I had bangs for a while and tried to do this, there were also two other mixed girls in my school, but their hair was chemically relaxed, so it might be a bit different.

Long story short, it doesn't really work. It doesn't lay nicely, humidity makes it look even worse. One of the other girls constantly carried a small hair straightener with her to fix her bangs, it was ridiculous. I gave up and just pinned them back until they'd grown out.

I have a friend with a glorious 'fro who simulates the look a fringe/ bangs in lolita by doing these ringlet things by twisting her hair and having them over her forhead. I don't know what they are but they look like really small/ tight ringlets and she makes many of them to cover her forhead. Then double buns with a rectangle headdress, or just leave it and wear a headbow to seperate them from the rest of the hair. Looks more natural than clip in bangs but still looks cute. Pic unrelated. I wish I knew what they were called.

I just want to say brushing your hair out, oiling and braiding it the night before a meet really helps adjust/set a new curl pattern (top left curls vs top right waves) If my hair is getting a bit crazy and fuzzy, even just braiding it for a few minute then letting it out again helps. Blunt bangs are just not going to happen and I already destroyed the front of my hair straightening it, so I have a long sweeping fringe that stays in roughly the right place *most* of the time, but can still look pretty dumb, but I don't know if much more can be done about that. If the front of your hair is longish you can pull one end behind your ear with allowance for a bit of shrinkage/puffing up. The tails of headbows and stuff on headbands can also help keep hair pusshed back or flat against your head like in the bonnet pic. No it doesn't look as good as perfectly straight, thick clip in bangs but it's something
