Nostalgia time. Remember "the" Hot Topic dress that came out in 2005 or so? And the dramatic posts saying that lolita was "now dead" because girls would go into Hot Topic, buy the dress and declare themselves lolita? Good times.

What are some other 'remember whens'?
>>
Is is too soon to remember the collective rage when that CTP was cut apart?
>>
>>8704516
There's still collective rage about that because she still won't shut up about it.
>>
Oh man. Was that dress really 2005? I thought it was a bit later than that.

Remember when Momo's Handicrafts was the Milanoo of the lolita world? Remember when they changed shop fronts about a dozen times due to negative feedback?
>>
>>8704520
Yep, 2005! They made a different one some time later but by that point there were way more places to get something vaguely lolita looking than Hot Topic.

In retrospect, why did people think this H&M dress was in any way lolita? Poofy party dress does not lolita make.
>>
>>8704513
I... I still like that dress.
>>
>>8704526
Western lolita fashion was young and people were desperate for "loliable" stuff.
>>
I miss when Meta's lucky packs weren't almost "starter sets" ("You get 1 skirt, 1 blouse, 1 accessory!" with the skirts usually being 100% shirred and made from leftover fabric) and were actually just "hey you'll get random stuff worth x amount of money." Nowadays everyone gets mostly the same stuff, but years back you might find someone who got 2 jsks, or 2 skirts and a hairbow, just sort of random things and not necessarily "welp we've got a bunch of bolts leftover from this release, time for that same ol' skirt."
>>
>>8704513
To be fair, that dress wasn't bad at all, it's still passable as oldschool with today's standards. It could pass as old Btssb or Maxicimam.

>>8704526
I remember this. Everyone wanted it, because it was piss cheep, and it had the right silhouette for lolita (no excuse for the fugly lace though). The black version was acceptable though, it resembled some Moitie to some extent.
>>
>>8704546
I feel like their packs haven't changed all that much though. You still had starter packs/special set packs from them back then, too. They were just at different times of year from the leftover packs.

And people BITCHED about the leftover packs because so many of them were two pairs of bloomers, a shitty print no one wanted, and an ugly blouse with raschel lace.
>>
>>8704546
I miss when they had simpler and nonprint stuff for lucky packs. They had polkadot and weird fabrics that they would make dresses and bloomers out of.

However I do have to say that I like the fully-shirred skirts. They are comfortable and great for casual wear.
>>
>>8704546
They still offer clearance ones. They just did one of those.
>>
>>8704520
Isn't that Momo and Jia shop? And isn't that the same Jia as Oo Jia?
>>
>>8704564
I think Momo & Jia was a different shop, which started on Taobao. No idea if they're connected to Oo Jia.

If memory serves, Momo's eventually stopped using Momo anywhere in it because people kept reporting them. So they may or may not still exist.
>>
Getting that first overpriced Bodyline lolita dress on the Cosmates website...

>>8704570
Checked egl and found this:

>Hi,
>As an official dealer of Momo & Jia Baby Shop, we would like to clarify that Momo's from ebay and Momo & Jia from TaoBao are 2 different shops.

>Momo & Jia Baby Shop at TaoBao is only selling to China local market. And all of theirs photos in their shop are taken by themsleves as well. All of the dresses in their shop are handmake by the owner one by one.

>From what we know, the Momo from ebay will use the other brand's photos in their shop, however the Momo & Jia Baby Shop will only use theirs own product photos for showing.

>So please understand the difference in between them, as they are totally 2 different shops.

