Let's try and not get the thread deleted this time.
Showing boobs in general for gaining popularity?
I don't know what to think about this.
In one hand, I admire girls that don't give a fuck about showing their body, but at the same time, I think is so trashy to show them just to achieve your goals faster, aka the easy way.
For example, I have followed girls that started doing nice cosplays but at some point, they had the need to do "sexy versions" of character in order to gain popularity. Or this Patreon trend of 'give me your money and you'll see me almost naked'.
I feel like this topic is going to get the thread deleted no matter what.

I agree with this. If the cheracter is already pretty revealed or sexy I'm fine. But people trying to do the Nigri thing is down right annoying. But it works. It gets them attention they want. But you really had to go the level of revealing more skin just to get more noticed is quite sad. Yeah it worked for Nigri but she also did it in a time when it wasn't all over the place. It's like 1% of people or less get to nigri's level of popularity. I would t say fame since she's only famous in a niche group of people and can walk out to the store without paparazzi on her every move. But the same can be said about gaming and MLG. Ever since e-sports became more noticed, people think they can turn that into a career when it's only 1% that actually make it.
I'm working on an Eruka cosplay, and it's really putting me in a Soul Eater mood, so let's have a thread!

Is that a woman as Stein or just a man with a feminine face?
I just went to Anime Mid-Atlantic over the past weekend as Stein and there were a few other Soul Eater cosplayers there. I'll post what pics I know of.
Almost 2 weeks away. Any Gulls attending?
I may be headed up. No guarantees of yet. Never been before, any draws/things to stay away from?
what are seagulls/gulls? lol

Do you think its possible for a con's reputation to tank or do poorly despite the fact the con itself does everything right?
Sac Anime is looked down here and the community. However the con draws good guests, runs on time, getting information is easy, badges and other registration areas run smoothly.
On paper the con should be doing decently or at least looked favorably upon. Some of the best cons out there are the best due to the fact that con staff doesn't shit itself and just provides a pleasant experience.
Sac Anime appears to be doing just that and goes above and beyond in certain areas yet no one seems to care about it. Why so?
Because it's a local con that mostly just brings in local people, which, if you know Sacramento and the central valley, isn't saying much.
It's kind of the opposite of fanime, which will always do well despite the con itself being an utter trainwreck. Despite the con itself, fanime brings in a lot of people, parties, socializing, and fun times that are not dependent on the con itself. Sacanime is the opposite of that.
If it can get itself out of this rut and somehow attract attendees other that 15-year-old's-from-tumblr, I can see it becoming a little more like fanime and a little more fun.
>>9066711
how would sac do that? It seems it does a lot of things that fanime programming does (minus 24 hour con hours) pairing with timely updates and staff that is not super pants on head stupid.
It seems like a lot of issues that sac anime has: young people, tumblr tier panels etc. would be fixed simply if more older people entered.
No one wants to go to Sacramento. That's going to be its main problem til the end of time
ITT: popular lolitas bitch about problems centered around their popularity.
>people I don't know thinking that we're friends just because they follow me online, even though we don't speak
>sometimes newbs are awkward AF around me and some have even gone so far as to call me senpai the first time I speak to them
>there is always at least one jelly sandwich that throws me massive shade at meets anytime I show up in something rare and/or pricey
>people trying to be friends for the sake of becoming popular themselves or because they think I'll buy them shit
>>9065941
that's the price of popularity. get used to it.
>>9065950
Or maybe people should stop using people's efame as justification to be shitty?
Don't make fan pages about yourself.
Keep your SM sites private.
Only friend lolitas who you have met before.
Limit what you post on the SM sites.
Post feels. They can be happy, sad, whatever. As long as they're cgl related.

I was so excited for Anime Blues Con, but then my dog died. Some rando ran him over. I don't wanna go to con now.

