I think they tried to be too many things. It was "Art Deco" but I didn't see much Art Deco in it just the invitations. Then it was pink Sailor Moon and normal shit all thrown in a big mix.

Friends had a normal wedding for the most part. The only weeby aspects were that the groom's cake was One Piece themed and the bride wore a gown modelled after a video game character's ballgown.

If you weren't familiar with the game, it wasn't even vaguely obvious that it wasn't a normal wedding gown, and the cake was cute. Better made than the off-roading/4WD cake my cousin's husband had as his groom's cake.

I knew a girl that literally wanted Yuna from FF10's wedding scene. Not just the dress the scene. She wanted the groom to be dressed up with wig of Seymour and find a venue like the place shown. The entire works.

I knew a couple that dressed as Lulu and Euphemia for their wedding. Best man and woman were Dizzy and Sol Badguy iirc. They split less than a year later. She claimed she hit him, but she was already a huge drama whore and eternal victim.

I went to a steampunk wedding once, the bride looked awful and none of the other guests made the slightest effort apart from me and about 2 other people. They even called the local newspaper to cover it and lied about how they met saying the bride and groom met at work when actually the groom had been best friends with the brides father and held her as a newborn... There was another wedding in the room next door and everyone was pressing against the window to look and laugh. It was a messy day... The best man was meant to be the entertainment and do stand up comedy but he didn't prepare a single thing and started asking the audience if they had any jokes... He got removed when he kept asking if he could tell a certain "death star" joke that was apparently rather offensive or lewd. Might still have some photos somewhere

I wonder what older relatives think of this. How does grandma react? I'd love to see the looks on their faces.

The groom's cake at a co-worker's wedding I attend was shaped like the Death Star. It was honestly really cool looking and the bride ordered it in secret, so he was super surprised and loved it. Other than that the wedding was normal and beautiful, the bride's dress was one of the nicest I had seen in a long time. But I just remember how excited the groom was when he saw his cake, he was practically glowing and the bride was so happy he was enjoying himself.

I'm planning my wedding for the summer. I wanted to throw in some geeky stuff but decided against it because I don't want my wedding photos to look dated 5 years from now. I am buying a ton of decorations from AE though.
I really wanted a lolita-looking dress but they're all so short. I really don't dig the flat form fitting satin dresses it seems like everyone else is getting. Gotta have poof.