>Regards,
>QutieLand - Billy

But so much new school lolita looks just as normalfag as that and it flies. And hell, J et J looks like Ted Baker. I'm so alienated by half the shit I see in CofF in tes of cuts, trims, sillhoette and the aesthetic has shifted from Victorian Doll or cute but punky to vaguely vintage fancy lady

I miss white lace on everything and mostly cotton, solid dresses. I even miss the meido anime lolita look. I miss cutting pages out of Shojou Beat in 2004
>>
I miss page long discussion posts with thoughtful, composed replies.
>>
>>8704578
You know what I do not miss? Those terrifying pantaloon things that were published in Shojou Beat as "lolita". I remember seeing those bloomers and just dying of laughter. I wish I could find a scan of it.
>>
>>8704552
well, they used to sell special sets as special sets, and lucky packs as lucky packs. Now lucky packs have become special sets.
>>
>>8704584
They still sell both. They just label them all lucky packs because western lolita called both lucky packs. You just have to look at the sample photos. it's really easy to tell them apart.

>>
>>8704516
Oh for crying out loud. It was a fucking make to order. The dress would be common as shit if anyone actually liked it back in the day. No one did.

>>

I think you're missing the point. Part of the reason is because she cut up the dress not a seamstress or someone professionally inclined to do so. The other part is that she brags about being able to wear CTP and she never shuts up about it.

I remember I had a txt file with a list of alllll the skirts, blouses, and dresses I was going to order from them. In my mind I totally needed this skirt in blackxwhite, whitexblack, bluexwhite, etc etc. Didn't end up buying as much as I had planned but I had a good 30 pieces from them in the end.

I'm still mad at myself for selling off all my ITS stuff, minus one dress, a few years back. At the time I decided I'd rather keep my nicer brand stuff but now I miss having all those sturdy staples.

Someone just posted what they got from the Meta LP. It's either in one of the generals or the mail thread, if you poke around it's probably still here (sorry for not remembering which specific thread it was in though).

I get your confusion, though, the first time I saw mention of a Meta petticoat LP was on here and I didn't know they were doing one -- I'm subscribed to their blog via feedly and their facebook, you'd think they would post about it there. But they did hype up the two lucky packs in one of their customer emails once the sale went live. Wish I could find the selling page for you, but unfortunately I deleted the email and can't find the other pages again.
>>
Anyone remember that site where you could choose your silhouette, fabric, lace, and a bunch of other shit? I think it was called Sweet Rococo or something.
>>
>>8704836
I still have a headbow from them that I held on to all these years...
>>
>>8704892
I think you might be talking about the Lucky Pack they did recently just for overseas customers, which had a petticoat, several skirts, tops, etc etc. That was a $300~ or so special deluxe LP, not a regularly priced one.
>>
>>8704893
Oh man, that hit me hard right now. Even though it was expensive as hell, it was fun putting together a dress then redoing it again and again. I couldn't afford lolita back then so doing the designs made me feel like I was a lolita. I regret never buying something from them in the end. Pretty sad that they closed down.

Anon of that comment thread was saying they miss when Meta used to do truly blind lucky packs that consisted of regular items instead of special sets that were made for the lucky pack itself.

That is what this lucky pack is, isn't it? It was random regular items that didn't sell. Whether it was a deluxe set or not was not mentioned in anon's oriinal comment.

I am a relatively new lolita and I dress Victorian doll-white lace-cotton-meido animu style. I guess this makes me ita as hell...

I can't help it though, I fell in love with lolita around 2006 when doll look at its peak and I didn't have courage/money to dress up until now.
>>
I really miss the lifestyle aspect, I remember in the old livejournal lolita handbook, there was a list with something like, 100 romantic lifestyle ideas or something. I took that list to fucking heart man, I went on little walks by myself in lolita with my new parasol I bought directly from Baby after a hell of a process and a shitload of cash, I spun around my room wearing my first Baby dress and listening to Malice Mizer, I bought all the English G&LB's and looked through them time after time, I went on EGL like 10 times a day, I used to spend hours curling my hair into perfect sausage-curls and top it off with a black and white headdress I made from a G&LB pattern. I had lots of Meta underknee-socks with a shitton of ruffled raschel lace, remember those? Oh man this thread ignited my nostalgia... I miss the times when AP's first prints were controversial and people didn't consider them lolita. I miss the times when we were all like excited kids about the fashion, sharing every little tip about how to find or make something lolita, since we had such few ways to obtain it, we were a lot more crafty. There were tutorials for everything, simple skirts, headdresses, bows, sewing lace to bought kneesocks, making wristcuffs from lace, etc. I wish the community was more focused on lifestyle now, that dreamy air of lolita is gone to me now, it doesn't take any effort to be lolita anymore, and you can notice the effect that has.

