I think it depends on where you are, Kotori and Nico are also most common around the cons in my area. Rin for least common and Umi/Hanayo for 2nd least common.

Is it just me or is there someone hitting these threads and incessantly shitting on Nozomi's? That cosplayer definitely isn't perfect but she's fine. There's lots worse out there. There's someone lurking in these threads with a Nozomi shrine being unnecessarily salty over their waifu. .

In my area Kotori and Nozomi are the most popular, with Maki and Rin also being very popular and then Nico. All the others are less common.

Which color scheme of the girls do you prefer, the anime/movie scheme or the School Idol Festival scheme?

I personally prefer the School idol festival colors more. I hate Maki in Magenta, and I Honoka in Red is not that good either. Though i do think it would've looked good if they kept the dark green/turqouise on Kotori

I'm planning to cosplay this nico next month and was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on how to get the cut outs on the collar? I'm stumped on how to get them clean cut with no fraying.

if you have a huge amount of time, sew the edges (like, just completely cover the edges with thread, a straight stitch is what it seems to be called?)

otherwise, maybe just cover them with some fraying sealant thing (there are liquids sold for this afaik) or if it's a synthetic material you could try the burning method.

I got it for christmas with no specific character to use it for, but recently I've gotten back into love live and I like a lot of her outfits. I really don't care for this artist's style but desu the thing that bugs me the most is that Nozomi and I have nearly the same given measurements (except for waist, because her waist is impossibly tiny). I know these artists aren't paying attention to given weights/etc, but it still makes me feel like they're calling me fat too. I struggle with ED too so it's just... gah. I know they're trying to "add" representation but it just comes off as stereotypical and offensive to me. I think the new choir set is really cute. I've got a big pile of white fabric laying around, so I may have enough to make a large portion of Eli's outfit. I lucked out that I have two friends who do LL cosplay too. One likes doing Rin and the other switches between Maki and Nico. My go to is are usually Eli or Nozomi, but I also like Hanayo. So thankfully we've got some flexibility with the three of us at least.

Honoka's hair is a bit of a darker, warmer orange. If a group ends up with two wigs of the same color, the Honoka's wig could be lightly tinted with some brown.

Depends on the cosplayer, I think-- girls with very pale skin can pull off a bright orange wig, but girls with tan skin or yellow undertones need something a little more subtle. Her hair color varies with the art, so just go with what works best.

As far as I can tell I have very similar proportions to her (a little taller and bigger in each measurement by about 1-3 inches for each one) and I always have people complaining they could be as skinny as me. Eh, I don't think that Hanayo's measurements would be considered chubby even by Japanese standards. She'd probably be about a size 2 in american sizes, which seems to be considered average in Japan?

I think that she's not meant to be chubby in the sense that she's fat or overweight, just that she's squishy and not in shape. Skinnyfat, if you will.

If you do any taobao or shopping for lolita brands you can tell quickly their size standards are much different. An Asian XL garment is more like an 8-10 US. Smaller people in general and not a lot of huge portion sizes.

What I find hilarious is in the anime they have a whole episode dedicated to putting Hanayo and Honks on a diet and exercise routine. But in the mobile game Hanayo tries to diet and everyone acts like she's anorexic and tell her that her chub is part of her appeal and she needs the energy to keep up her performance stamina.

I think that episode was more that they had gained a lot more weight, which is a pretty big deal because they gained it on top of idol activities. I think the worry was that they wouldn't be able to keep up with the rest of the members. It is a bit silly, though. I guess Hanayo's regular, slightly-"chubby" frame is what they're talking about in terms of her appeal.

For those doing the Cyber Outfits, any tips/tricks for the headphones? Such as where to get the jewels, etc.

I'm not really confident in my crafting skills (I don't want it to look bad in comparison to a decent pre-made outfit) but at the same time I don't really want to spend $24 on just the headphones alone. Honestly, it might be worth to just spend the $24 on something premade. Yes you can make them yourself, and maybe make them look a bit nicer, but the supplies + your time will be worth much much more than $24.

