> Which characters benefit the most from having a prop with them, and which props?
> What is your preferred way of greying up?
For photoshoots literally any character will be bumped by a good prop, at least if you're shooting single. Sure, you might get a few neat shots, but chsnces are they won't be particularly interesting.
she's still an asshole and a lot of people in the cosplay community still hate her but she's off of tumblr now which took the spotlight off of her (pretty sure she's still using tumblr but she isn't posting cosplay any more). she's dersite cosplay on facebook now and is also on twitter.
she hasn't learned anything if that's what you're wondering. she's just learned to be quiet.
and yeah, she still hasn't refunded most of the people she scammed, and at this point she likely never will.
heaven is mostflogged-level shit
It was definitely before, which is why it blew up on tumblr. There was no other place to go. Unfortunately, all it really got out of her was a half-hearted apology. She moved out of Arizona (where most of the people she scammed lived) and that is the last of it. I just hope no one is stupid enough to commission her after all that nonsense.
hello, cosplaying crockertier jane soon and i have a few questions.
firstly, i wondering if anyone has any tips for making her tiara. i had success a couple of years ago using the soda can method for a sailor moon tiara, but i've also heard of people using craft foam. i've never tried the latter, does anyone have any preferences?
also general opinions on the "possession" cybery lines? i think they look neat when done right but there's a lot of room to fuck up
Is someone here trying to be smart again?
if i was trying to troll i would have complemented their troll horns and asked if they would do a horn tutorial. (i still say if they just started making passable troll horns most of their cosplays would be decent)
First (smallish) tag dump in a long time, posting anything somewhat decent.
That's all i have for now, cheers.
Do you guys prefer troll contacts to be yellow or blood-colored? I've heard a lot of differing opinions on the topic.
I'm fond of blood coloured ones as long as its for a fairly detailed outfit, and the contacts aren't the cartoony bright red ones.
Black or grey usually looks good with even the trolls basic outfits.
Grey or black is always a safe bet, but coloured tend to look good with GT outfits and more realistic approaches to the outfits. Or if you just plain and simple can't pass for a young teenager anyway.
Beforus trolls should wear whiteouts if any, but I can oversee coloured contacts for casual outings.
Yellow can look pretty okay for rainbow drinkers, but I'm not s huge fan of them otherwise.
indeed it was. Friday was absolutely abysmal and terribly run by the usual disasters in Michiganstuck while accompanied by pube-beard Dad (don't act like you don't now exactly who I mean).
Saturday had a surprisingly large turnout with copious amounts of ancestors even? Though, still badly run... Couldn't hear anything, and everyone was everywhere. Left early both nights to go do private shoots because wow, no fucking thanks.
Why are all female Tavros designs so utterly devoid of personality.
Answering my owm question: yes it is. She's a pretty talented Russian cosplayer. Also it seems like she actually have that contact.
So we know Homestuck is kinda a thing in Russia, what about eastern asian cosplay communities? I don't think I've ever seen a Japanese Homestuck.
https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=homestuck not directly related to cosplay but if you scroll down and you can mouse over the countries and get an idea what level of internist their is. their seems to be a lot in the Philippines and a bit in south korea.
I dont she does have the contact, i think its edited, or maybe she did actually get a real contact? But from before it was really inconsistent in each photo, size and position mostly.
Wig piece on a bald cap, extra wefting and cutting close, faux fur, actually shaving your head and using make up.
I've also heard the suggestion of molding a silicone cap and adding hairs like a skin top, but I've never seen it done.
Disciple's skirt is a weird choice but I kind of like it. Although
>Wearing that fucking sufferer necklace
I kind of want to see a proper lolita Aranea... Classic, probably. Could be cute.
This is fine but it's not lolita...
Saw this on amino.
I just really hope she doesn't use one of the cosplay photos as her senior photo.
DESU not really. At first it was fun mostly because of the chat functionality and forum activity, but since membership has died off both of these features aren't very useful. It's still fine but doesn't offer any advantage over say Facebook or Instagram.