I can't remember the username right, kankerjin or something like that. When she was selling petticoats that everyone was wanting to buy. >>
>>8705104
I agree. Every single old school lolita thread fills me with joy to know more people feel the same. I guess it's funny how at the time experimenting a lot was a bit forbidden and could get you posted on getoffegl, but at the same time, you look into street snaps and everything felt so... free? Lolita had more of a romantic point at the time. I am really content with more brands shipping internationally and the fashion growing but now it's becoming formulaic as well. Lolita was never cheap but to me it feels like to get e-fame you just need to be rich + have some decent coordination more than anything. Livestyle also helped lolita be more like a subculture IMHO instead of just a fashion. Since old school focuses so much on lost eras it's only fitting we old schoolers feel this way, so mellow lol... it's definitely romantic if you think about it.
>>
>>8705152
It's always been fairly formulaic ever since AP started doing super matchy-matchy sets. I honestly think it's starting to move away from the overly-matchy stuff, which is great, but maybe I'm only seeing what I want to see.
>>
>>8705147
Yeah, she posted a bunch of stuff about how Africa needs to be nuked off the planet in another comm etc. Said that black girls couldn't be proper lolitas and all kinds of other stuff. Kirakirajenjen. What ended up ticking people off was that she advertised her sales as "Group order for petticoats, $40 each plus shipping!" without mentioning that the actual price she paid for the petticoats was $8 each. It was normal to add on a little fee for doing a group order, plus shipping of course, but $32 fee or each petticoat? Especially since there's far different expectations for quality in a $8 petticoat versus a $40 one. For a $40 petticoat, I would expect something similar to In the Starlight or the cheaper Malco Modes. What people were getting were, well, $8 Chinatown petticoats which were at a mark-up already in Chinatown. I recall her shipping her petticoats in bizarre ways too, such as shoving them into those thin soda boxes.

My one complaint about it is that the nylon material for the "waist" portion doesn't wash well, so it's gotten stained from wear over the last however many years I've had it now (almost seven I guess?) and that's gross. Otherwise, it's a nice petticoat for layering, because that netting is stiff as anything.

I still do my makeup to Malice Mizer almost daily. And I def twirl in front of a mirror just for the sake of doing so. Lolita is dressing for the adventure you want to have, anon. I remain as dreamy about the fashion as I always have. As long as you're taking care of your responsibilities, who gives a shit. Most of the world would do to daydream a bit more.
>>
>>8705802
that was way too long ago that probably more than half of the people here weren't even around for that.
>>
>>8705802
I've been here since ~2008, and even seeing the Homestuck threads slow down in favour of the SU ones is making me kind of nostalgic. I remember when they'd be autosaging at least one thread a day, and everyone would get pissed when someone made a new thread before the last one was off the front page.

>tfw I honestly miss the batshit HS drama

>I still do my makeup to Malice Mizer almost daily. And I def twirl in front of a mirror just for the sake of doing so
I am so glad I'm not the only one. I twirl like Mana does in the gif you posted because being in lolita makes me feel so cool (and because I want to be like Mana-sama)
>>
>>8706197
>I twirl like Mana does in the gif
I don't wear oldschool, but goddamn if I don't feel the magic of wearing lolita for the first time every time I'm fully dressed. Twirling, swishing my petti, making cute poses in the mirror for no one but myself; it's like I'm sixteen again.

