I always find some cute clothes at Forever 21, H&M, Primark(if you have one), Topshop and New Look.
It is very much a hit and miss, and the quality is not AP, but because these are big fast fashion shops, they can afford to invest in any small trends basically, so you have a good chance with them deciding to pick up on smaller street styles like these.

You can, and I promise that at least I will give at least one positive comment, but in general unless a lolcow posts the first few selfposts get all the salt out on the thread. The last few cute fashion generals with selfposts all had the following pattern:

I'll bite! I've been trying to build up a himekaji wardrobe but I think my coordinates will lean a bit outside of the style due to the extreme casualness I'd like to wear most weekdays.
I think this outfit would have been much better with boots and/or some thigh highs if I'd had them on hand at the time and more accessories (maybe a hat or a nicer necklace?)
I also need to learn to do something with my hair and makeup but >tfw 80% humidity every day
I haven't been able to do anything with my hair lately.

It's just the very beginning but I'm happy that I can start dressing cuter. I'm already getting lots of compliments.

I think the mismatching blues + the double milk carton is too much. The skirt and bag look similar so those will look okay together but I think the shirt would clash and double the tackiness. The top and skirt could also work with white shoes though.

Get an appropriate bag, cute accessories, curl your hair and follow some of larme's makeup tutorials and it might work. Check out Ulyana Sergeenko's 2011 fall collection. Although it is high fashion, you can easily try to find similar pieces in normalfag fashion stores and it will basically result in your wanted aesthetic, which is a normalfag take on the 40s.

I've used it and my every day purse is from there, but I did have to sew the strap back after it snapped from the weight and it's sort of cheap looking now that it's fraying since it's faux leather.

brown backpack is my everyday carry, but it is starting to fray or it's hard to explain that the faux leather trim seems to be coming off. I had it tear on me at the seam after I put too much into it. I haven't mended it and instead just lengthened the strap and now use it as a satchel. Kind of cheap, I'd opt for something higher quality in all honesty.

The white quilted bag was bigger than expected and very cute. Plenty of room, good quality, so is the other bag, which is actually my favorite of the three. I recommend it.

The peter pan collar dress is very cute. It's one size and pretty short, but it's adorable. Simple but the pattern is cute. I can't tell if it's dogs or cats, but it's my favorite of the dresses.

That whole order is from sammydress. I think they still have the sandals. I'd recommend you sew the bows down. They're basically regular sandals with a long piece of material tied in a bow to them. They're very cute and comfortable, but one came off on me at the airport and I didn't notice in my rush. I had to undo the other and just forsake the bow altogether, but they were my most used sandals all summer long. My foot tan can prove it.

I'd go for a real leather one by zatchels (they have a good sale on!) or cambridge satchel company. They looks smart enough for otome and such anyway, and you can just tie a bow or put a cute keychain on. I don't know of any scalloped ones but there are cute colours. I think it's worth getting something good quality, even if it is relatively plain and expensive.

Not sure what sort of cute you're going for but I think the transparent ones tend to be a lot less harsh and obviously more neutral than a pastel color. Even white would work, the softer the color the better for casual cute outfits.
If your heart is set on the black one, and you're into creepy cute/pastel goth, I see black chokers in coords all the time and I think they work just fine, but if you're more of a cute girly top and skirt kind of girl you might wind up looking like Leda or Kiki, where it sort of works but also makes you look like a full on fetishy weeaboo.

most of it is pretty true to size. for skirts, i wouldn't buy them unless you have a waist that's no more than 26 inches, maybe 27. for sweaters you may have a tad more give depending on the material.

I got a satchel from ASOS recently (specifically a River Island model, though), and although I hardly put anything in it besides a notebook or two, small bottle of water, misc. items like a pencil case or whatever one of the straps came right off soon after I bought it. There's also a ton of stray threads emerging, one of the front clasps falls off all the time. It's shockingly made but I find it difficult to find satchels in the old school, dark brown style I like.

Being slightly chubby is okay for j-fashion. Just carefully look at the sizing and aim for skirts with shirring or an elastic band. I personally like high-waist skirts that flare out, like an a-line. Culottes aren't a bad choice if you aren't entirely comfortable in a short skirt, too.

Hi, I have a question..

I tend to dress like a little kid from the 60's-70's, lots of earthy tones, sets like the set in question but with a less elaborate blouse, lots of jumper/suspender skirts with frilly but simple blouses. A lot of it is from mori brands/stores, but with minimal layering and less flowy. Earthy colours and pale pinks.

Is there a name for this style, or did I create my own?

I received the item a week ago,- the dress is absolutely beautiful and seems sturdy and durable. The only problem I've noticed is that I have quite broad shoulders, and the top half of the dress does not look too flattering on me. I think I need something to cover my shoulders, like a crochet jacket or a bolero, but I'm not sure what to look for. Any input is much appreciated!

Honestly, general thrift (at least the ones I've been to) are really awful for this. I would definitely go for boutiques that cater to the general aesthetic unless your thrift stores are in an area where people would give up things like this. So, definitely not in CA where I've looked. Maybe if you live in colder parts or places with more European immigrants? (assuming you're in the US or Canada).

I would definitely look up ethnic prints from Europe after doing some research on traditional dresses and patterns.

I love this style so much, damnit.

On the flip side, I think accessories for DK are really easy to find compared to other J-fash since it's so forgiving and you can lift from both normie and western alternative styles. Like the oddfellows collars are easy to find on ebay or etsy and places like Forever 21 always have things with tassels and interesting textures this time of year.

Berets and other hats are easy to find, and I would recommend looking into Tudor and Elizabethan England style hats for this. I got a really cute hat with gold trimming and tassel on the side from a Ren faire.
