Anyone prefer one over the other? How many lolitas actually wear a crinoline? Or is it reserved to accurate historical costumes instead?
I wish more people who used crinolines understood that you still have to put pettis over them or you get lines in your dress. You can almost always tell who's using crinolines because they think it's a petti replacement.
They are usually called "cage skirt" these days, you see them with ero a lot.
I was thinking of trying a crinoline so I wouldn't have to worry about my pettis deflating anymore. Sitting sounds like a major pain in the ass though.
Any seagulls checking out the new con up in the Niagara Falls area called Fan World? Looks like they announced Beethy on their Facebook page today.
Never heard of the con but everyone knows beethy. They paying his way?
Okay this seems like a standard mummy costume. Should be easy, but I need something that won't unravel within 15 minutes. Anyone got any ideas on how a costume for this guy would be worn?
Oh! I have a good idea. Go to the help thread.
I was feeling nostalgic, and was remembering the 'live action anime girl' Apollo smile. She comes up sometime when cosplay is mentioned, especially when talking about current cosplayers like JNig. Out of curiosity, did she ever actually cosplay as anything other than her alternate persona? Random fact, she turns 49 on February 16th... which makes me feel old, as her introducing some anime on Sci-fi helped get me into anime a really long time ago.
I remember her doing some lolita shit before she started hosting but that's it. I still have two of her CDs
I didn't start congoing until about 2008 so I really had never heard of her till now. She seems like the original cute blonde babe except with real skill. Honestly she's cute af and I'm sad I missed all this.
I don't think Apollo Smile was ever a cosplayer. She was just a "living anime girl" who tried to turn being a weeb into a performing art.
I am searching for a Military/Marine type Lolita to make a better choice please send all you got in the following schema.

Soooo...next week.
Who's going? Is there anything worth going to? Any cool stands for lolita stuff? Or just weaboo trash shit?

I remember Lunieshop from the lolita Lunie being there in 2014. She was cute but you just feel she's kinda.."stuck up" in a way? But if i was spoiled by my parents and had a easymode life i would probably be kinda stuck up too.
but in general the convention isn't really worth it, besides seeing friends.
It's shit. Don't go.
i can't remember there being any dangan ronpa threads in a while, and since there's a new game and anime on the way i thought it'd be reasonable to make one.
so, does anyone have any plans? or, any cosplays you're currently working on? i'm almost done with a mahiru, and hoping to do some other stuff later this year too

How spooky is this? First, I was wondering "I wonder if the DR generals are gonna come back alive" about an hour ago. Then I started replaying SDR2 while in the bus today.
>>8839500
you're too powerful, anon. you need to stop before you indirectly bring something even worse back
>>8839495
2013 had a lot of DR cosplays. Nowadays almost anybody cosplay it.
[Until new game]
Anyone know any good metalworkers who make full-head masks?
Use the help thread.
considering buying or making a sentai mask for display purposes, anyone on here ever done this themselves? any tips?
Pepakura
'Nuff said
How about those that dont have pepakura?
Usually these are done by sculpting the whole thing, making a mold then a slush cast. Google it there's videos
Anyone got one of these? I know 99% of you are poorcucks, but still, looks like it'd be a good coat anyways.
So I ran GIS. Are you talking about the one on Sky-seller? Because they're pretty notorious for stealing cosplay photos to use on product pages. That's an instant red flag for me.

No idea how to do it,but that's pretty fucking neato
I didn't see one? Please sage if unneeded.
A draw thread, but this time for those too lazy to design/plan their own cosplays.
Or for if you want to show off a design for a cosplay/coord. Someone might even cosplay it.
Would one of you anons be kind enough to design me a gross amalgamation of all things cgl so I may cosplay seagull-tan.
They think their wigs are worth raising the price on them by $20 bucks.. The hologram wig was $69 last week now it's $89.. Hell all their wigs went overpriced. The "new" fibers suck compared to the older wigs. I know most of their wigs don't cost over $21 from their supplier. They've failed again! I would have bought something for a cosplay but I will buy somewhere else.
Other wig place suggestions?

Not lock shop either tho. I've he a rd it's gone down hill and the customer service has always been shit.
I haven't order one yet but I'm interested in dream holic from taobao. I also know there is a Japanese brand with more expensive wigs 6000 - 8000 yen but I don't really remember the name. Cecilia or something maybe?
>>8837411
I think you mean Cyperous. I've also heard nice reviews from Brightlele on Rakuten, but they also say their wig caps are pretty small.
Inspired by the What's In Your Bag thread, I'm starting to wonder..
What does /cgl/ think is essential to every cosplayer? What equipment should everyone have and learn to use?
A hot knife for cutting foam/plastic. It's like magic.
>>8837097
Set of big, long clear ruler, a small ruler (seam gauge), and French curve (or curved ruler).
Roll of spa/medical paper.
>>8837097
Just naming off the stuff that has helped greatly/saved my ass in a pinch at con itself. you can be surprised with what you can make due with, when options are limited.
Cordless hot glue gun
Double-sided tape
Safety pins
X-acto knife
Tide to-go spot pens
black/white thread with needles
Cheap hairspray ( seals body paint in a pinch)
Velcro of all sizes
Medical gauze ( For looks and for real injuries)
Pocket lint brush
Super Glue
Single serving of powdered chicken soup ( best hangover cure if you drink)
Equipment everyone should learn to use, or at least be familiar with:
Sandpaper/Power sander
Sewing machine
Dremel or other rotary tool
Good/Safe X-acto knife skills ( too many scars to count from that damn knife)
Any device that allows you to get 72 hours of rush work done 24 hours before you leave for the con.
To be honest, it all depends what kind of cosplay you are going to be doing mostly.
Doing alot of armor/props? Power tools are involved 50-75% of the time
Doing alot of dresses/custom clothing? prepare to love/hate the sewing machine.
I would say, at the bare minimum, you should get your hands on a sewing machine. Find a old, metal one that can do a shitload of layers at once, if possible. If you have a sewing shop in town, these can be found for under 75 bucks.
The biggest tool to learn how to use is your head. Taking time to plan/pattern out a cosplay can save you a shitload of time/money in the future.
Best place to buy inexpensive off-brand/replica lolita?
I have no plans of becoming a hard core lolita, or whatever, but some of it would be cute in a normal wardrobe.
fuck off, casual
Take it from a lolita, it won't look cute. A lot of lolita looks cute because they're styled lolita, if you removed all the lolita-ness you'd just end up with a frumpy baggy skirt made with way too much fabric to look good.
Go on the taobao thread and find normie cute shit instead, that usually works out much better.

Thanks for the advice, and I'll be sure to do that! I guess I'm mostly curious about shoes, since some of them are so cute but wayyy to pricey to be worn on a regular basis.