Unfortunately I don't have that issue. I'm not surprised at all that happened though - I'd love to see a scan of it if anyone else has it. (I believe it'd be from the March 2007 issue of Shojo Beat, because the DIY sweet lolita was from the February one)

One trend I remember well was the 2008 ~ late 2009/2010 polymer clay "kawaii" food and figures. Everyone and their moms were into it, while some looked horrible, some actually got really good and made beautiful charms and realistic looking too.

I was there yesterday as it happens and they seem to have taken the store in a more goth general direction but they still had a fair amount of lolita stuff upstairs - there is a big mark up though so be warned. They had a few taobao brands too and whilst the jsks were about £80-£90, when you rake into account shipping and shopping service fees etc, if you happen to be in the area it's not too bad for the convenience.

The GLP blouses though, my god steer clear of those they are horrific, I think their putumayo style jks are probably the best of the bunch and a few have a certain oldschool charm.

I remember when i wanted to buy from Candy Violet but i was a teen and not disposable money to get stuff, also at that time not into girly stuff just a tomboy normie/mallgoth teen.
I would like to get these items but second hand are impossible, like the Candy Violet cutsews.
>>8705104
I'm here with you anon. My lace topped socks are from Bodyline, i don't feel to buy second hand socks lol, they are so cute. I can't wait to wear them with an old school outfit. I would like if the fashion would be again a bit more into the lifestyle part, we are few in this world of burando hoarding and efame.
>>
>>8704829
I always thought their stuff was quite ugly, even by oldschool standards. Was it just the novelty of having access to a shop that made stuff that looked more like Lolita than the hot topic bullshit?

We used to have the threads on here pretty regularly as a continuation of that comm, but I feel like we haven't had one in a long time. The last couple bumped off the board pretty quick because it's usually mostly reposts of the same things (the cone of shame bonnets, various penis-shaped items, etc). I liked the comm format because it only got a new post when there was actually something else to laugh at, but I guess the slowness was its downside as well.

It resembled lolita dresses put out by certain brands but was in no way typical of the fashion that's for sure. I think people just loved it as a beautiful dress in its own right too - for the price it was pretty damn amazing, I bought one (sadly in pink) myself just because I thought it was so pretty.
>>
>>8707720
Yeah. A part of me feels bad for her because she probably had an eating disorder but then I remember she uploaded pictures of people in her comm (including a minor) to a doll fetish forum, saying that they were all 'dollies looking for masters' as part of her 'jump into every fetish and post wishlists to try and get money' scheme and I don't feel bad anymore.

She still does, anon. She's moved on from lolita to Geek Girl cosplay (after figuring out that she was shit as a financial "dominatrix"). I can't remember the name of the site she started, but she was posted here quite a bit in the last year with her shitty sexy cosplays.

There were also photos of her sans shoop from conventions, and even though she's only just turned 30, she's starting to look fucking haggard as hell.

I have a solid scarlet red dress with no details at all. I really miss lolita_fucks (which became lolita_fucksmkII), wtfburando and lolita_wank. I miss Tropigalia and the MissMeganMaude being an adult baby wank. Do you guys remember how hard it used to be to order from brands? They wouldn't ship overseas so you needed shopping services even for Bodyline. There were sooooo many indie (handmade indie, not taobao) brands, designers, and commissioners back then because brand stuff was just so much harder to get.

Unseelie is now a photographer/model for a softcore cosplay porn site called Geek Goddess. She married this terrifying neckbeard (who she used to refer to as her "puppy"). She fortunately stopped doing teribble art and her photography has improved a lot, and SOMEHOW she makes like $2500 a month off of patreon but still always complains about how broke she is.

And yeah...she looks super haggard without photoshop. Years of literally never taking her makeup off have done a number on her skin.

that's actually a damn cute skirt. I can't say I miss the wank communities although unlike back then, these days I give less fucks about what people think or where my photos might end up if I ever take them.
>>
>>8710362
I hope it's not dying! I always really enjoyed them.
Last year they seemed to have quite a bunch of wardrobe posts though but compared to how large the western community is, there were very little posts.
Maybe people don't want to take the time to photograph all of their pieces? Or just simply don't have the time?
Or even feel ashamed because they have a small collection compared to others?

