Is it me, or did that 'Comic Con Europe' in Rotterdam just came out of nowhere? I see it has the same organisation as CCA, which I heard mixed opinions about.
Wonder how itll go down. Will probably go myself.

Now that 2016 is over and done, what was the most popular cosplayed series of 2016, anime/game/western? How about 2015 or 2014?

Same here, there's a lot of cute designs to choose from. Though it came out late in the year so maybe there just hasn't been enough time yet?
Overwatch, Pokemon, and maybe Yuri On Ice seemed to be most popular this year

There's a fuckton of conventions in Ohio, as we're finding out from the Ohayocon thread. I'm curious how good you think they are.
Ohio gulls, rank the following conventions from best to worst:
Ohayocon, Colossalcon, Matsuricon, Glass City Con, Shumatsucon, Animatic Con, A&G Ohio, Anime Punch, YoiCon, Midoricon, Kabochacon.

Note: I've omitted cons on college campuses, cons that No longer operate, or any cons that haven't had a first year yet. Feel free to throw in any I forgot about.

Colossalcon as anon says it leans super hard on its location. The con it self is garbage. The staff is even hotter garbage. The cosplays are meh and repetitive. The location is pretty good. The attendees are amazing.

I'm thinking of selling my barely worn Automatic Honey Witch Academy series ring in navy, which I bought new for $26 in the MTO. Navy was only available in the MTO, not the initial pre-order.

I checked LM and AH rings (from other series and from the witch academy series) have sold from anywhere between $25 to $60. I'm not sure if some series/colorways are more sought after, people are just letting go of things for cheaper, or if some series were just more expensive on their initial pricing.

If I can get $50 I'll take it but I'm not trying to be greedy, and I'm guessing MTO items are probably not quite as sought after than items that people go through a bloodbath for, but Im not really sure.

I am probably overthinking this lol

I've been going for the past two years. Its a pretty shit con that most of the Vegas community just chills at. Rave always has drunks from Planet Hollywood who don't know what the con is but still wanna party. If you have low expectations and friends going then its a pretty chill con.

Old Thread >>9094080

This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. Boystyle refers to the masculine counterparts of lolita and aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. So, consider this a thread for those whose style is on the right half of Buttcape's Lolita Family Triangle: http://www.kawacura.com/moripress/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/0dmmLH6-350x350.jpg

How do you budget for your cosplay or jfash hobbies?

How much do you think you spend per month? Per year?

Do you limit how much you buy/spend? Has that limit increased or decreased since you've started?

Have you neglected to pay for something else essential so you can pay for a cosplay/jfash item?

For jfash people, do you tend to buy new releases or second hand? How do you decide if you're going to buy a new release?

For cosplay people, how much of your budget goes toward construction vs. convention, photography, or other related costs?

>>
I cosplay and I'm getting into lolita and I'm trying to reign in my desire to buy everything as I build my wardrobe. Right now, I'm sort of buying pieces as I see them second hand, but I'd like to get a better handle on how much I'm spending on my wardrobe.

For cosplay, I only go to 2 or 3 cons per year and the costs are usually low because the badges aren't very expensive and I stay with friends. I usually make 1 or 2 new cosplays and then bring an old one. None of my cosplays have gone above $300 though, so its a cost I'm comfortable with throughout the year.
>>
>>9318324
I'm on the jfashion side but not a Lolita. I spent around $5000 in 2016 out of pocket (basically what gets charged to my credit card and comes out of my bank account). That's increased since I first started but has been reasonably steady over the last couple years.
This doesn't include shipping or second hand buys which I only pay for out of my paypal balance which I maintain by doing my own secondhand sales and other online activity, so I don't really count that.
My flexible monthly budget for non-PayPal balance transactions is usually around $300 but obviously there are exceptions for special releases/fukubukuro or if I travel to Japan where I budget separately for expenses.
I've never really gone over that for multiple months in a row without a special occasion and usually am under budget. I mostly buy new items bc I don't want to regret missing a print or item and I don't want to pay scalper prices later.
>>
I go to cons but I don't cosplay or wear jfash. I'm a student and while I don't have a job at the moment, I don't have a student loan, I live with my parents and I'm granted a scholarship because my family is really poor and disadvantaged. So when I go to cons, usually the local one, I try to spend at most 100€ during the whole con, in merchandises and sometimes food that can't be bought outside of the con, unless you want to buy it online but it would be overpriced. Sometimes I feel guilty whenever I want a figurine that costs 30€ or 40€ so I don't buy it and spend the money on overpriced food because I'm a dumbass.
I'm planning on going to the biggest con of the country, it would cost me way more than that so I have to save money and find a job during the holiday before it takes place.

Honestly; as much as I love anime, manga, video games and cons, those are relatively expansive hobbies and I often feel guilty about indulging in them. It sucks, so maybe I should stop spend money on these things until I'm done with college and have an actual job and a decent income.

I've never heard about this manga but I might read it if I have enough free time. I immediately thought of a manga called Fujoshi Rumi (in the north American official translation at least). It doesn't talk as much about cosplay than about doujins, fujos and cons but it's really fun. It even has scenes about people starting shit on some of the characters on 2ch, with shitposting and vendettas.
>>
I don't cosplay, but 1) I'm a lolita and 2)I've read complex age vol 1 and the original one-shot it was based on. I think it's actually pretty darn accurate from my experience (especially the ultra salty sweet lolita in the short lol) I like the fact that the main is female too, since a lot of stuff is just "look at this dude he's fat and he has 100 waifus"

The best is prob Anime Boston. NYAF got folded into NYCC, but there are some cons trying to bring back a separate Anime con. They're all kinda in their infancy though. CTCon is nothing to travel for, and a bunch of small cons in the area