There's so much potential here and it's very clean and yet...
I know, i just thought it to be a little funny. Its dumb that it seems to be a site-wide thing, i don't really think CGL needs word filtering.
Its just that the black is so out of place and the underskirt is odd as well, like the skirt was probably the best part of the outfit.
Also, the face shes making reminds of pic related
Video? The dot sizes and placement changes for every photo she takes, though she could've very well have gotten one(s) made between now and whenever this video takes place.
How does one shipping shoots? Me and my partner are already, well, partners, so we're comfortable with being close, but I'd really appreciate some tips on poses/framings that are sweet but not too overt or in your face. Let's be real, nobody want to look like your general con shipping photos.
Maybe looking at shippy fan art (or romantic art in general) will help, some of it is cute and its easy to weed out the "in your face" ones.
Also look at other peoples couple cosplays and get interested in that, take in mind what types of interactions would be appropriate for your characters to be doing.
I think the most successful shippy photos come across as natural/candid and highlight emotional intimacy over physical attraction. IMO softer or happy expressions and a little bit of g-rated touching is always the cutest. What ship are you doing?
What the others have said all works. Looking at cute fanart especially.
Find a photographer you're both comfortable with, and who is also shipper trash- you've got the perfect setup for a lovely shoot and great results.
Out of the CBC duo, which one is which again? I sometimes find it a bit hard to tell the two apart and figure out who is dong what. Unless it's not supposed to matter that much or that they don't like disclosing.
Hhhhammy is the one who crossplays, Gothichamlet does a mix and has the lovely thighs.
But like, I try to recognize people by their faces and it's a bit difficult sometimes. They're never explicitly clear on who does what either like they don't see "okay so out of the two of us, Hhhammy did this". Like, which one did Lapis? Ragyo? That Chip and Dale cosplay? The Pidgeot gijinka?
man I am losing my shit over this. How do you even make something that smooth?
I can usually tell them apart when they aren't crossplaying and aren't in paint. Pic related, GH is on the left, Hhhhammy on the right, Pyropi center. But I get what you mean, Gothichamlet is hard to pin down because she cosplays a big range of characters. It's easier to pick out which one is Hhhhammy because she has the round face and nose.
This just in: different people have different opinions. I think she's pretty cute.
Next time on It Came From The Tag
I know that there's a few more comm admins around here - what do you guys usually do in terms of holiday meetups? These past years we've gone ice skating, but it'd be fun to do something more organized.
We usually do a cute little Holiday Sweaterstuck thing, but there's also a cheap convention the first week of December. I know some stucks hit the Toronto Cosplay Skating event too.
Last year we did the sweaterstuck event at a couple's house. It was nice and cheesy. Everyone brought food, gifts for White Elephant, and we played silly games for prizes. It was a good time.
If I wasn't on my phone right now, I'd share some of the 'cheesy family photos' we took.
They're a couple that have been in the toronto homestuck community for about 5 years now. They help run meets sometimes, and are very lovely people.
... though maybe this is just an instance of Canadian vs American groups. We're a pretty tight knit, social bunch.
Man the Toronto comm seems really sweet! I'd love to visit sometime.
What kinda games do you do? We're planning a thing but it seems like we'll be upwards of 30 or so attendants at least... Right now it seems like maybe going to the local christmas market and possibly watching the Lucia procession. But aside from that and some sort of gift exchange and chilling at a café, nothing is decided.
I've got a question for you all, Homestuck Seagulls.
What do you guys think/what would your opinions be about cosplaying as aa God Tier, but not as an actual character?
What I mean is...just making a God Tier outfit and wearing it to a Con as is. As just a normal person or as yourself instead of as a real character.
For example, my friends and I all have "our own" God Tier titles we have gotten from personality quizzes online (I was the Mage of Hope, my friend was the Sylph of Time, etc) and I was wondering what people would think if we actually made those outfits and wore them to Cons for fun. Would it be fine, or do you think people would see us as shitty OCs or self inserts? Is the whole thing just a dumb idea?