I think we'll still have wardrobe posts in 2016, just not that many.

That's good to know. I recently got back into the fashion and remembered when bloomers were an absolute must back then. It doesn't feel that way now. I fucking hate Facebook and how it organizes posts in a group, so the fact that EGL and LJ died out is seriously depressing for me.

I was hoping the lolita subreddit would rise up because it's the closest thing to the layout, while also being streamlined, no clunk, and still having a like/dislike feature. Reddit also allows for multiple subreddits so r/dailylolita and r/wtfburando could totally be things.
>>
>>8714287
It's been more actively lately, just full of annoying beginners and a surprising amount of brolitas.
>>
>>8714287
I believe you can get a css theme made for the subreddit that will 'disable' likes and dislikes unless you click a specific button so you don't use the CSS theme (I think that's only with reddit enhancement suite)
>>
>>8714308
>>8714310

Since egl is clearly dead, and Facebook groups can be hard to find, I think the lolita subreddit is the next "easily findable" thing for beginners. Hence the annoying newbies.

I like the fact that it has the up/down vote. Gets rids of trolls by the community rather than waiting on mods.

And something on topic, I remember sweet rococo, I was saving up money for a year right before they closed down back in my high school days. Ordered overpriced bodyline from cosmates after that devastating news.

And ifwinterends, man that was always guaranteed drama in the EGL comments.

I was actually thinking of selling mine as I need some funds. I feel ok parting with it since I've worn it a few times and got to enjoy wearing it.
>>
>>8714651
this was about as sexified as it got though, it's not like they ever sold dildos etc, just underwear and skimpy 'bedroom fun' costumes.

i dunno if it was just me but i used to scout ebay for brand thinking i might get lucky (lolno) i always got that weird jazz cd when searching for BTSSB.
just looked now, still over 10 different sellers selling it??
>>
not quite a remember when, but does anyone find it kind of weird when you see an old print that used to go for a crazy amount go for barley retail or something? Its still strange to see sugary carnival go for under 200

I think you need to check your reading comprehension. Anon literally said:

Oh it's VERY weird. Once upon a time I used to pine over Magical Etoile and Fruits Parlor, and seeing them going for absurdly cheap is surreal. More than once I've actually felt tempted to get them, though obviously I never will because I've long since moved on from sweet and would never actually wear them. It's an oddly bittersweet kind of feeling, knowing that my younger self would've lost her shit about my once-dream dresses being entirely within my reach.
>>
>>8719396
I saw pink polkadot A la Mode goes for like 12,000 yen and it was so bizarre. I was so tempted to get it. I nearly bought the blue gingham OP off eBay for $50 but was outbid...I'm not even sure WHY I bid. It's totally not my style I'd never wear it but oh 17 year old me wanted it so bad!
>>
>>8719393
The brand is named for the album, I'm pretty sure.
>>
>>8719396

I got into lolita just as a friend was getting out of it. So I'd spent my early years with her going "omg wonder party is so popular it goes for a lot" and I was going "nope, not anymore lol". I actually did try to pick up dreaming macaron yellow OP just because she said "dreaming macaron was everybody's dream print!", and that's where I found out why a lot of the prices drop so much. It's only half about the print, the other half is that after 6 years most of the dresses you can find for sale have been worn many times, been through multiple owners, have been modified, have stains or marks on them or faded, and so on. After looking through 10-20 auctions I gave up finding a new-ish dress for a low price.

It gives some perspective when I see trending pieces go for double their retail price on auction. On the one hand, you know the prices will probably drop to retail or below in 5-10 years time. On the other hand, 5-10 years is a long time to wait for a dream print's prices to drop.
>>
>>8719461
>Fruits Parlor
Oh boy oh boy that was my shit back when I first started. My first dream dress was the heart apron version. I finally bought it wore it once then sold it, but I have never felt so strongly about a printed dress since.
>>

I know she had a Japanese blog, can't remember what it was, though.
>>
>>8719396
I've been tempted to jump on some of those cheap black Sugary Carnival JSKs, but stopped because I know I'd never wear it. Which is a same because the me from a few years ago would have lost her shit being able to get it.

