Rei Q is the Rei that is created for their interests, not Evangelion as a whole or Rei as a character, but simply for shippers and character otaku to feel good about themselves.

Rei Q first and foremost denies the "Rei Ayanami" that was built up in 1.0 and 2.0 to ever reach any maturity or quality as a character. That is a fact, and that alone makes Rei Q unworthy of anything else but dismissal. Had Asuka fans, Kaworu fans or you had any self-respect, you would do so too. But just like Rei Q was created to please you, you have no such things and thus defend it. You even come here.

Rei Q herself is a character whose existence weakens the original Rei, where clones like that was impossible. It was explicitly stated that there was only one Rei Ayanami, and no other clones. It's introduction weakens Rei.

Then Rei Q is simply a puppet who follows orders, almost in the literal sense. She is unintelligent and entirely incapable of doing anything on her own, projecting the exact image of pathetic abjection Asuka and Kaworu fans want Rei to have. Their own favorite characters were weak and pathetic in NGE, so they want to project that onto Rei after being lured into their characters fandom by shipping and promises of safety by Anno.

Rei Q's weak image is the precise, weak and unthreatening entity they need Rei to be. One that can be looked down on and easily disregarded, while their favorite characters do the important things for themselves and others. They wish to see Rei degraded and nothing more.

Then for years, Asuka and Kaworu fans who are the most prominent shippers have claimed Rei is a clone of Yui and pretty much Shinji's mom, and 3.33 serves that bit of fanfiction to them on a silver plate. These are the facts, and you are not a Rei fan.

But as a result, even in 2.0, Rei's character is built but still lessened by the fact that it didn't continue from thereon. It was simply written out. Back in 2009 there were a vocal group of Asuka fans who complained loudly about 2.0, but it wasn't because they weren't pandered to.

These people gladly accepted the pandering, but hated on 2.0, Shinji and Rei simply because Shinji went all in to save Rei, this threatening their shipping game. Because yes, shipping means more than Asuka's actual character. This is why 3.33 is a movie made for these people, it has tons of shipping and the destruction of Rei as an enemy in a shipping context.

Asuka is a shallow piece of shit, and so are the fans of the character.
