it's just another kickback.

and they say "lol bruh obvs you havnt been paying attention but i play LOTS of genres" but they're all the same tempo and have that big hardstyle CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG its fucking headache inducing.

The Colossal con chair has been tight lipped about it after that message. I asked 2 high-up staffers and they said, "I'm not sure but he sounded pretty serious about it." So I would take it as a strong possibility of happening.
Remember the Kalahari LOVES Colossal, and LOVES having there resort filled in off-seasons.

There is the risk of another event hurting colossalcon prime. They are already planning on doing Colossalcon East, in PA. Stretching their capital between three different events is a good way to kill Colossalcon.

>>
>>8832090

imo yeah.

no homeless people wandering around, you don't have to be outside in the bitter cold for any reason, and you can go swimming when you get tired of the con, and vice versa. You're options are not simply, "con floor" and "room".

ohayo is just not that cool. Mostly because the con space is so dirty. The bathrooms are fucking disgusting. i know it's hard to get them cleaned every half hour, but they NEED to be cleaned every half hour. Because the crowd is gross.

secondly because the panels are not that great and the "rave" feels dated compared to what else is going on musically in town and around the country.

Colossal, even fap, is just a better event. and if there is a way to take revenue away from ohayo, that may be the push they need to make the con something new, bigger, and exciting again.
>>
>>8832789
Argee that that ohayo needs a push in the right direction but i have to object on your points about colossal/FAP being far superior events.

The kalahari is just as, if not less photogenic then the GCCC. With it being winter and lossing the outdoor park, even more so. You'll get great shots of your Jumanji cosplay and not much else.

Colossal's programming is awful. The content is often meme lordish and usually consists of a drunk guy showing you image macros. Their dealers is far inferior to ohayos selection and layout. Ohayo does need to step their aa game up.

I also hope you enjoy the rooms that are x3 as expensive and the complete lack of food outside of a over priced onsite restaurant, which is really just bad toruist food.

As for the crux of argument that there more to do then just "con floor" and "room" that isnt really valid because those are your choices for every con.
>but you can go swimming
Yeah you can but why did you come all this way to go a con just to go to a waterpark that you could go to anytime?

The kalahari is not a redeeming enough location to gloss over the phoned in con that colossal is.

(you are right about ohayos rave tho)
>>
>>8832917

I've been going to Ohayocon for ten years, and Colossalcon since year 3. Colossalcon is far superior right NOW, because Ohayocon refuses to do anything new.

Ohayocon gives no shits about their attendees, no shits about their own rules and standards, no shits about their relationship with other cons, and no shits about their vendors/artists. Having vended at both events in the past, Colossalcon is far superior from a monetary stand point, a communication standpoint, and a professionalism standpoint.

Ohayocon's programming, guests, rave, everything is dated and typically a copy/paste of years past. They never do anything new. If people agreed that Ohayocon was a superior con, their attendance wouldn't be going down while everyone FLOCKS to Colossalcon. If living in Ohio with the funds for -1- con a year, people choose Colossalcon. It's an easy decision.

Just because you can't afford some higher priced things in life (food, resort prices, etc) doesn't mean it's a bad show. For those that can afford it, and can afford to splurge a bit on a much nicer venue, it's fantastic. And have you been to the Kalahari? There's 3-4 places to eat there now. And each is a different price tier, with completely different types of food. It's better than Ohayocon's shitty fast food court. Makes me think you haven't been there in a few years to see the renovations.

And con floor & room, that's it at Colossalcon? Sorry, but the water park is more than just boring "swimming". It's beautiful, and makes for a lot more interesting layout (even in the winter) than the GCCC. On top of that, there's a bunch of other things to hold my interest.

You pay more for a better experience, and Colossalcon offers that. Ohayocon got lazy, and now they're paying for it with complaints, poor attendance, and a board that treats fans, vendors, and artists more like they're an irritating inconvenience rather than the very reason the con itself even exists.
>>
Basically I think the "free con" thing was just a jab at Ohayo that doesn't actually have any weight behind it.
You really think they would spend the cash to rent out space to give away a free con just to spite Ohayo? And so close to Ichibancon, which shares most of the staff? This is never gonna happen.

Ohayo has no threats to it thanks to its date and history and its really hard to build anything to challenge it. I don't think it'll ever get fixed except through the inside. No "free Kalahari con" will change that.
>>
>>8833190
This.

