>Ignore shitposts and attention whores. Attention is what they want, so let's not give them any.
>Defending yourself on /cgl/ only makes things worse. Best is to not take things posted here seriously and just move on.
>Posts made in Dutch are against the global rules and will be removed.
>Posting WIP pictures is still encouraged
>Also a special thanks to OP, you are the real mvp.
Thanks anon, it's nice to see these Dutch Threads still being an active thing after all this time. Honestly I never imagined these threads would be here for this long and it's great I've found a new outlet after the gaming clan I co-ran died after 6 years.
And on the subject of thanking people, a huge shout out to Prop-Anon for contentiously posting WIP shots and sharing her knowledge with us. You really inspired me to get serious with my own crafting, which is refreshing after being told "don't bother, you'll never be able to make anything decent" by certain cosplayers in the past.
Another shout-out goes to Schedule-chan. I feel like you making your presence known changed most of our mindless bashing into actual feedback. The same also goes for the con staff members/volunteers, keep up the good work and I'll be bound to bump into you without you even knowing who I am.
And yet another shout-out goes to the mysterious Tully-anon for introducing us to Tully and everything Huis Ten Bosch. Having our own mascot does make things easier whenever I'm out of OP images.
The final shout-out goes to the rest of you! Without you these threads would had never been here for this long and quite boring to say the least. Let's keep it up and I'll see you at the next meet!
Happy new year everyone, who's going this weekend?
Something bothering you from this past year? Vent it here and start 2017 with a clean slate! Keep it /cgl/ related, of course.
>Bad con/meet you wish you'd skipped?
>Something shitty that happened that you just can't shake?
>Something you're excited about upcoming in 2017?
>Night before a big con earlier this year
>Staying over at best friend's house
>We'll call her Umaru, which was her cosplay
>Lives with her parents still
>Closer to con anyways and free, good enough for me
>Working on finishing touches on cosplays
>Other best friend comes over to goof off and help
>We'll call her Spooky
>Spooky is about to leave so she can get rest before the con
>Umaru goes downstairs to get her mom to lock up one of their dogs
>This dog in particular is extremely hostile and HUGE
>Spooky is upstairs waiting behind a barrier they have on the stairs
>I'm in the other room sewing
>Umaru is playing around with the dog
>Dog leaps over barrier and heads straight for Spooky
>Spooky gets badly bitten.
>Umaru's sister barely pulls dog off of her
>Dog gets put in other room
>I go to see what's going on
>Spooky standing in the doorway of Umaru's room, bleeding all over the hall, holding her arm, shirt torn
>Umaru looking panicked trying to hide Spooky from the dog
>Umaru's mom starts freaking out
>Spooky takes it like a champ, not crying or anything while she has huge holes in her arm
>Spooky calls one of her nearby friends to drive her to the hospital
>Umaru Mom helps Spooky outside while her friend pulls up
>I'm standing at the top of the stairs with Umaru
>Umaru breaks down
>We rush outside trying to follow Spooky
>Umaru Mom passes by on her way back inside
>Blames Umaru completely
>Says it's her fault Spooky got hurt
>Umaru loses it and collapses on the sidewalk sobbing
>Umaru Mom goes back inside
>I stay outside with Umaru trying to get a hold of the situation
>Around an hour later we head back in
>Go clean up Spooky's blood, that's when it sinks in
>Umaru Mom decides it's time for Round 2, screams at Umaru again
>Umaru Mom treasures that godforsaken dog, still blames her own daughter instead
>I decide that's more than enough and have an exchange of my own with Umaru's mom
>She leaves in a huge fuss
>Umaru starts crying more, thanking me
>Tell her we're getting out of there
>We grab our shit and hop in my car
>Head up to my place for the time being
>Going to be worse of a drive the next day but better than being around Umaru Mom
>Try to get in contact with Spooky
>She's fine, got stitches, but she's not gonna make it to the con tomorrow
>We're just glad nothing major got injured
>We finish up our shit during the night and morning
>Heavy gloom over us the next day but the con is alright
>Spooky decides to go the next day for a few hours
>She worked really hard on her cosplay and wanted to wear it
>At least her arm bandages match the cosplay
>We hang out for a while, Umaru acts kinda weird
>Umaru and I go to a meetup afterwards and she seems happier
>I end up getting sick from the heat and we head back early, Umaru is bummed
>We stay in contact afterwards for a while, try to make plans for more cons
>Umaru fades out, stops replying
>Spooky and I get worried
>We try to contact her
>Poor Spooky, Umaru still has one of her brand shirts
>Umaru blocked us on everything she had us on
>I've known Umaru since the 6th grade, feel completely heartbroken
>Spooky hasn't known Umaru as long but was still really close with her
>Spooky is trying to be as chill and supportive as she can be, even though it's obvious she's been seriously affected from the dog attack
>Later in the year, Spooky and I go to a con
>Ironically, I'm borrowing the same cosplay she wore to the first con while she's wearing a cosplay I bought for her from the same series
>After months of complete silence, guess who we bump into at the con?
