Was at a fancy dinner party with coworkers for the holidays, so naturally I was in lolita. They all know I wear it so it's nice to be able to wear it without getting swarmed with questions. However there was also every lolitas arch nemesis at the party: fabric covered chairs. Managed to take about seven chairs out during the night knocking over many a handbag and jacket. I would have taken a petti off but I only had a useless tiny clutch with me and with valet parking getting back to the car was out of the question. I was having childhood flashbacks to playing minesweeper the entire night.

If you've ever been to Colossal before the attendance boom in 2013, it'll probably feel a lot more like that. It will be smaller, and probably stay that way due to Dragoncon being so close even though that's at the opposite end of the cost. I think it's a good thing though. less crowd stress, less parking stress, less stress on staff.

Cosplay and panels probably won't be amazing but still not awful, but con-run programming should still be fun. Can't really speak on the game room or rave since there's little info, but I'm sure they'll still be enjoyable.

Overall the vibe should be the same and that's what counts.

I couldn't go to main ColossalCon so when I heard about East I got all excited and jumped on my friend's room offer. I'm taking my little brother as well, we're both very excited and planning our cosplays!

as someone who has worked in a non ferrous foundry for a few years ill tell you now that a cast chest plate will most likely look like garbage if done at home with out proper casting gear, and it will also not look like amour is supposed too, if i where you id go for some thin alloy plate (or thin sheet steel if really keen) and rivet it together, it will be faster, easier and cheaper as some one who also makes armor for for roman reenactors as a side job

I used to go (years ago) and stopped because the way they organized the reg line got awful, and because the staff started getting snotty and pushy as years progressed. Also one year there were like a million dr. who panels and almost nothing else.

Lol a staffer walked right by a flat chested girl dressed as Yoko in a very skimpy bikini to tell my busty friend dressed as Yoko in a full coverage bra to change. Really solidified my decision to not come back for a few years. I'm interested to hear if it's gotten better.

Not at all. It's my home con but I think this may be my last year at least for a little while. They've closed off more and more over the years to the point you can't even walk down the outdoor stairs without needing a badge. The artist alley is slowly withering away because of the high prices for a table and being put towards the end of the dealer's room. Unless the guests and main events are for you, it isn't worth it.