If you're ever coming up, let me know! Even just by posting in the Torontostuck tag, you'll likely get a few people wanting to do dinner or something in town. The older homestucks especially.
We did a 'draw with your eyes closed' challenge. 4 people drew the prompt, the rest of the people voted on which was the 'best', that person got a prize. Switch to 4 new people, go again. It was pretty funny, everyone enjoyed the caliborn-esque scribbles.
i think iv given up sunday cosplay at cons. the freedom of knowing you dont have to get into cosplay and pack+checkout by 11 or drive home in cosplay is an amazing thing.
Obvious poster is probably obvious but....
The con chair signed a contract with their original venue promising to fill X amount of rooms and obviously couldn't get local stuckaboos to drop 200$ on rooms. Cue fees, a last dit ch attempt to switch hotels, and the con chair deleting his email (that ppl are supposed to contact for their refunds).
Their programming staff sent out notice to panelists and threw the chair under the bus but no email notice has gone out to attendees so who knows if people will show up tomorrow.
What a joke. Their first year hadn't been that bad, either. For being full of baby stuckaboos.
the horn pile dosnt stop from getting taller
I'm going to blindly guess ChristmasStuck Sollux, only because of the glasses.
thread mostly dead? tag dump
thats all that hasnt already been posted
my favorite interpretation of davesprite. it's a little fancy dreamer-esque but i adore it.
Why this make up.
Folks, please be careful with your blush.... Best case scenario you look like you'd get Karkat executed, worst and you look like you're a girl who's Karkat who's about to get executed.
No, I remember it too. I'm assuming the person posting it is the same one who periodically drops pictures of well received, old cosplays and says it's them from a recent con (like the one of that Meenah holding the scalemate).
Holy mother of fuck how is that possible
Still not drag queen enough, but we're getting there.
Now i have one for you, guess who it is.
my headcannon is sollux captor has sexy edgy snakebite lip piercings
Why are most well-done Rose cosplays actually crossplays? And why do I not figure this out until AFTER I'm done enjoying them?
That's a crossplay?
Anyway, here's Cifera's GT Rose. I'm sure there are other good Rose cosplays out there. In fact, I don't even know any good Rose crossplays to begin with (if there are any).
Just on a quick tagdump and probably a rant at bad wig styling
Why is it that so many people give Terezi full bangs??
this could have been such a great cosplay but that wi g
This wig could probably be more voluminous t.b.h.
im not even going to lie here this wig is so bad i actually started laughing when i saw this
and they've been cast on so many of those dumb humanstuck askblogs on tumblr? how??
why the hell have they given karkat a mullet
Actually theres a whole group of these with really oddly styled wigs. I do realise they're trying to be 'canon' but honestly
actually this one doesnt even have a wig wow
right ok thats it for the tagdump
honestly why is it so hard for people to go and look up how to style a fucking wig
ok no i said i was done but this fucking wig just popped up on the tag again and i cant get over how stupid it looks?
it reminds me of really badly styled peridot wigs
Terezi's bangs are kind of odd and hard to read, i think a lot of people just cop out on them rather than potentially fucking up their bangs and ruining the wig
From just seeing it from the front i didn't see what was really wrong with it, but holy hell the whole back is completely unstyled
desu, I think these have promise. The horns need some sanding and a better paint job but aside from Karkat and Gamzee the sewing jobs look fine except for those damn unironed darts. Wigs and wings are kinda meh but I bet people would feel different with a better photographer.
There's varying levels of badness but some are fine (Nepeta in particular is probably the best of the bunch). This just goes to show how important good photography is for cosplay... they'd look worlds better with good angles that aren't against a boring grey background.
Hey hsg! My computer recently went kill, and so I lost my three year collection of HSCOS, collected mainly from this thread... Care to dump your favourites, mayhaps? Not neccessarily top tier, well known names or anything, just some kinda decent cosplays that you like for whatever reason.