You hold your skirt in the wind just like any other skirt and you learn to bend your knees to gracefully lower, pick something up, stand up. Not bend over at the waist like a field worker picking turnips.

I love bloomers with Lolita. I wear them often. But they are not mandatory to protect your modesty in a skirt if you know how to move gracefully and correctly in your clothes so stop trying to perpetuate that myth.
>>
>>8714725
I don't like her as much as the next lolita, but I wouldn't put all of the blame on her because people still do that shit on the fb comms.

I remember someone pointing out that LJ didn't keep up with the world going mobile, so by the time they've developed an app, people have moved onto fb and tumblr.

I think it doesn't help that a number of prominent members have left lolita and that many images are deleted/broken, so it's hard to see older posts, and some of these people used to run places like Hellolace and the comm sales which we know is out of date and being used less and less.

>Candy Violet, ITS, Momo's, Sweet Rococo

Bless this thread.

I was just leafing through my friend's English GLBs and had all of the feels.

I miss the original comics people used to post on egl. Does anyone have one saved about the girls representing a gothic, sweet, and classic lolita and how they responded with a mouse in their presence?

She left all her brand in Japan with some rando guy she was hooking up with and went back to the U.S. where she's from (despite the fact of her constantly bragging she's half-French so rococo desu). Probably because she was in a shady visa situation what with her working in a maid cafe and all. The guy sold all her Lolita to secondhand shops.

Huh, I wonder why she left it behind

I miss when drama was referred to as wank. It makes me imagine a Lolita masturbating while reading particularly delicious drama.
>>
>>8720302
It is. It occasionally pops up on ebay. Try searching for 'H&M grey lace dress' but remember to check the 'include description' box. You may also find it listed under 'party dress', 'cocktail dress', '50s dress' etc.

I just had a quick look and managed to find one for sale under 'H&M full skirt dress grey', item number '281857933844'.

It's not all that shiny in person either, it just always looks that way in harsh lighting or when a flash is used.
>>
>>8719994
I behave like there is no class (eh i know) when i bend my knees to pick stuff and having bloomers or shorts inside make me feel safe. I hold the skirt of course but sometimes isn't enough if the wind is stronger.
>>8719815
Idk man, i bought mint condition items for less than 10000 yen (i found Toy Fantasy skirt in mint condition for 7000 yen), not every print or solid dress for cheap is faded and worn off, i'm glad my dream prints aren't popular enough (AATP Marionette in my closet and Royal Princess Alice Sweet Grave) in few years they can drop their price or lot, i hope. Sweet Grave seems a pretty rare print to find or i'm wrong?
>>
>>8720117
>>8720503
Wank as a term is more of an old fandoms thing which is why it was used so heavily in LJdom. I feel like back in the day if you were on egl on LJ, you already had an LJ, so you probably were already fandom-y in some way or another (before lolita spread in popularity to more normalfag levels). That probably explains why it doesn't really get used anymore.
>>
>>8720684

Ah, I didn't mean to imply they were all worn to the point of "worn out" or "always damaged". At that time I had two prints I was looking for, Memorial Cake and Dreaming Macaron, and the difference between the much older Dreaming Macaron, and the newer Memorial Cake was really obvious. It was still possible to find Memorial Cake that was brand new with tag, had never been worn, worn once, or a mix of these. But Dreaming Macaron, without fail, they all said that the dress had been worn many times, nervous buyers please do not bid.

