Happened last year and the year before that, the cloakroom is always a fucking shambles. I remember last year in particular there was a massive queue and nothing moving because one of the volunteers had left the cloakroom and the other one said they couldn't leave the counter unattended, so nothing was being done.

I actually had to physically walk into the cloakroom at one point to point out the stuff I brought with me and take it because they couldn't find it themselves with the perfectly accurate description I gave.

Cards against Anime was fun but the MC didn't seem to know really basic anime shit. Do people who have no interest in anime staff cons? That seems weird

So many people walked into Player's Lounge last night, took one look at it and said "This is shit", one of my mates included, and I can't really blame them. Most of it looked like an awkward teenage disco with not enough places to sit. Turned into an absolute sweatbox at the end of the night too, which was awful.

Many of us were pissed off to because a lot of people who were staying in the same panel room for multiple panels were told that they had to get up and leave and queue again outside because of those stupid 18+ wristbands, even when the event that was just on previously was also 18+. There were even some volunteers telling a couple of girls during one switchover that her friends, who'd left all of their stuff in the room and had secured places before the panel started, had to give up their seats to other people because they were pushed to the back of the queue when they were told to leave. That was a standout moment of dumbfuckery for me.

But credit where credit's due; the cloakroom wasn't shit this year. No massive queues and they got my stuff back pretty much instantly.

Overall though, I think my favourite con of the year has been Nom-con, even factoring in the dodgy attendance due to the crush of so many cons in a short time. It was better organised, staff actually knew what was going on, and there was a friendlier atmosphere overall.

Their venue is being sold that's about the gist of it and they couldn't find a new one.

If they're talking a break for a year it's a good idea, I went to a con in the states which had to switch venues with very little notice as the little indie hotel which they'd used for years was bought out by a major hotel chain which wouldn't honour any of the event bookings. They found a venue last minute which was subpar compared to previous years and it pissed off two attendees so much they ruined the convention for a load of other people and those two attendees were permabanned.

Anyway, fast forward a year and they find a gorgeous new venue.

I fully believe that they should have just cancelled the con for that year and forwarded everyones bookings for the following year, people would have avoided a shitty con experience and the following year be wowed by the gorgeous venue.

honestly think that my favourite one was the galadriel cosplay. that was so well done and really suited the cosplayer.

the warhammer one I was really good too I must say, and definitely seemed like it took a lot of work, but that's not really what I go for in cosplay stuff like. mostly because I think the scale of it among other things make it harder to digest.