I'm also in the same position, and frankly I think I'm gonna try making them. I was thinking of getting a LED strip which is around 8 euros/m, and buy some inexpensive headphones second-hand or at the dollar store. Like myself, I have a pretty large bone structure and people say I look a good 20 lbs lighter than I am when I'm at a comfortable weight just because of how broad my shoulders/hips are, I can carry the weight without it 'weighing' me down looks wise. Hanayo probably has a thinner frame but packs on weight in different ways than curvy Nozoom.

nozomi never makes her weight a point in the show. hanayo has an episode and a story in the game dedicated to her desire to lose weight.

other than that Hanayo actually has more of an hourglass shape, Nozomi is topheavy, but with smaller hips, shes not nearly as curvy as hanayo.

It's obvious the artist wasn't trying to draw them as the original artist intended, though. Just like most cutesy animes, Love Live has same-facing with different eye colors/hair/tit sizes. Nothing wrong with it-I think it's adorable-but this artist wanted to draw everyone unique and it's not my cup of tea but I can appreciate it. Anime artists could design characters more variably than color coded girls with slightly different eye shapes, especially if they're going to be throwing them in the same school uniform.

I think the girls in the show calling Honoka and Hanayo too thick when they look the same waist size as everyone else is worse than drawing Nozomi fat in a non-mocking way desu.

I'm working some right now and if you're looking for a cheap base I found some on ebay, they were really easy to take the innards out, and I'm using battery EL wire with the driver placed in the headphones. Same-face is preferable to this garbage. The characters don't even have the same basic traits as their original designs, Nico shouldn't be tanned when her charm point is her pale skin and there is no reason why Umi or Rin should be drawn with squinty pointed eyes when their eye shapes are anything but that. It's lazy "variety" that hardly reflects anything from the original source material.

Physical differences among idols in a group are generally more subtle, you could make them not same-face/same-body without resorting to ugly man-face/man-bodies.

This. Let's be honest most Japanese high school girls aren't going to look vastly different from each other. I had a hard time following Wake Up Girls! because too many girls looked too similar on top of the fact the characters weren't super memorable.

Also it depends on the art but the Love Live girls have different eye shapes I think it's mostly in the anime art. In the game there's soem variations because there's multiple artists.

Yep! I was going to remove the ear cups (?) use masking tape to get even lines and just paint it with some acrylics.

Fair warning that I forgot to mention. The drivers from the EL wire will not fit in the ear cups so if you plan on putting it in there you'll have to get smaller ones. (I got lucky and had a local place that carried some, but I still had to do some soldering)

There's a general consensus that Kotori/Nico gets the most decorated/cutesy cards and that Solge trio (Eli/Umi/Maki) get more sexy/fan-service cards. Umi may get more boring cards because she isn't a very flashy girl, but in general many fans complain that Rin gets the most plain cards (especially event cards).

I'd say go for one of the two Hanayo ones. Honoka's looks so simple you might give the impression that you just pulled a random dress out of your wardrobe and called it a day (especially since it's not a popular card). I really adore the Marine set, but the first one looks complicated enough to be a challenge (the apron, mainly) but simple enough to still be called an easy costume.

I feel like if klab wants to add in Aqours to keep the game alive.. they need to do a whole lot more then that.

No matter how much I love Muse, and my best girl, I burn out of events since it's nothing more then repeating the same beat maps and watching my stamina all the time. It's not that it isn't fun, it's just that they really need to add more.

I don't like Cinderella Girls nearly as much as I love Muse, but goddamn you can't deny that Starlight Stage looks amazing. Half the reason I play it is just to see those nice 3D models dancing around.

The half foreigner is kinda tall and that's about it. I'm going to get a few of them mixed up in the beginning. With the first season I got Umi and Nozomi confused now and then but their personalities are so different it didn't last long.

I also feel with the muse girls their hair colors looked nice together. They are all sort of on a spectrum. The Aquors have that too but it's much more muted.

I finally got started on the cyber outfit today. Just need to finish laying down the other half of the triangles and then spend hours fiddling with them until the spacing looks right.
I'm going to make this available on spoonflower once it's done, though since I decided on a gathered circle skirt design I'll probably have to upload several versions for different sizes.

There's a guy in my area who crossplays Kotori. He's not perfect and you can kinda tell he's a guy, but he's trying and he's not creepy about it. No one really gives him shit for it.
If you can, get a female friend to help you.

I also think genderbends are pretty neat, but for some reason people bitch about those a lot in idol series'.
