Taking a page from the cosplay thread, how has lolita helped you improve your life?
I have less money and self esteem.
Frill life chose me
For all your cosplay and j-fash questions.
Old thread is auto saging.
I don't know a lot about worbla but superglue/moment glue as last choice should work, that shit should cure instantly but is very hard to remove in case you ever want to
same, moment glue should work. as for stuffing just do the three bra trick suggested on here all the time, should give enough filling
Let's just get right to the point, share the best and the worst lolita dress-up games. Go!
Man oh man I love these threads
to start we made an ita for world goth day tomorrow <3 fayyyngz
Hands down, Bonnie Games makes the best dressup games
I want to hear your stories.
I'll start with mine, but I'll warn you that they're not very interesting really.
>con is in close proximity to a Pentecostal ministry event
>fleeting eye contact with conservative, also oddly dressed (in their own way) families
>mothers with children and gruff fathers with handlebar mustaches are constantly scowling
>moms shielding their kids' eyes
>refusing to be in the same elevator
...I wasn't even cosplaying.
>chilling at a starbucks in a hotel lobby
>12-14ish looking teenage boy in a backwards cap trying to be hard
>asks me what's with the getup
>"This is a themed event."
>asks me if I'm gay
>tell him to fuck off
>comes back with his mom
>I tell her to fuck off too
>and then the other customers and employees clapped and my name was albert einstein. Nah, just kidding. She was just like "Well I never" while I death glared at her much like the families mentioned in story #1 until they left.
>outside of a bar with friends, waiting for our Uber
>indignant "Are you fucking gay?" bullshit
>this one is notable because the person saying this shit shit was a disgusting, unattractive neckbeardy type
>blamed us for the Uber taking too long
It's halloween night dude what the fuck. You're old enough to drink, and this was in 2014, we live in southern california, and you're still acting like this.
Weird little exchange from about a week ago. Some nutter wanted to play "dog catcher," I guess.
>Riding the bus home and I'm wearing nanchatte
>Pretty quiet, not many people on thank goodness
>Minding my own business dicking around on my phone when I notice this older lady giving me the nastiest stink eye
>Ignore her initially, no biggie, people stare. But then I look back up and she's still looking dead at me
>Great, I've managed to attract the attention of a crazy person and this is probably the tamest I've dressed all week
>"Why aren't you in school?"
>"I said, WHY. AREN'T. YOU IN SCHOOL?"
>This smug nutcase thinks she busted some kid playing hooky
>I'm twenty-six, ma'am.
The fuck did she think she was gonna do had I have actually been some kid? Creep.
Tips, selfpost and more, you can post it here!
I want more followers, I like my photos but can't get new followers or more favs so I want advice/tips, please.
That you like them unfortunately doesn't mean that other people will also like your photos.
If you do it for the followers: try to find out what content gets the most attention and is liked most, then do more of that. Use the right hashtags.
If you want more specific concrit, post your IG or some of your photos, and we can tell you what you could improve.
Make sure you're tagging appropriately. Spamming irrelevant tags is not only useless but puts people off liking or following.
Interact with users you like. I mean, be genuine about it, don't just spam "kawaiiii" on all of their photos, but little interactions can make someone interested in your insta, especially if you're nice.
Also don't go onto someone's profule and like the last 50 photos they've posted, I have two people who keep doing that every month or so and even if I was interested in their instas, doing that would put me off completely because it's so attention grabby.
Bottom line: tag appropriately, take clear photos, interact with others, and stay away from desperate behavior or follow4follow shit.
>don't go onto someone's profile and like the last 50 photos they've posted
oh gosh, I pretty much do this to people when i follow them for the first time because i genuinely like what they've posted.
ITT: lolita sewing and shit
has anyone seen the new OnS? the shapes are all stupid boxy.
I have some designs for some print dresses drafted, but I want dark colours. Is anywhere similarly priced to spoonflower but can manage a good black ink? (I'm in the UK so options shipping to the UK/locally are preferred)
Can you guys help me find more like pic related? I love the simple yet feminine, elegant but cute look that japanese fashion has mastered so well.
