What's the most revealing cosplay you've done? Did you get cat-called or taken pictures of? What's your opinion on revealing cosplays? Pictures are nice too if you want.
>>
>>8692228
The most revealing i have ever done was Shuichi Shindou's concert outfit with the yellow jacket, crop top and short shorts. I didn't get cat called in that, but I was cat called in other, far less revealing outfits. Though I am male, so cat calling occurs far less frequently for me.
>>
>>8692228

>>8692254
Yes, so we should stick to revealing male costumes, so that we remain on topic and not supply him with halfnaked pictures of us.
>>
>>8692256
We already got pictures of you at cons, it's not like you're very private about exposing your ass cheeks and cleavage.
>>
Sonico and Shura. So comfy. I really am beyond caring what randos think of my body and I have lots of fun. Really it's up to your level of comfort, like I hate my lower stomach but if I can work around it I don't mind skin. Everyone has different comfort levels but I haven't really had any issues.

I'm thinking of cutting the vest to mid-riff also.

replace the thigh highs with knee socks. They are way sexier and you can show off your thighs. Also, get more badges! Nothing sexier than having 10 badges when there are only 8 gyms.

I'm sorry but I think thigh highs are way sexier. The thinner the line of thigh sowing the sexier imo.

Cosplayed pic related so I could pair up with my best friend who was Tony Stark, since it was easy and quick. Only got called at walking from a local parking lot to the con center, but I have no idea what they said. No bad experiences, but still not the type of thing I'd cosplay regularly, it feels weird to show so much skin.

Having no cleavage probably spared me from any creepyness, lel.

I got called Orlando Bloom.

I was wearing a white shirt and waistcoat; my cuffs were all flappy looking because I had taken my cuff links out to roll them up, but had rolled them down again because it was a cold walk home.

I do have a cape, I just don't have it on in this photo. The mask is not panted on, it's actually a hand crafted, expensive, mask based on the worn by Anne Hathaway in TDKR. Hopefully you can see it a bit more a clearly in this pic.

As for the rest of the costume, it is incomplete as I tried to make a post here on /cgl/, asking on were I could by certain things, but no one wanted to help.
>>

>As for the rest of the costume, it is incomplete as I tried to make a post here on /cgl/, asking on were I could by certain things, but no one wanted to help.

So, you made your own post instead of using either the help thread or the Halloween thread, and couldn't find a fucking Robin costume in October? Literally every fucking costume shop sells this. And if you can't get to one, for whatever reason, google "robin costume" and you will get exactly what this is, and with a mask that is actually meant for Robin and not Catwoman's dumb goggle ear mask shit.
Don't blame others for your ineptitude.

Because, under the current administration, this is official government policy. They're the ones pushing for colleges to make this the new standard.

Because people are pushing for the same sort of bullshit standards to be applied to conventions, too.

Because it trivializes real rape and real rape victims, too.

Because, unless things change, this is the future.

(I never thought I'd ever be posting a Doom Paul image on /cgl/, but it's never been so fitting.)

The most revealing thing I've ever cosplayed wasn't even really revealing I just wore a Sailor uniform that had an exceptionally short skirt. Like it barely covered my ass but i wore shorts under it. What's funny is i didn't get harassed at all in it but the one costume that i did get harassed in was a Touhou one where the skirt went down to my knees. It was just one guy though and he was creeping on pretty much everyone so i don't really think much of it. I really want to cosplay Lulu from Yuri Kuma Arashi though. I don't know if i would get harassed in it or not but i think as long as i keep my boyfriend with me while i wear it I'll be fine.

http://jezebel.com/feminist-students-protest-feminist-prof-for-writing-abo-1707714321
>>
>>8699705
No, they're really not.

They are fringe cases. You can find many of them because they're occurring once or twice every few months on the span of an entire country of a hundred million people, but because you can look at all of them all at once, you can ignore the thousands of cases where this isn't what happens, because you don't care about that. You can spend an hour and throw up like 10-20 different cases occurring over the span of three years and the breadth of the entire country, and to you, that is insurmountable proof, but it really isn't proof at all. It's an insignificant data point in the scale of everything else.

This is /pol/s modus operandi, how they claim to be "logical" and tell others that what they're saying is "truth".

They search only for things which confirm their biases, ignore any evidence to the contrary, and scan on a massive scale, with a massive span of time, and when they find a handful of results, they ignore how far they had to search to get them.

Crime seems prevalent because you can hear news from literally anywhere in the world.

Some girl falsely accuses a guy of rape and the judge drops spaghetti and convicts him in a small town in Florida, that's the first time in the county the town is in for the last 6 months. In the entire state, it's the last in like 2 months.

In the entire country, it's the last in like a week.

In the entire world, it's the second one today.

So you say "Look, false rape is the new norm!"

Your logic is flawed. Go put away the doom Paul images and go outside.

He's just trying to fight back in an illogical manner.
To be fair, you could say the same of actual rape cases for your argument.
>>
>>8699952
Exactly.
/pol/ is highly illogical, but they're not the only ones. Rape is not particularly common (although gray area cases and date rape are hard to reliably track). Neither are robberies, murders, or most crimes. We think they're a lot more common than they are because we are up to date on the entire world, and it's trivial to filter out all the mundane and have a news feed full of sensationalist horrors, despite the fact that they're literally 1 in a million.

If it's a one to 100 million chance of happening to any given person per week, (which is "win the lottery" or "get hit by lightning" order of magnitude unlikely), then statistically it'll happen to 60 people every week.

If 1/3 of those are reported, that's 20 news stories, and it makes it seem like it's extremely common.

But it's not, you see.