My very first lolita dress arrived!
>tfw holy shit how do I coord
I'm getting really frustrated waiting for NYCC to announce their ticket sales, even though I know it's going to be a chaotic clusterfuck, and I'll be lucky to get even one day pass again.
The whole con has become a mess, but I've just gotten so old, and don't find traveling 3+ hours to other cons and/or having to stay overnight fun anymore. I still love making cosplays, but I hate the lack of local opportunities to show them off.
I really want to work on a new costume, but if I can't get tickets, I feel like all of the work would be for nothing, as it's pretty much the only con I go to nowadays. I suppose I would end up with one extra snazzy Halloween costume though, so that's a possible consolation?
Hi
I'm a beginner cosplayer, only did casual cosplay, but want to do Ramsay Bolton.
The issue is, I don't know how to make or even call the pieces of his costume. For start I want to make the thing he wears under the vest.
I thought it was some kind of gambeson, but those are too thick.
Could someone point me in the right direction please?
Also GoT cosplay general
It looks like some sort of gambeson, but obviously not period accurate thickness. I'd make the basic shape out of at least two layers of fabric and then carefully do the quilting. Quilting on the sleeves is best done while the sleeve is flat. It looks like the gambeson laces up the front and there's a light weight undershirt/collar under that, but it's hard to tell from the pic.
I'm planning on a Brienne cosplay for a con in the fall. I have a friend who does a pretty good Robb Stark that I might drag along with me.
A possible issue is that I'm 5'6" whereas her actress is around 6'3". But screw it, I'm not going to let 9 inches stop me from dressing up as my waifu..

Spooky cosplay stories?
I'll start
> went to con 2 years ago
> saw a realistic looking bubble-head nurse cosplay
> takes picture of her
> fewhourslater.jpg
> she's not in the fucking picture
> ask around to see if anyone saw her
> no one saw her except me and my friend
This shit still spooked me out till today.
A friend and I went to a convention but our hotel was about 10 miles away. Really small, really quiet and near an old neighborhood.
There weren't many people in the hotel, maybe 4 or 5 other parties.
The first night we turned out the lights and went to bed since we had to get up rather early for the public transportation to Downtown.
All night we kept waking up to the sound of someone running up and down the halls. We peeked out and no one was there.
When we closed the door and got back in bed, the running happened again but this time we heard talking and a giggle.
All night we heard running then knocking, then we heard the running coming from upstairs.
The next night, as soon as we turned off the light in our bathroom, we heard someone running past our room again.
I was already pretty scared so I asked if we could leave the bathroom light on and just crack the door, which we did. When the light was on, we didn't hear anything but the moment it turned off is when we'd hear footsteps.
It could of just been other rooms echoing, pipes, all sorts of things, but in the moment, we were pretty freaked out.
>>9062703
Mind if I ask the hotel name and area? Love that kind of thrill.
How does everyone feel about this?
I for one want the sweet embrace of death.
Why NYX? Why?

This is hell
Will she ever make a return into the anime fandom and cosplay/convention world?
Or maybe not?
Last thing I've heard her do was hold a dance school in Connecticut.
Your thoughts?
She is gonna be up here in Alaska at Senshi-con this fall.
http://senshicon.org/jessica-nigri/
What was her connection to cosplay?
>>9050932
Apollo Smile.... She was a voice actor in the 90's who did dubs for Central Park Media and Manga Corps I believe. Lots of OVAs and anime movies. She also learned Japanese and did some work overseas.
She billed herself as "The Real Life Anime Girl" and did panels at conventions, and martial arts demonstrations. She even tried to do a comic; holy shit, the art was horrible. If you think the shit on the ass end of Deviantart is something, you've yet to see that comic.
Some dirt on her revealed that she was a pop singer whose only time in the spotlight was that of her song Dune Buggy being in a Tom Cruise movie, and that it was really popular for convention goers back then to bash her as a sign of being a "true anime fan".
She's a really interesting but really tragic case.

So this was a Cards Against Humanity play in the gulls.co server and that got a lot of us wanting a drawn picture of a /cgl/tan getting bitchy with /fa/tan, who are both in coords, because /fa/ only bought lolita just to have sex in to spite /cgl/tan

If /fit/ isn't taking /fa/'s dick up his ass i'm starting a riot.

what do the tans look like do you have a ref of them
(i read all of these and a lot of them had me laughing)
I was asked to pose with this spidergwen at Megacon Orlando in May. She had a semi pro photographer but didn't give me a card. Anyone kown who this is?
Generic girl with red hair and a pre bought costume posing with generic man and pre bought costume. Waste of a photographer

So I made this giant Chaos Space Marine armor over the past year and I'm planning to compete in a pretty big cosplay competition next month. What do you guys think? Am I fucked or does it look good enough to win anything? Constructive criticism is always welcome. :)
here's a picture of me wearing only half the armor so you can kinda see the size of it. I'm about 5'8 tall without the giant shoes, and roughly 6'6 with everything on.
That's very impressive! Is it hard to move around in? I'd say you have a pretty good shot at winning something.
>>9065845
It's a bit clunky to move. I wont be running any marathons in it, but I think a slow, lumbering walk suits the costume anyway.
Also, thanks for the kind words!