Inspiration as well as stores would be appreciated <3
Wonder Rocket is great but if theres anything similar in the US even better because lord knows i dont have the wallet for that kind of shipping
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this
Do you want earth colors, or do you like pastels as well? Do you have more reference photos?
I love cute and feminine clothing, but there's many ways to do it. I've decided to go with Larme kei. It's really feminine and more on the mature side of things, but cute nonetheless
larp thread, previous one in autosage, etc etc
also, larp tip of the day
>Undead are, by and large, losers who got killed. Not scary.
let's talk about buying cosplay materials.
>where do you gulls like to buy items like fabrics and embellishments?
>are there any uncommon places you like to frequent?
common sources (for US gulls, at least):
I feel like Joann's is good for people who are still beginners and aren't accustomed to different types of fabric yet. If I can avoid it I do, shit is a lot more cheaper online but it's always a gamble.
I get a majority of stuff from Spandex House, Dharma Trading, and fabric.com. But I do like Joann's because I don't need to order swatches and wait.
An uncommon place I visit is 5 Below for eva foam. The have these kid yoga mats for $5 that are around 8cm thick.
Walmart has spray paint and other hardware basics for cheap. Dollar tree has foam core but it's really only good for structural stuff to them cover and fill with expanding foam, spackle or bondo. Goodwill and thrift stores can have super random stuff like rolls of foam and tools. Also my preferred place for shoes and boots since I can't justify buying new shoes for cosplay unless they're super versatile. Randomly a lot of smoke shops carry basic colored lenses
Joanns 5 for $5 Simplicity and other pattern sales are the only good cheap way to get patterns. If you need it sooner and you know what you need most are ebay and etsy for $4-6.
>All J-fash styles (lolita, mori, otome, gyaru, deco, etc.) are welcome!
>Cosplay is discouraged, because then it's basically fanart of your character.
>Please provide your best photos.
>Artists: it's not a bad idea to just sign your work
>Selfposters: When giving credit, it's a good idea to refer to the art as a freebie or commission, NOT fanart.
>Helpful critique is acceptable, insults and taunts are not.
>You should actually be wearing your coord, not "Draw me in X!"
MGSV thread! Interested in seeing some good bionic arm props and tutorials for them.
What's a secret you have that, if it ever got out, would absolutely tarnish or ruin your reputation in the cosplay or lolita community?
Ever lie about making part of a costume to win a contest? Purposely ruin someone's burando?
It doesn't even have to be related, if you once stabbed a guy in a dark alley or did scat porn your comm would likely not look on that too kindly. Fess up.
I'm pretty sure I'd be blacklisted from my comm and other local ones if they found out how often I cap the stupid shit they say and spread it around the rest of the internet. I do this all the time too. Drama is so fun.
Anyone on the board going to AMA? I've never been before but I'm going for that Saturday. Seems small-ish from what I can tell.
Last I went was years ago, I was thinking of going with a friend this year and saw the $60 at-the-door price... anons, is it really worth it? Looking at the site, it doesn't seem much bigger, and it was the tiniest con I've been to.
No. It's always dead and tiny every single year. I've been going since 2009 and it hasn't grown an inch. It's fun because I like seeing my friends and there are lots of young cosplayers there and it's nice to see little weeks just enjoying themselves. I end up by the hotel bar each year drinking with the parents. It's fun, but not with 60 dollars. I got my ticket through their Groupon deal for like 25 bucks.
Didn't see one in the catalog.
I'm interested in the fashion, and I would love to see inspiration photos.
ILD is on Saturday. What's your plans?
Does /cgl/ have plans?
My comm looks like its fighting again so theres two ILD meet ups. ill be traveling around on ILD and im not close to fluent in the target language so i think ill dress up and post a picture to instagram. Even if i was home with my regular comm both the meets sound messy or like something i wouldn't enjoy.
i was going to dress up to meet the comm closest to me finally (been in the fb group for like a year) but they're a $40 ferry ride away and im poor so instead i'm just going to put something on for 10 minutes and instagram it so i can pretend i celebrated