>It's Umaru, still wearing the same cosplay
Sounds like things are blowing up in the Arizona cosplay community over a recent change for volunteering at 2017 Phoenix Comicon.
From what I gathered it sounds like anyone who wants to volunteer has to become a member of the Blue Ribbon Army, which costs $20 for the lowest level membership. Keep in mind that this does not guarantee you a Volunteer position.
Many people think that this is a shady deal. Staff responded that this is being done because they had a lot of Volunteers run off with their free pass and not actually work. This new rule change will weed out the people who won't commit to the work.
Can it come of as scummy? Yes, but they're trying to avoid being sued like other large for profit cons that don't pay 'wages'. Too soon to say what will happen but I've been to other cons that use the funds to buy better/more food for the volunteers.

Depends on the guest. Some guests i just suck it up, some i put a sign up saying i'm gone until X time bye. A couple hundred bucks (if even because sometimes people do just come back) is nothing if the guest is for example usually never goes to cons and may never return and this might be the only chance to meet them / get an autograph
Looks like A-kon is switching to a full jury this year. Hopefully they'll be clear about what their criteria is; they've always been damn organized and open in the past.
I've had a few years of experience doing anime oriented cons, but next year will be my first comic con artist alley. I'm wondering if any of you guys here have some insight on the customer base, if it's any different in spending trends, prices, items offered, etc? From just guessing I would assume there is some overlap between the two crowds.
Less than three weeks away. Time to crack down on cosplays!
Big plans, excitement for guests, or more of the usual? There's a bunch of Disney animators slated for appearance this time around and VAs from Beauty and the Beast, too.
>and a question:
I'm going to be driving in and staying at the Sheraton for the first time - anyone have suggestions on parking for three days? Or is the most efficient option to use the hotel garage for ~$60 over the weekend?
This was me at SACANIME back in september... i entered the contest and lost... and utter shit won instead... i will never be caught dead to that shit fest of a con.. ive been to many and sac anime has got to be the worst fuckin con ive ever witnessed... SO IF YOURE A COSPLAYER AND SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON YOUR COSPLAY DO NOT GO TO THIS CON IT IS ABSOLUTE SHIT YOU WILL BE VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Yeah I was in the masquerade and don't remember you at all. Summer had a lot of good costumes so I don't feel bad for your salty ass. Also buy a wig next time.
I'm skipping this one, money didn't come together for any of my group like it usually does and we decided to say fuck it. Summer is usually more than winter anyway.
It's time for that Alice dress again!
Post ugly dresses. Meta is cheating but I'll allow it.
Even though I love it, Time Lag World isn't beautiful.

A wardrobe thread for all j-fashions!
Post items you're trying to match, styles you want to get into and help other seagulls build the basics.
Some questions to get the thread going:
What styles do you like?
What style would you like to wear or currently wear?
What basic items do you swear by?
Do you like the idea of a capsule wardrobe or have one already?
Quality or quantity?
Info on capsule wardrobes:
>What styles do you like?
Lolita, otome, larme and if art teacher-kei was a thing
>What style would you like to wear or currently wear?
Currently have a lolita and otome wardrobe that I haven't touched in over a year. Looking at trying out larme as it seems more day-to-day friendly (plus living in a hot, humid climate has really worn me down) but looking professional/finishing my degree is making me second guess my buying atm.
>What basic items do you swear by?
-Long dresses made by any of the lolita brands and JM, basic tea length petticoat
-Good leather shoes and bags
-Unique or antique jewelery- pic related
>Do you like the idea of a capsule wardrobe or have one already?
I want to make one and made this thread so I can find out what problems people have had whilst building one.
>Quality or quantity?
Used to be quantity but since Marie Kondo-ing my apartment, I'm looking at moving to quality
Posting some pics and inspo
Just multiple items worn in different ways
Thought about picking up pic related from therpc studio, also their take on the insomniac spider man for PS4 looks really good and is second in the running, has anyone bought a suit from the RPCStudio? If so how'd it turn out? Also are faceshells worth it or should I just get the lenses sewn onto the mask?
Also post yer spidey cosplays everyone
imo, faceshells look much better. There's someone in my area that does custom face shells and his Spidey cosplay is one of the better ones that I've seen. The ones with the lenses sewn onto the mask always end up looking kind of wonky
