The time of year we can wear almost as many layers as we want. Post your favorite winter co-ords.

I don't know if I should ask this here, but does anyone know how to keep warm in lolita without a coat?
I want to participate in my comm's ILD meet but it's a mostly outdoor event and I own 0 lolita coats as I'm just starting out.

I've heard of people layering thermal tops under blouses. I think Fanny Rosie really recommends the Uniqlo HeatTech line.
http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/feature/uq/heattech/women/

I've also heard good things about fleece lined leggings.

Anybody know a place where I can buy white thermal tight? I really cannot have bare legs in the winter where I live and regular tights are also too cold. I've been looking but I can only find leggings.

I need a not so expensive loliable coat in black but i can't find anything loliable because i need to wear daily nothing that is light fleece or too elaborate. Anyone has good quality (good woolen like fabric not fleece) loliable coat links?Preferably ebay or aliexpress. The cheap loliable coats are from Dreamv but they are so low quality i had to sell the one i bought. Bodyline... not sure. I saw a cute coat from BL but the fabric seems a bit thin and fleece like or it's good quality instead? Where i live winters are mild but i freeze easily. Pic related.

I have this coat and it's actually pretty good quality. It hasn't been cold enough here to wear it out properly but it was warm when I tried it on and it's fully lined, I'm not near it at the moment but I can update in a few days on if it's fleece.

Thats one thing I like about the Bodyline coats. They are fully lined and super warm. I sold mine recently for $70. I got it because I thought, "Wow! I love this and I can wear it with stuff!" Fast forward 5 years later and I still haven't worn it because California weather and feel too old to wear super flared long coats at this point.
>>
>>8713902
what colour is this anon?
>>
>>8713941
Beige (Beg)
I wish the blue or wine colours were in stock but the beige is very pretty as well. The buttons are really nice, pearly-white roses and the lace is roses as well.
>>
>>8713902
Oh that is very cute anon, thank you!I will wait further details of the coat before to buy, i don't want again to buy a coat that is too light.
>>8713941
It seems the Beige colourway.
>>
>>8713750
I love fur caplets like this, but do they even keep your uper arms/shoulders warm?It doesnt get too cold here, only freezing tempuratures for a few short weeks(living in the middle of a large desert) so i dont really need a full coat i dont think...but i dont want to waste my money on a caplet for it to not do anything for me at all.
>>
>>8713889
If you tuck the leggings into a pair of boots, no one will know/care
>>
>>8713895
Nice to know dreamv's coats aren't good quality, I was considering getting one
Does anyone know if brand coats are worth the money?
also fml i live in the southern part of the east coast and winter here is just heavy cold rain and rain boots and raincoats aren't rori (parasols don't stop your shoes from getting ruined)
>>
>>8714166
Depends on which brand, but the majority of ones I've seen are pretty good. Mary Magdalene and Victorian Maiden have gorgeous ones, and the Baby and AP ones that are made of wool look pretty nice. Just make sure it's wool/wool mix, sometimes they're made of some gross fleece-material which is completely unsuitable for outerwear.
>>
>>8713968
Seconded, do capes even work? I've seen some really cute ones that are knit but I have no idea if they're worth buying or not.
>>
Most indoor places are substantially heated so wearing layers that you can't easily take off will cause you to roast indoors. Lace-up boots with tread, waterproofed and a pretty Lolita coat just make things so much simpler. I never understand why Lolitas who live in a colder climate even hesitate to get a good Lolita coat and some boots unless they don't plan to wear Lolita in cold weather.
>>
>>8714217
Kind of related, I knit and I've made a few shawls. As long as the materials are warm and the garment is snug against your body, it will keep the parts it is covering warm.

You might consider the longer capes/poncho style, those will definitely do the job.
>>
>>8713832
Recommending Uniqulo HeatTech as well. I traveled last winter and it got to -17°C, I only had a thinner coat and dresses with me, wore two layers of heattech under my clothes and double thermal tights, it was cozy as hell.
>>
>>8714248
Can you get the thermal tights/stockings in uniqlo? Going to japan next year and I'd rather wear my dresses when I'm there.
>>
Does anyone have any good boot recommendations that are not from bodyline and can go higher than a US 8? Faux fur and ivory would be a huge plus and under $200 would be lovely.
>>
>>8714253
What country you live in, anon? Uniqlo has stores abroad too. Also, the sizing outside Japan is larger than within Japan.
>>
>>8714000
Yeah I have a pair of leggings already I just hate to limit my shoe choice to only boots in the winter.
>>
>Made a beautiful fawn fur cape.