If you want to wait in long lines for mall-tier food court food, feel free. Sure, the food they offer in the concession stand is overpriced. But the Kalahari offers a wide variety of places to eat all from lower price prices up to middle-end dining. The food is pretty good, and I'm sorry that you anime plebs can only afford $6 chicken fingers.

Not all the panels and events are shit-shows. But I do agree that the new programming head needs to step up his game on choosing panels. But also, consider that panels aren't provided by the staff, not that some staffers do run panels or host events. But it's attendees who do panels as well. If you want good panels SUBMIT them instead of whining. At any rate, they try're always trying new things, investing the money on hosting other events and constantly changing it up.

Ohayocon offers shit, does nothing new. The con chair pockets money and nothing happens. There's not been a concert in years, and that was a shit-show. The rave is shitfest. Guests are often no-namers and people like Greg Ayers who are washed up nobodies now since ADV went defunct years ago. Ohayocon is the same Ohayocon I attended in 2005 minus staffers and con chairs. It's not changed but the prices for admission keep going up and up.
>>
>>8833211
Exactly. There's 2 restaurants upstairs, a huge open buffet style new restaurant post renovations, and an affordable snack/sandwich shop downstairs by the arcade that has some great, healthy sandwich & salad alternatives. Pair this with the fun treats at the candy hut and their great coffee shop...and I don't see how you could compare Subway and Chicken & Eggs to it. If you need to save your money so hard for a con that resort prices bother you that much, sorry about your luck. I save all year to go to Colossalcon and live it up for a weekend.

I hit the spa, the water park, dick around at the mini bowling ball game drunk as hell, see & feed some cool animals, and take a massive amount of unique shots of cosplayers cosplaying things that wouldn't be doable in most venues (the epic custom swimwear cosplay there is unique and usually exclusive to that one show).

I for one am always entertained. If some of you aren't, and think Ohayocons venue is just as good as the Kalahari.... then I have to ask. What's your employment status with Ohayocon? Because you must be on their payroll.
>>
>>8832917
>As for the crux of argument that there more to do then just "con floor" and "room" that isnt really valid because those are your choices for every con.

that's why i pick colossal every year as the con im going to go to, because i only get one shot at a good vacation and i want to have choices.

i don't want to feel stuck between nerd herds and going to my room, i want to be able to walk around outside without getting accosted by the weather and go swimming/get drunk at the same time.

Even since before "I" was born, and I'm 30.
>>
>>8833190
Truth bomb

Also adding that even in winter time there are a hell of a lot more places for photo ops at Kalahari. Most cosplayers are willing to brave the cold for good outdoor shots.
If you don't like the food options at Kalahari there are tons of restaurants up and down the road.

I liked your point so I’ll actually sort through yours.
>Sure, the food they offer in the concession stand is overpriced
By that you mean heat lamp pizza.
I really enjoyed that everyone listed all of the available restaurants and not one of you pointed out that there is no need buy food at the Kalahari. Every room comes with a microwave. So even if you don’t get a family suite with a kitchen you can still prepare your own food and save you shekels for what counts. Buying PVC anime tity. I mean cosplay. The same with booze. Like buy a big cup but the resort is open container why don’t you bring your own? You’ll probably pour heavier than their bartenders who don’t want to serve cosplayers.
>If you want good panels SUBMIT them instead of whining.
I always love this. I’ll make sure to submit 20 hours programming so colossal is good on that front. But nah when I attend a panel, any panel, and the panelist are ALWAYS drunk. It’s a problem.
>At any rate, they try're always trying new things
Like their peep show.. I mean burlesque show

>>8833190
I can’t really argue with you. That’s actually a lot of insider stuff I didn’t know. I agree Ohayocon got lazy. I’ve been going for 7 years and I’ve noticed the same decline. If nothing else hopefully the GCCC renovations will make it look less like a airport and maybe a little more photogenic. Not that the con should get credit for the hotels renovations. Which brings me to my main point.