I'm pretty sure most of the Dreaming Macaron dresses would still look good, maybe they even look mint or near-new. To most of us, dresses being 6 years old, worn often, and still looks good means it's still a bargain, but to many people, the difference between "worn many times" and "only worn once" is why the price for the former would be much lower than the latter when pricing an auction. The dress itself may not have any issues, but buyers would be less willing to shell out a lot of money when they're bidding on it over the internet. So the prices of dresses that have been worn a lot tend to be lower than those that are new with tags. And most items that are 6 years old tend to have been worn a lot. It's not always just the popularity of the print that makes the value of the dress go down.

6 years isn't that much but if a person has washed the item many times, unless it's dry clean the print would fade a bit, usually the prints start to fade if washed otherwise not but we can't wear dirty dresses, ew. I hope in future there are some tips how to recolor or make again brillant these prints or online services to fix faded/worn out items, with solid items you can dye them again but prints no.
Weird, usually from the pics you can see if they item is faded. One day i bought a Dreamy Dollhouse, it had a internal yellowing in one of the straps and a slight fading (not sure if was the print itself or just a fading), overall the condition was pretty good but i sold it because it didn't fit me.
>>
>>8726556

Actually, considering a lot of the older dresses were on cotton, it's more common for them to start pilling and get fuzzy, rather than for the print to fade. They're also prone to becoming, how do I say this, a bit "loose". Like the seams aren't as tight as before, the fabric seems a bit floppier (so bows might have trouble standing up, or skirts have trouble draping on a less poofy petticoat), that kind of thing. These things are harder to see in most photos.

Although I guess you can make the argument that if it's not visible in a photo then to some people it doesn't really matter if the dress doesn't have the crisp, new feeling.

Just an additional note btw, fading mostly happens in direct sunlight, for eg if you were displaying a dress in a spot where sunlight hits it often, but another thing girls often overlook is laundry -- if you hang your clothes outdoors, they're exposed to the sun and they will fade. The few hours of drying does add up over six years. So dry your clothes indoors/in shade instead, it helps to keep the colours from fading.

My room is pretty dark and my items are outside, usually they are just illuminated by artificial light is that dangerous as well?Yeah, it's hard to see about the fabric damage or the losening in pics of laying flat the items. I didnt know about the drying method, usually checking the care tags i can see the symbol "drying in a shaded place".
Thank you for the useful tips anon!

Alright anon I'll tell you about Frances.

Long ago, there was a tripfag by the name of Frances who was a Mary Kay saleswoman interested in cosplay. She would shitpost every day, typically making threads to discuss pantyhose for cosplay. The original Frances left at some point but anon(s) continued to shitpost as her until eventually fading out when the sjw takeover happened.

Even if your room is well-light with many artifical lightbulbs/tubes, you should be fine. You should also be fine if you tint your windows with one of those UV-cutting film.

Nothing's really as destructive as the real, direct sunlight. That's the killer for a lot of pigments, it'll even bleach colours out of plastic.

frances was the best troll in the history of egl. i remember a year or maybe 2 ago "she" popped up on rufflechat or some other comm and the best part was watching newbies respond to her seriously.

That's because tights became more of a thing - bloomers and socks were initially the standard, but once people started accepting tights into the fashion more then the "you need bloomers" thing vanished a bit

She gradually phased lolita out of her shop and focused on rockabilly/retro clothes. About 2 years ago she closed the shop 'temporarily' while she moved, but hasn't opened it since. She hasn't updated any of her social media (twitter, blog, etc etc) since April, but that was just to say "I'm not dead!" and not much else.

They are Demonia's somewhat infamous gothic and lolita shoes 'CHARADE-23' painted black. They were on the market for years but have finally sold out pretty much everywhere, they do appear on ebay from time to time however and I think there is still one seller on there selling them new with a few sizes left.

They were actually banished to the attic for many years before I finally decided to give them a makeover to get some more use out of them.

Nah. One of the things the real Frances said that stuck as an on-going joke with her imitators was that "being a lolita over 40 is possible!!"

At one point, someone found what they thought might be a real photo of her in her LJ gallery, but it was deleted before anyone thought to save of cap it. Some woman in leopard print with huge hair, in a 90s style glamour shots photo.
