Now that most drams have blown over, share your last minute prep stress stories anons.
Last thread hit limit.
Two weeks left. How much left of your cosplay do you have to do? What days you cosplaying what? What plans do you have as far as pannels? What guests you looking forward to this year?
Old thread is saging
Both good and cringe content welcome here
To start, apparently USA50's first single is coming out in ten days. I thought the project was dead already but I guess not!
Crystal Rose now has a third generation of members. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_NqqGds_l4
I hope Swyong's singing voice isn't as annoying as her speaking voice.
I can't hear a damn thing Aoi is saying.
Everyone else seems kind of decent.
They should advertise themselves a bit more, then; I completely forgot this group even existed and wouldn't have known they were releasing a song were it not for your post.
I have a mission for you girls!
Can we fix the Wikipedia page for lolita?
It lacks information, decent sourcing and basically anything that could be useful to someone interested in the fashion.
I know, I know, someone who likes and is interested in lolita should be willing to go out of their way to do proper research; I agree and am certain it is true in most cases... but what of those who do not? Be it artists or inexperienced cosplayers, there are many who would definitely benefit from having a reasonable amount of information at their fingertips.
The most important information i think that needs to be inserted into the page are:
> the most defining characteristics need to be clarified
I believe this might prove helpful in curbing the association with fetish and sissy dresses, also. Things like the silhouette and information on it's importance
> expanded information on each style and derivatives
> examples of lolita-inspired styles
Here is a chance to disassociate with the non-lolita more thoroughly. If you feel particularly catty I am sure someone could write a well-referenced account of why Lolita is not the same as a certain musician's "adult-baby" ideal
More than anything else I feel like the page needs far more in terms of resources for the uninformed..
Or GLB issues, maybe? Things translated from the original Japanese?
The problem with citations for this fashion is there aren't very many well-known sites that are seen as ""respectable" in wider terms that would work as sources I think. But I remember some really interesting academic translations that have been done that could work well
>That group of guys decked out in military gear at every convention
So are they cosplay Battlefield/Call of Duty or something?
>That group of guys with the Umbrella Corp cosplays
Varies really but the only cons that would actually work out are video game related ones. Since you could easily be seen as going from one of the recent shooters that came out. Ghost Recon Wildlands has typical tacticool gear over plain clothes but they don't have a really different appearance. It's not like Future Soldier where the characters had things that made them stand out as Ghosts.
But yeah these type of cosplays usually work more for vidya related cons than anime or even comic ones. Unless they have something apart of them that sets them to a series that stands out.
Feel free to post things ITT like (Keep it /cgl/-related; means either cosplay or J-fashion [e.g. Lolita/Brolita, Nanchatte, etc.]):
- Usefull guides that can be applied to crossplaying/crossdressing
- Questions, help, sharing advice to improve your appearance to pass temporary as the opposite gender (Male -> Female, Female -> Male)
- pictures of crossplay/crossdressing coords, selfposts
- personal experience/stories regarding crossplay/crossdressing
- Anything in sexual context/fetish stuff
- Anything related to gender transition like hormones, operation etc.; >>>/lgbt/ might be the better place for this
Collection of guides and informative material (general, MtF, FtM):
(Still empty, if you have anything helpful, share it here or send it to me via e-mail)
WIP (will be added to the spreadsheet later on)

Asked this in the help thread, but crossposting here because I might get more helpful answers.
Does anyone know where I can buy an airbrushed muscle shirt like this for crossplay? Either premade or commission, I don't care which. The only seller I know that does these is Kawaii Ugly, and they're not accepting commissions right now.
Think of like a soft cute deco look with water related stuff. I was looking at Cult Party Kei stuff the other day and thought "why don't we have this, but with mermaids?"
I'm talking about a J-fashion inspired look not some stupid seapunk shit.
I think as a whole style, it's too specialized a thing but I think you could make mermaid and ocean inspired coordinates in lots of different j-fashion styles, especially shiro nuri.

Kollision Con - Yet another con killed by ACEN. (they cancelled it).
Has anyone noticed how ridiculous ACEN gets towards other cons when they start to get big? I've noticed the way they shut out Anime Midwest and any other local con whenever they consider them competition.
Kollision Con could have been alright, but it was pretty shit - but that's just cause they never had any money to do anything good. But this is just another example of how shitty ACEN is towards other cons.
I saw the con row in their hall - it's all cons that aren't a threat. Like Anime Nebraska. LOL who is going to Anime Nebraska from ACEN.
How though? From what I'm seeing of Facebook reviews, the badge prices for Kollision were just too steep for a con of its size with few attractions.
>it was pretty shit - but that's just cause they never had any money to do anything good.
And there you have it. ACEN didn't "shut out" this con, the people running that con just didn't have the knowledge and dedication to be able to pull in attendance.
>I've noticed the way they shut out Anime Midwest
Anime Midwest is run by a guy who is pretty universally hated in the con community and for good reason. I don't think ACEN shut it out because they see it as competition, I think people are just becoming more aware of Kopf and choosing not to support him.
>Like Anime Nebraska. LOL who is going to Anime Nebraska from ACEN.
A lot of people? I'm not from the area, but plenty of people here on the east coast are willing to travel 7 hours or more for a con in Ohio or the south. I lived in Minnesota and that side of the Midwest is a fucking dead area for cons unless you enjoy supporting Kopf.
>I saw the con row in their hall - it's all cons that aren't a threat.
Maybe those are the only cons that felt the need to advertise because they're smaller and need the attendance?
Like OP, maybe think things through before you make a thread about them.

I wonder what happened to queenofdorks dressup game? I'm sad she took it down.
In many places in the world its warming up, so I'd love to see your favorite lolita/otome coords for warmer weather.
What do you do to stay cool in lolita? What tips or tricks do you have for other gulls?
What's your favorite main piece for summer? What's your favorite blouse, cardigan, or bolero for summer?
Are there any parts of your coords you tone down or skip when its warm out?
What accessories do you break out when the weather's nice?
Do you incorportate parasols into your coords? Where did you get yours?
Do you ever "break" the rules and wear open toed shoes or go blouseless?
(It'd be super cool if this thread didn't devolve into an argument over whether or not your shoulders need to covered, we had enough of that in the COF thread.)
I'll start with a small dump.
Do you guys have any tips on how I can form mercys halo from black worbla?
Im just stumped on how to make it. Everything else about her costume is quite simple except for the halo.
Any comments? Can't find anything online on how to best make it.
This didn't need its own thread. There's a help thread, and an overwatch thread you could've used to ask this.
Instead you killed a thread for your own stupid question.
Please use those next time.
After finishing Jane Mai and An Nguyen's book ''So Pretty / Very Rotten'', I've been wanting to read more J-fashion related content in '''ebook format'''. Google only turns up blogs, general fashion books, and magazines. Are there really so little english books dedicated to this topic, or am I just looking in the wrong places? Do you have any recommendations?
"Kamikaze Girls" (or "Shimotsuma Monogatari") by Novala Takemoto
Some ebook versions are floating around the web but I mostly see paperback versions.
About one month until Colossalcon. Let's discuss.
>How are your cosplays coming?
>Are you planning your coords?
>Where are you staying?
>What are you excited for?
>Any cosplay predictions?
