OTT Sweet lolita is the "fuwa fuwa" sound effect to me. It's so lovely and sweet and though not typically elegant, there's something really magical when you see all these beautiful light colors moving together.

Well really, modern sweet/classic is much more elegant with all its chiffon and jewel-toned accents.

Something about just walking down the road during the meet when you're talking to someone in OTT sweet at your side but you can also see the bouncing curls and petticoats of the girls in front of you. Everything is pastels and cuteness as bows, stars and cutesy animals dance about as you all walk together.

Everything I just wrote might sound stupid to others, but in moments like that, it's like I'm in a musical or something.

I love this description. I got onboard with Lolita too young and too poor to wear OTT when it was popular, but that description is exactly what fascinated me. It wasn't my first love in the fashion, but it was whimsical and beautiful.

I don't think I'd ever wear OTT sweet, but I like looking at it. It ruled the fashion when I first started, and there's something very decadent and shameless about it. I really like that "fuck you, I'm going to wear a lollipop on my pastel-coiffed head and there's nothing you can do about it" attitude.

I live in the midwest USA, but I've had dreams of being a romanticized harajuku girl ever since Gwen Stefani put out that album, I was like 8 or so. I think sweet lolita is my favorite harajuku girl style, the swaying pettis and huge curls all in pink are so fun. I wish I could have huge sparkly acrylic nails, a pink jeweled flip phone, huge fake eyelashes, endearingly crooked bottom teeth...
I feel like since joining the community and wearing the fashion, I've strayed after becoming insterested in other dresses and styles. But in the end, it's never as cohesive or sugar fantasy-like as OTT sweet.

I started to dislike Sweet OTT because I got the feeling that this style turned into a competition of "who has the most stuff in their outfit", BUT after Classic OTT became a thing with all their huge scepters, floor-length capes, long dresses and big hats, I started to like Sweet OTT again, because it looks so much more Lolita-like for me.

Sweet OTT still has this cute, doll-like appearance for me while Classic OTT just looks like a historic fashion costume.... anyone feels the same??

ugh, actually that looks like a hime wig, not twintails. Damn my tiny display. Still, same concept: tease the fibers underneath and itll poof out the top layer. That way it's not absurdly huge up top, but still really big around the shoulders.

I miss decololis. They were my favorite clusterfuck.

I still am kind of in awe because I remember back when Sugary Carnival was $800 and Milky Planet $500, now I can get them both for like $300 or less without much effort. It's been that way for years now, but I still haven't adjusted.

Eh I like both. In terms of liking pure sweet in black colourways as well as dresses styled in a bittersweet/pastelgoth/creepycute way, but the motifs, details and overall feel has to be in line wit the more gothic side of things. I don't think any old sweet print in black constitutes tumblrgoth, but I'm into that as well as still hope it can be a 'thing'.

As far as OTT goes I am fascinated by it and love that 'fuck you I'll wear candy on my head' attitude as you mentioned, but having gotten into lolita in the early 2000's, when I hear 'sweet lolita' I still picture solid pink or shiro and more lace/ruffles (in the place of (print-centrism) that are closer associated with sweet-classic's chiffon addicted look now (or gingham if any print) or even dresses that would have been interchangeable with the definition of old school gothic (as in black and white covered in ladder lace shit, rather than the ega looking stuff)

Having lived under a rock most of my lolita life, when I went to my first meet in 2011 I was just really confused to see everyone wearing a) prints everywhere b) bright pink wigs and star clips.The majority of the girls were in this OTT sweet style and I'm still trying to wrap my head around how much things have changed, but I appreciated it as seeing people as candy-coated works of living sculpture. It keeps the whimsical side of lolita alive ass some of the the new spins on gothic/classic now look very serious, plain and more normie-looking.