It's still only 1 in 100 million.
>>
>>8700034
These people are the extremes on both sides, I would hope most people would be somewhere in the middle ground and see how stupid thinking that false rape or something like rape culture is a norm. Did have 2 people try to tell me 50% of women would be raped in their lifetime a few days, maybe I just have to hope harder.
>>
>>8700034
it's less because we are up to date on the entire world and more that the sensationalism of media feeds ignorance to everyone. both the "1 in 3 women totally get raped" and the "1 in 3 women will falsely accuse a man of rape" sides of the argument are just as stupid and dangerous as the other.

my real problem is that any of this misinformation happens in the first place. all these MRA /pol/ shits aren't like that just because of nothing, they're being fed it from somewhere, same with the tumblrinas. it has to stop.

A lot of people really overblow things, but there really are a lot of factors that make it hard to approach scantily-clad cosplayers as a guy.

One is that many of us are just kind of awkward and nervous about it, and know that being awkward and nervous can lead to us saying something that comes off the wrong way.

I don't really expect to get accused of rape or anything, but I do worry that I'm going to come off as a creep, and even if it's only that one girl who thinks I'm one, it still hurts knowing you creeped somebody out.

Another is that it's a very small community that loves gossip and drama, and a small mistake can blow up into social suicide pretty easily.

Then there's the fact that a good percentage of girls in sexy costumes are not single and you could end up in trouble with their boyfriends/husbands.

Finally, there's just a lot of confusion about the whole situation. Look, people might take this the wrong way, but at their root, skimpy costumes are designed to make guys want to have sex with you. I think cosplayers often don't think of it that bluntly, and wear them because of some more abstract form of attention, or because they genuinely like the character without really thinking about why that character's costume was designed the way it was in the first place.

Those of us who actually think about things and have impulse control realize that it's a really tricky situation. We know in our brains that that girl in the sexy costume almost certainly doesn't want to have sex with us, but at the same time our eyes and our dicks are telling us that she does, and it creates enough of an imbalance that we often just avoid contact because of it.
>>
>>8700160
Finally, it's just really hard to go up and talk normally with somebody who's wearing something very sexy.

For the girls reading this, Imagine trying to go up and talk to some cosplay guy that makes you totally wet at first sight. And how hard it'd be to have a conversation with him without showing signs of interest, being a bit flirty, or whatever. Maybe he's got amazing abs, or a really obvious huge dick. Now imagine that if you do show signs of interest, or if you let your eyes flick down to those abs or that dick, that guy is 90% likely to think that you're a creepy slut for doing so and go laugh at you to all of his friends, and maybe even make a fool out of you on /cgl/.

That's what it's like being a guy trying to interact with girls in sexy cosplay.
>>
>>8700165
i know people are going to disagree with this, but you're definitely right. people spaghetti or act like fucking creepy idiots when they wanna fug someone, everyone does that. and yea revealing clothing in general is sexual at it's core so i wish we addressed things more like >>8700160 and not in the standard tumblr 'wymyn can wear wat they want!111!' way.

if people want to change how society views things, they need to do that, not just think things should change and get mad that they don't automatically.
>>
>>8700214
I just wish it were easier to figure out people's intentions and people were more open about them.

I see married friends who wear sexy costumes complaining on FB about guys coming up and hitting on them, and then I see single friends complaining that they wore a sexy costume and nobody talked to them, or that only total douchebros or creepy old dudes etc did.

I kind of wish we could have a con, or con events, where intentions are explicit. Maybe we should have singles-specific events at cons, not late-night dances or speed dating clusterfucks, but just afternoon events in a panel room or cordoned outdoor space or something where people can go and mingle in an atmosphere where they can at least know that everybody there actively wants to meet and talk to people of the opposite sex. If a girl actually wants to use sexy costumes as a way to meet guys, she can wear it there, and decent guys will feel more comfortable approaching her, and it'll help out the non-interested girls a bit too by taking away some of the pressure from guys who are trying to meet girls out in the general con environment.
>>
>>8699792
Got any solid evidence to back that up or are you just arguing in good faith and confidence?
>>
>>8700292

Do I have evidence that scanning the entire world and looking for stories in a large span of time is going to return results that will seem disproportionately large when you don't take into account scale?

That sort of thing is self evident, I would think. If you try to measure the numbers of whales in the ocean by poundage, it's going to appear ridiculous when you look at it on its own.
>>
>>8699705
Well in the second link everyone on even the notoriously bad Jezebel is commenting on how stupid it is, and if you check the Title IX tag you'll see that they threw out the charges against the professor... so...

I mean anon really, this isn't a "feminist issue" - it's a "young sheltered person suddenly introduced to independence and ideologies that encourage kneejerk extremism" issue. Kids/young people are bad at working with nuance. They think if A is bad in one situation, it is bad in every situation. There is no grey, there is only black and white. Etc etc. It's the same shit you see on /pol/, it's the same shit you see on websites where people talk about how psycho feminists are - it's the generalization. People don't learn to critique behavior. They just dismiss certain things as bad and see anyone adhering to that behavior - or even discussing that behavior in a not-entirely-awful light - are also terrible and dismissed.
>>
>>8700292
If you're talking about specifically against the false rape thing, the links posted support my argument entirely.

Together, they look like a strong body of evidence, but the Amherst one took place this May, in Illinois.

The guy who was raped took place in Massachusetts, 2 years ago (the article's actual content is him countersuing, which supports that false charge not being common, and in addition the comments are outraged, which also suggests it isn't common).

The guy with the fivesome occurred last December, in Pennsylvania.

None of the three examples took place in the same state.

None of them even occurred in the same /year/.

They failed to present compelling evidence, but acted like they were impossible to disprove.

Outrageous claims require outrageous evidence. No such evidence has been submitted.