>>8833997
>>8833348
>>8833255

I wasn’t really trying to pat ohayo on the back. Every criticism leveled is completely fair. I just really don’t understand the handjob everyone gives colossalcon because the best features about colossalcon are Kalahari amenities. Like I get there is a lot of virtue in just being a con. Being a place where all your friends can meet up for a specific weekend, I get that. That said, Colossalcon get so much undue praise, not based on its content, but purely on the amenities offered by its location. I have to ask though, colossalcon is really your only vacation? Like if it is, I get you hype levels. But wow. You don’t go to any other summer cons? say outside of ohio? Like call me cheap for not wanting the overprice buffet but I have to go to Canada, Maryland and California too.
>>
>>8833999

> I just really don’t understand the handjob everyone gives colossalcon because the best features about colossalcon are Kalahari amenities.

First rule of cons is location, location, location. It's a great location.

I'll concede that panel content is not that great, and dances vary in quality, but with the introduction of the Sunday Flea Market, well, whoever made the decision to do that deserves a medal. it is without a doubt the coolest event of any con i've been to and i have been able to get a lot of old, out of print merch as well as sell old things of my own that would cost me an arm and a leg to ebay.

last year i made 300 bucks in an hour just hustling old figures and comic books i didn't have room for. shit MOVES.

and yeah, it's my only con vacation. i have a real people job and limited time off, i honestly don't have time to go con hopping, if im going to travel i want to be outdoors and get the local flavor and not stuck inside a hotel for a weekend.

This is a happy medium of inside and out, plus it's bike week in sandusky so if you want to go see some wild shit or just catch a free concert you just have to cruise up and down the road a bit at dusk til you find something going on.
>>
>>8834060
I'm a little iffy about the location because i dont feel it's horribly photogenic across the board for all cosplays. But i understand where you are coming from.

>Sunday Flea Market, well, whoever made the decision to do that deserves a medal.
I feel this. I buy nothing in dealers but blow all my money on this guarge sale.

It has quite a few places outside for photos. There's a nice field/wooded area out by the villas thats pretty popular.
>>
>>8834156
If you have the right cosplay for it the water park isnt bad. Yes the feild in the back and woodline are good too. The animals are also fun to shoot with.

Im personally not a big fan of the arcade for shoots. Most of the time it doesnt fit the charater. The Savannah grass is covered in people and garbage now making it hard to get a clean shot. Especially since they cut the grass. With the front bridge you normally end up with the building or the parking lot in the shot. The halls are over stuffed not that the dim lighting will help you much. I guess it's the classic you can find better locations outside of a con but it just seems like a hassle. I'll vacation at colossal and premiere a large cosplay at otakon.
>>
>>8833929

Yea, the GCCC has a ton of epic places for outside/snow/nature shots (lololol). The Kalahari is leaps and bounds better for every single thing regarding cosplay. The GCCC isn't horrible, but a large steel building with no real interesting/pretty places our doors... during the winter... isn't exactly a photographers dream.
>>
>>8833999

The best part IS the Kalahari amenities. And who do we have to thank for convincing the Kalahari to do this show on the cheap in the early years to let it grow? Colossalcon is practically responsible for the huge renovations there too. On top of that, how often to anime con kids get to go to A RESORT for a reasonable price? The rooms may be pricey, but no where NEAR as pricey as they are before the con block discount.

But outside of the Kalahari perks, the grounds are beautiful. It's location is also supreme. Want to drive to get good in downtown Columbus? k. Have fun getting your vehicle out of a parking garage, driving down a bunch of city streets, parallel parking at a parking meter, or driving a bit away to find anything interesting. Sandusky is a fucking breeze to navigate and drive up and down. One road. Tons of restaurants. I see people from the con ALL around Sandusky. And Cedar Point.

And I never said it was my only vacation. I said it was the -1- con in Ohio you choose if you can only choose -1- con a year. From an attendees stand point. No one picks just Ohayocon and skips Colossalcon any more. I just said above I'm a vendor. I've been to every state in this country, I'm over seas multiple times a year, I get around just fine. I attend more cons in a month than most do in a year, and most of those turn into a vacation before/after. Long story short, I've been to a lot of places in this country and Colossalcon is still an enjoyable experience and by far the better experience between it and Ohayocon.

Colossalcon had to work to get the Kalahari to hold the event. Had to work to get the price reasonable. It took a long time to get it to where it is. The owners & staff researched it, sought it out, and reap the benefits of the amenities and grounds. If it's such an obvious story of success for an anime con, why didn't anyone else snag it up? Colossalcon deserves just as much praise as the Kalahari for the success of their own event.
