So like I was sayin' last thread, I need help figuring out good barbarian garb. Esp for Autumn and Winter.

I am pretty fit and the only exercises I can afford at this time, besides a pretty physical job, are calisthenics

Any ideas? Thanks yo

Given that time of year, going full Frazzata and running around with a loincloth and your mighty thews showing probably is not a great idea.

How about several partial layers of leather, scraps of armour and furs? Possibly over a base layer of a shirt and/or tunic for when it gets really cold and you have the option of mixing and maxing the layers for a variety of looks and climates. A fantasy Mad-Max scavanger kind of vibe.

Pic related. All the character designs in this series of games are so interesting and varied in possible technique, but no one seems to do anything from it. I've only seen one girl cosplay from this irl at the same con in different years. So I was just wondering, what do you think are some under-appreciated series that have really beautiful/cool/interesting cosplay potential /cgl/?

Oh my god, I love you, anon. The entire RF series is highly underrated. And I never see cosplay of it, ever. It's quite surprising, actually, because it seems to have a decent cult following.
>>
I haven't played Rune Factory, though the designs look really cute. But similarly I'd love to see more HM/SoS cosplays. And any older anime series.
>>
>>9577225
I know, so weird considering it's following? Irl the cosplays I saw this girl do were Electra and Marian, Electra two years ago and Marian at a con earlier this month. When I was talking to her, her boyfriend was like "wow someone actually recognised you!" which honestly made me feel pretty bad considering how much work she seemed to have put in... She also apparently had a Micah earlier in the day, but I haven't seen pictures of them yet online. My highlight of the con, hands down.

We obviously had enough to fill an entire thread so maybe there's more to discuss.

Where's the best place to get a wig commisioned and worth the price?
>>
>>9524439
Honestly, if you know any friends that have amazing wigs themselves, they're usually down for a commission and you get the benefit of a friend's attention to detail and a discount maybe, haha.
If you're looking for specific people, my friend MurtunaCaptor started doing wig commissions, and they look pretty solid.

I'm going to Japan this summer for the first time. I'll probably spend some time in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Sendai.

Things on my list so far:
- Angelic Pretty, Innocent World, BtSSB shops (i don't know which one yet)
- drug stores for japanese and korean cosmetics
- comiket
- maid cafe (@home cafe probably)
- Ghibli museum
- Tashirojima (cat island)
- deers in Nara

Ymmv about shopgirls. I had a great time in Laforet, but some other anons have said the shopgirls can be bitchy. Imo it helps if you go wearing jfash or just not looking like a slob, and maybe try using whatever japanese you know.

> cute places

I absolutely loved Swallowtail. I highly recommend going, or at least getting a dessert from the gift shop.

> comiket

BUY THE GUIDE BOOK. I managed to screw up and get a nonguide ticket because "how big can it be lol" and got lost.

I appreciate this thread! I checked /trv/ but its more male oriented, so people don't really answer about fashion/cute stuff but oh boy you better believe they can tell you where to get pussy.

I'm going in the winter and I'm looking for
foreigner friendly photo studios
I want to be dressed up in different fashions, however I'm very tall.

Wish I could help you more with looking for cute stuff OP, I'm going in a group of all guys (none of the female friends I invited can make it) who don't want to do any cute shit

I'll be damned if I'm not going clothes shopping though.

This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. "Boystyle" is shorthand for "boystyle lolita" and refers to the masculine counterparts of lolita and, often, aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. So, consider this a thread for those whose style is on the right half of Buttcape's Lolita Family Triangle: http://www.kawacura.com/moripress/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/0dmmLH6-350x350.jpg

last thread there was some discussion about how ouji works with substyles. all evidence i have found suggests that for every lolita substyle or theme, there is a complementary ouji version. here are a few examples where they occur as part of the same page or spread.

This topic has got me thinking recently and I wonder if other lolitas feel the same way. Do you guys think that groups of lolitas are shaped differently and have similar tastes because of their age and when they started the fashion, sort of like eldergoths in the gothic community? Here's a little survey to clarify what I mean:

>What year were you born in, and how old are you currently?
>What year did you start lolita, and how old were you back then?
>Were you older or younger than lolitas around that time period, or around the same age? Did you start the fashion when most lolitas your age did?
>How would you describe the scene of the fashion when you started? Trends, how communities and other lolitas acted, how the online lolita comm was, how newbies acted, etc.
>How would you describe the scene now?
>Is it highly different from when you started? Would you set yourself in a completely separate group from lolitas that started the fashion in a different period of time, and would you think your newbie days were different from how newbies act now?
>What do you think this new generation of lolitas will bring to the fashion? You can predict trends, end of eras or start of new eras, etc.

I don't think anyone has discussed this topic before anywhere, but I thought it would be interesting to discuss with other gulls and see what they think. Feel free to add anything if you like.

I forgot to mention in the second question that if you were introduced to the fashion before you started buying and wearing it, feel free to add when and how old were you when you found out about it. (And how too!)
>>
>What year were you born in, and how old are you currently?
Isn't this... basically the same question? Born 1997, 20 years old.

>What year did you start lolita, and how old were you back then?
Got into it in 2010, didn't start buying until 2013.

>Were you older or younger than lolitas around that time period, or around the same age? Did you start the fashion when most lolitas your age did?
How would I know?

>How would you describe the scene of the fashion when you started? Trends, how communities and other lolitas acted, how the online lolita comm was, how newbies acted, etc.
Everything pretty much the same as current. Probably because I haven't been in lolita for an extremely long time.

>How would you describe the scene now?
A lot more mature prints?

>Is it highly different from when you started?
Would you set yourself in a completely separate group from lolitas that started the fashion in a different period of time, and would you think your newbie days were different from how newbies act now?
No.

>What year did you start lolita, and how old were you back then?
2008, and I was 12/13

>Were you older or younger than lolitas around that time period, or around the same age? Did you start the fashion when most lolitas your age did?
They were all older, either in college or out of college. I would say the average age was 20, which isn't old but to me it seemed ancient. They all were so put together and adult to me.

>How would you describe the scene of the fashion when you started? Trends, how communities and other lolitas acted, how the online lolita comm was, how newbies acted, etc.
It was the Livejournal years, and there was a certain post format everyone followed. Newbies were usually all really young weeaboos who got into lolita from anime and used a lot of emoticons. Most discussions were mature, but this was pre-social justice, so a lot of girls bragged about how they wore lolita because it wasn't slutty like most western fashion. People actually discussed the fashion back then, people talked about brands, about sewing techniques, about the history of the fashion, the ethics of replicas. Drama back then was an open secret, since getoffegl was just one click away from the main egl community, and people openly posted there under their own usernames. You weren't shamed for openly indulging in drama communities, though there were a few people who thought all lolitas had to be lovelies, it wasn't the main opinion.

Lurked around to see if a thread was going to come up about Louisville's FandomFest, which is always a shitshow anyway, but this one takes the cake. The venue shifted to an abandoned mall, there were over thirty canceled guests, and they found a literal dead raccoon in the Macy's and put it in the only garbage can they had all weekend. This may have been understandable for a library con or something, but there were several thousand people there, enough that the fire marshals got called and people pushed out.

So, /cgl/, tell us the story of your dumpster fire con so us Louisville people might feel better about our piece of shit convention we're stuck with.
