It's time for some LJ nostalgia.
Share your favourite lolita blogs, favourite EGL posts, pics, groups you miss (angry_lace,wtf_burando,...)
Those halcyon days before stupid_free and sf_drama were over-run with sjws.
Oh, and I miss lolita_fucks. And badmakeup. And fanficrants. And McTabby and summary executions. And a whole lot of other stuff that couldn't happen now anyway because we're all too fucking 'sensitive' these days.
But why are people so against using livejournal nowadays? I don't have any issues using it on my cellphone. Instead of a thread like this, why not make a wtf burando post on egl if you miss it so much? Is it a patience issue, because it takes a while for egl to have new posts and comments?
There has already been multiple attempts by nostalgic gulls to bring back LJ, but it never works. Personally, I think people remember the LJ days in heavily rose tinted glasses. The lolcows were better and I think the sales comm was superior to everything we have now for BST, but that's about it. The posts on EGL were mostly pretty cried or boring, save for some useful information and translations.
I really wanna do a shrek cosplay. Any thoughts?
I really want to see Shrek the Musical. I heard its fucking hilarious. Especially Faquad.
What do you hate to do but it's necessary and you can't skip past it? Tell us your hatred of sewing, prop making, dressing up, etc.
I hate sewing, but most of that seems to just be because I have a shitty Singer Inspiration sewing machine that jams almost all the time so 50% of my time spent sewing something is spent fixing the machine and unthreading things.
I have a Singer Inspiration and I thought this was normal. It's my first sewing machine, though.
On topic though, I hate sewing trim. I love having trim on things but I don't like the actual process of putting it there.
Hey guys, I'm relatively new to this board. I've done cosplay before, but as a fat guy, i have trouble finding choosing characters to do. I'm starting this thread in the hopes that you guys can make suggestions on fat/big guy characters. Image related-thinking of doing roadhog.
OP I know you're asking for fat/big guy characters to cosplay, but as a fellow fat guy let me say this first. Cosplay who you want whether they're fat or not. That's what I do. I'm sure many on /cgl/ would disagree with that, but I cosplay for myself not others, but if you feel the need to cosplay fat guys regardless I'll drop you some suggestions here.

/cgl/, do you keep your cosplaying separate from your professional life? Do your coworkers know you cosplay? Do they care?
I'm in a bit of a pickle. Back when I was young and dumb, I didn't properly separate my art galleries and my cosplay presence, so now when you google image search my name a whole bunch of cosplay shit from pinterest pops up. I've messaged the owners of the pinterest boards asking them to remove my name and just leave my handle, but I have no idea if any of them will even respond, let alone take my name off.
I'm currently job hunting (I'm a graphic designer for reference), so I'm trying to sanitize my online presence as much as possible. My facebook is already private, but is there anything else I can do? Am I doomed to always have potential employers googling me and finding my ass in spandex?
Pic related, my face when I realized exactly what comes up when you google me.
You can try to get them removed as copyright violations. Not sure how effective this is on Pinterest but it wouldn't hurt to try.
I'm a lolita, but the theory still applies. I have completely separate accounts and names for my j-fashion and real life stuff, and I only post pictures of myself on j-fashion accounts if I'm wearing a wig and heavy enough makeup that it wouldn't be easily recognizable as me unless you were looking for it.
My workplace couldn't care less though. My supervisor does art in her spare time and at least one of my coworkers is a huge comic book/videogame geek so the environment is pretty weird to begin with.
I do try to keep my cosplay life separate from my professional life, but when coworkers ask questions about what I'm doing when I get time off for a con I usually just end up telling them. I'm fortunate enough that they think that my cosplaying is really cool! They don't know the alias I use for cosplay so they can't look through all of my photos, but they always ask to see pictures from conventions and get really excited about it.
OP, I'm also a graphic designer, and I think your experience is going to vary depending on where you're looking at working. A creative firm might care less than a corporate entity, depending on who's doing the hiring. Creative fields draw lots of people with unconventional hobbies or interests, so it may be a nonissue even if they decide to Google your name.
OP, I know how you feel.
I can't find a job because I've done a lot of cosplay as well as nude which is all over the internet and has been spread by many.
Same thing as you, just google my name and it's there.
And I'm not even trying to do anything on a professional level.
A local Sheetz wouldn't hire me due to finding the images then ended up sharing them even more with the co-workers.
I can't even show my face in there anymore.

New gyaru thread! Let's try it again...
>are both secret pages finally dead?
>what do you think about the new YouTube channel of BD?
Also to be a little positive
>post your top 4 of the gyaru hashtag on instagram
My top 4 of the gyaru hashtag on insta. It was damn hard to find gyaru among all these cosplay weebs
I know it's a stupid question but am I allowed to tan and get into kuro if I'm white ? I don't plan on getting super dark, I just want a cute golden tan
Also what are your favorite tanning products ?? (I'm ghost white...)
Old ones is long dead

Most of our feels threads are negative.
Let's have a good feels thread!
Did you just get your dream dress? Feel awesome about photos you got back from your photoshoot? Any good con experiences that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside whenever you think about them?
Keep it /cgl/ related and lets share those good feelings!
My boyfriend's been in college since before we were dating. He's always felt awful about not being able to earn much money as a student and not being able to pay for a lot of our dates or buy me gifts as expensive as the ones I got him. I assured him it was okay and fast forward to this year when he's finally a graduate who landed a good job almost immediately after finishing school. Mfw my birthday comes around and he surprises me by buying my dream dress. It cost more than anything I've ever bought him and he's never gifted me burando before and I just ...
10 days and counting! Guidebook goes live soon too. Or may have already gone live, not on top of it.

The store isn't in the spreadsheet, so I thought I'd ask here: does Avenue Denfer do custom sizing?
I'm absolutely head over heels in love with this dress, but I couldn't for the likes of me find anything about custom sizing (since they put all their text on picture so can't google translate). Help a whale-loving gull out?
If I started an order yesterday, paid the first payment today (item cost + domestic shipping), and then had it shipped by SAL, is it likely to arrive before Halloween?
It's mu-fish's rose cross bag and a pair of infanta bloomers, so a small order but I know the bag is big. I'm using taobao ring and have never bought from taobao before but lurked in these threads for a while

They're obviously fakes but I've gotten all these and they're great quality and good just to bulk out gifts or throw into a plushie pile

I just went organizing crazy. Here are pouches all for under $1. The black mesh ones are 'stroller bags', I got a bunch to attach to clothes hangers to hold accessories when I pre-plan full outfits.
Also got some clothes hangers for my dog.

ITT: newbie tier questions for cgl related things
Can someone give me examples of shit-tier satin and decent-tier satin* ribbons on lolita dresses? Just by looking at pictures, I find it kind of hard to decide whether the used material for ribbons is rather shit or not. I know that decent quality ribbons are not supposed to be shiny. But does this also apply when I take a picture of a dress using the camera's flashlight f.e.? Is good quality sation supposed to be dull regardless from the light used?
Random pic related for example. Are these red ribbions made of shit-tier satin?
*Implying satin isn't an all over shitty material for lolita regardless of the quality
What's a good shade of blonde for those with darker skin? Wanting to cosplay pic related, but I'm afraid of it looking shitty since my skin is naturally tan.
>I know that decent quality ribbons are not supposed to be shiny.
All of the ribbon on my AP dresses is shiny like your picture. I don't know about good vs. bad satin but I'm pretty sure all satin is gonna be shiny.
