Any plus-size gulls working on cute last minute autumn or halloween inspired coords before winter takes over?
There was a cute shop linked a while ago that does some plus size stockings. Considering them.
A good place to start is by checking taobao sites because they usually do custom sizing. In fact, most indie brands are willing to do that if you ask them.
Here's a list of taobao stores: http://lolita-tips.tumblr.com/post/31378489567/a-list-of-lolita-taobao-shops
Also, I'm not sure how new you are to lolita so I'm not trying to sound condescending, but a ton of brands make dresses that can accommodate some plus-size lolitas. Make sure you know your measurements and always check those for each individual dress. If you can find dresses with shirring, do that.
How plus size are we talking here? There is no brand that makes exclusively plus size. You really have to know your measurements and look at every brand and Taobao. A lot of Taobao stores have plus size but AP and Meta also have options.
Honestly as a plus size lolita its always a hunt, and lots of checking of measurements on Lolibrary. You just really need to out the work into it.
Japan now has that La Farfa magazine and so what and I was wondering: is there any actual plus sized lolita model?
I mean j-magazine lvl model.
Fanplusfriend and taobao shops that do custom sizes are all I can think of, I've got pic related in wine coming in eventually, but other than that I'm not sure. Would also appreciate sauce on other plus sized egl/ega vests. F+F's quality (especially custom size orders) is kind of a crapshoot from what I've heard.
I got an op custom from them and the sleeves were baggy which is really weird because usually the arms are tight on everything for me. Everything else fit fine. I agree with the quality though. The fabric was really thin but it was lined
As the other anon said, Lady Sloth. There is also Glitter Tale, Anna House, and F+F (but they can be hit or miss).
As for socks and tights I'm not sure about 100% lolita ones but Sock Dreams sells plus sized tights and socks. Also TejaJamilla on etsy.
I feel like there should be a listing ala taobao thread since this gets asked periodically
Sorry anon, I'll try and post better ones next time. How's this?
To begin with it would be better if she wore a proper blouse instead of a skin tight undershirt/ t-shirt
I love her coords too. I'm not very found of those kinds of wigs on anyone desu, but I remember her saying something about balance and big hair... So I at least get what she is going for.
But I would rather see her more like pic related.
>tfw when you find the plus size lolita thread filled with cute, well-dressed girls who know how to flatter their shape well, and are mostly only chubby.
Keep it up girls :) You all dress adorably!
Signed, anon who expected to find fat weebs and got polotely schooled
Fresh off CoF. She is adorable!!! Makes me want to get this jsk afterall, I was afraid chubby girls wouldn't look good in it.
On a side note, do any plus size lolis really want to twin with their friends but are afraid of clearly being the fat twin? I just want someone with a similar body type to twin with...
I twinned with skinnier friend before, there's always going to be someone who might say something but as long as your coords are on point most people wont say anything about not being the same body type.
The reason I'm afraid to do it is because the coords may be on point but the differences in fit are just too obvious (pic related)...
That's true, but I was just talking in general. I feel like if you saw a pic of this girl alone (and the front of her skirt not unfortunately going up) she would look much better than when she stands next to someone smaller.
Even if a plus size girl wears the same dress as a thin girl, it will sit so obviously different. Usually the waist would be much higher due to boobs, and the viewer would focus on that difference. If two plus size girls are twinning together like in >>8690631 there is no jarring difference.
That's why I wish I could twin with someone with the same body type and we could just be two cute chubby lolitas.
the other girl in >>8690631 doesn't look plus size, more average. the biggest difference between that one and >>8711334 is the plus size girl is so much taller than the other one. while I agree, the dress obviously does sit different on her from being plus sized, just the fact that she's taller is jarring. while in the other photo, the girls are closer in height. the angle is probably helping too.
it would probably help, if twinning with a smaller sized girl, to get cuts that are more friendly and flattering to your body type, whatever that may mean. (a longer bodice to accommodate for more bust, a-line skirt, whatever)
It honestly depends upon their weight distribution. I find it makes people look a lot larger if they already have big arms and legs. But it can look nice on people who are on the busty side but don't carry excess weight as much in their arms and legs.
I always look a little smaller in chiffon underbust jsks than I do in lower waisted cuts simply because I'm wider in the torso and my weight goes to my midsection and boobs but not to my legs. It hides that a lot better. I'm on the low end of plus, probably about a 14 at the moment. Though they did look nicer on me when I was an 8/10, as did everything else. Curse this weight gain.
I'm not plus sized but this makes me really want this dress.
The girls on this thread look so good - when I thought of plus-sized Lolita I think of bigger girls in hideous replicas that didn't suit them. This has really opened my eyes!
I guess because I'm plus sized myself and it's frustrating to be this way. I'm often jealous of thinner girls who can wear what they want, and I feel like I have to work twice as hard to look decent. I can't imagine being a girl who doesn't have those problems lumping herself in with the fatties just for some asspats.
(Obligatory comment that yes, I am on a weight loss and exercise plan and I usually keep my whinging to myself.)