>>
>>8714166
Usually the clothing is pretty low quality, some says DreamV shoes (maybe bags) are better quality!I want to get something from Mon Lily, it seems decent from what i seen unlike the other dreamv brands.
>>
>>8714392
Aus. In the middle of spring atm, so don't know if they'll be in stock. I mean, don't mind buying them there. I liked that they had little pop up stores in the train stations

I know this is the wrong thread for this, but could you please tell me where you got the fawn fur? I am looking to make a few accessories for the winter myself.

Also why would you feel silly for that? Go out and rock that cape!
>>

This.
>>
>>8714346
Fluevogs maybe?
>>
>>8714559
Fluevog boots will probably run you more than 200 unless you get something on sale. Most of their boots are around 300-600 I believe.

If it isn't much trouble, could you post a pic of your capelet? I'm planning to buy one soon and am looking for some inspiration.
>>
Stupid question however it's winter clothing related. Since where I live can be in the deep winter it can get sub-arctic. I'm thinking of going fo pic related coat (even the colorway) however I'm afraid of it becoming a dirt magnet (or wet snow magnet) how would you wash wool/lolita coats to maintain it's color and cleaniness
>>
>>8714909
dropped pic sorry
>>
>>8714909
I mostly spot clean my coats however I do wash them when needed. It really depends on what kind of coat you have but this guide is generally pretty useful for a lot of different materials http://laundry.about.com/od/carebytypeoffabric/ss/How-to-Clean-9-Winter-Coat-Fabrics.htm
Colour in lighter fabrics ususally isn't as much of a problem as fabrics with rich colours like red or prints (which coats usually don't have) but definitely is why you should spot wash the clothes before you attempt to handwash them (or any other method).
>>
>just got this coat from taobao recently
>fur collar, shawl and poms are all removable

feels good, man
>>
there is no winter in lolita
only tears
very frozen tears
>>
>>8714954
Make sure those tears match the theme of your coord though, I recommend adding clear crystal accessories to bring everything together.
>>
>>8714948
link?
>>
>>8713845
I always wear thermals under my blouses in winter, sadly they don't do much in the way of stopping wind chill.
>>
> tfw in the southern hemisphere
>>
>>8714948
it looks kinda short does it cover most dresses?
>>
>>8714909
Dry clean, wool shrinks every time it's washed as the fibers will knot up tighter.
>>
>>8715007
what...
One of the reasons people like wool is that it wicks water away well and is breathable (like with socks). Do you think everybody just always dry cleaned their wool blankets, clothes?
Of course it can be washed, just COOL handwash it and air dry. If it's knitwear drape it over a rack when drying.
>>
>>8715016
Yes agreed with this anon.
Also if you don't want it to felt try not to rub it too much while hand washing it.
>>
>>8715007
Confirmed for someone who has no idea what gentle hand washing in lukewarm water is. Shit, they even sell detergents and soaps specifically for wool...
>>
Gulls, does your coat need to match your cord? I have a lovely AatP coat in beige. It was a gift from my husband. However, my wardrobe consists mainly of pink. Should I invest in a pink or white coat, too?
>>
>>8714740
Pinks don't match, awful
>>8714742
Those normie boots actually look amazing with that, they are just the right shade. I never would have though it would work
>>
>>8715007
The temperature of the water is what determines whether it shrinks or not. Cold water will not shrink wool at all but you have to soak the spot longer
>>
>>8715320
Are you talking about a meet, a photoshoot? Or just a daily outfit? If your beige coat looks fine with whatever little of your outfit is visible, why not?
>>
>>8714447
That's new to me, how bad is it? I'd been planning a DreamV haul...
>>
>>8714909
for temperatures that low (especially combined with rain/snow) i just say "fuck it" and put up with normie fashion
>>
>>8715865
For a meet, mostly. Thanks for the advice.
>>
>>8714166
I have an IW coat that I received in a lucky pack and it is very thick, warm and durable.
>>
>>8715896
The polyester fabric of cutsews, hoodies isn't cotton but polyester. The cutsew i had got piling very fast, fabric was not really for hot weather. The coat was thin, fabric fleece like a hoodie rather a coat in my opinion, fake fur soft but not really good quality. Well, i haven't bought any chiffon item like blouses or dresses, these look a tad better.
>>
>>8714455
Sure! Sorry for the late reply.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/240762558/fawndoe-animal-print-faux-fur-craft-size

I think I ended up ordering 4 lengths and it was plenty for a fairly long capelet. The fur is excellent quality considering it was fake. It has the right weight to look like real fur and the touch (despite being lovely) is the only thing that makes it obvious fake.
>>8714752
I'm afraid it's a very boring cape, as far as capes go.