Do you even know how compliment fishing works? Makes perfect sense.
It's like girls who call themselves ugly when they're at least average, or those girls who purposefully hang around uglier women hoping that they'll be more noticeable in comparison. It's cheap, but it can work.
What is a good place to find nice plus size boleros? I fit into shirred AP and L IW, but I have chunky arms, so normal cutsews and cutsew material boleros are too small in the arms. I tried hmhm on Taobao, but the quality of the bolero was really terrible!
maxicimam has really ugly things though, and are a bit more expensive than even some popular cuter prints from ap/baby/meta
also the resale is pretty low. in fact you can NEVER find any of it anywhere other than from the main sites to buy it from
I'd rather cram myself into slightly smaller brand than try to fit this kind of monstrosity. Though some of the "lovely" dresses aren't terrible.
Thats unfortunate. Some people cant afford good dental care. It wasn't only until recently I have been trying to take extra care of my teeth since I have shitty insurance. Some of them are pretty fubar though. I wish the fear of fucking up my teeth hit me when I was 17 and not 27
Doing a minor dump, just to get things going.
Some of these are a bit old and not so great but meh...
Any plus size girls who wear oldschool here? Im trying to add more old school style stuff to my wardrobe, but am surprisingly having trouble finding a white cotton blouse with a large peter pan collar. Any suggestions?
Depends on how plus size we're talking. I found an old Meta T size blouse from the mid 2000's on egl-comm-sales about three years ago. I use that often when I wear old school in colder weather since it's long sleeved. Some of Baby's babydoll blouses would work great too. I saw a black one up on mbok for about 2k yen.
DESU, I have Bodyline's l075 and aside the cotton being a little thinner and stiffer than I'd like (not as bad as some bodyline blouses though) it works fine for old school as well. The lace is pretty good too. It's only up in biege for 2L and black and biege for M which would fit on the smaller end of plus for lolita.
Bunnyhouse, no custom fee. I have bunny house petti and it's my favorite one. There have been times here it went flat, however I just throw it in the dryer to tumble and it refluffs itself.
And there cheap too (paid $20 for the petti and about $10 for shipping from Vietnam)
Found this on CoF, it's too cute!
Well... It's cute and whatever, but that coat will never be buttoned up.
A quick self post. This is my first ever “proper“ Lolita coord just with the headpiece and the wig changed (first i tried the lavender wig with the headbow, than the black wig with the barret)
Would love to extend my coords (though I am more on the VK and oshare kei side) but I don't know...
Reviving this question with a caveat- plus size lacey tights?
Looking for the kinds of 'lace' tights that are not fishnet, so more like the sheer tight with an embroidered lace pattern. Something like pic related but plus size. Sockdreams only has fishnet style and they look a bit tacky.
Does anyone here happen to own the AatP Vampire Nocturne JSK 1? If so, would you happen to know how forgiving the back shirring is?
Depends on what measurements you are
I think that is one of Bodyline's blouses.
Damn, I only see tattoo/plain/fishnet tights on there right now, maybe I missed them.. Thank you though!
If anyone else has tights recs still looking! I've already checked sockdreams, modcloth, F21, H&M, and now Torrid to no avail. Why is it so hard to find cute plussize tights that aren't basics or 'sexy'.
There really isn't though. That's why I usually love these threads. That tumblr puts up pics of like all plus size Lolitas, and lots of them are ita or dress badly for their body. These threads have much higher quality desu and give actual inspiration of how good a plus size lolita can look. Seeing half of coords being ita just perpetuates the stereotype that plus size girls always look bad, and you can't make lolita work while fat.
The dress seams are normally only 1.5 -2cm wide, including the serged edges that you can't use. So if you let out all the seams you could get maybe an extra inch or two from doing it, while lowering the resale value of your dress, especially if you DIY it yourself instead of taking it to the seamstress (If you're asking on here whether it's hard to do I'm going to guess you're not an experienced seamstress to start with).
It also doesn't help much with the fabric being pulled up, you can also let out the waist seam, but with only one seam that's 1-2cm, best case scenario you only gain 2cm.
So basically, you'd only gain a little bit of extra fabric. I'd only advise it if you already fit into the dress but it looks tight, then the 1-2inches would make all the difference whether it looks boobloafy or not. If you're close to 90cm there's still a pretty good chance old school stuff will fit you (some old school baby is actually pretty generous.).
If you're over 100cm in the bust, it's probably better if you look for fully shirred bodices instead, if you don't like the way full shirred bodies look on you, at least you can take that in to the tailor and then they can reconstruct a new bodice, instead of trying to make a bigger dress out of some small scraps of fabric.
Does anyone know what the sizing is like on this dress? I've heard it's smaller than AP's regular fully back shirred dresses?
Try Miss Point on taobao, they do custom sizing. Pic related.
If there are any other himekaji/casual J-fash plus girls on here, there are quite a few things on Wet Seal Plus right now that would work (look in the clearance). I spent thirty bucks and got a dress, a pair of shorts, and two tops.
