I'm putting together a web page with a database-backed server, that'll allow browsing, tagging and discussion of images. Rei-related images.

I'll add some advanced image search functionality as well down the line.

It's sort of like booru, only a tad more modern. There will be a discussion portion as well, much like an internal imageboard.

The goal is to collect ALL the Rei images.

This webm doesn't show how it'll look in the end, the colors are just there as solids so I can easier debug and understand how the page behaves.

The central activity is the "tag bar" which will stay active and let you search. You can get a list of available tags by typing.

We all have Rei image collections, but they're not stored permanently anywhere and aren't as complete. With this we could easily see which images are more complete than others or better. Which are part of a collection, etc...

Lots of features are possible. There's also an REST-API (currently serves JSON, XML, YAML) to go with all the functionality.

As for how long it would take to collect everything, not very long is what I'd guess. There are already huge collections available, and it's a matter of scraping everything routinely from sites like pixiv to keep it up to date.

Hopefully it'll be a place for people to "author" new images as well.

Similar thing, I stopped watching that show after they spent like 3 episodes on moving a rock. Which is too bad because I liked Mikasa, she was quite Rei-like. Very no nonsense, and when things get tough she doesn't break down but gets tougher. At some point she thought the MC died and instead of breaking down keeps on. I've haven't noticed that, There are plenty of sunflowers but that comes from the series, and it's not a good association, I'm kind of glad asukafags have stolen that one along with their wholesale appropriation other Rei-signifiers since that one wasn't a possitive one in the first place. Yes, and? Quite obviously it's unhappy imagery with the context, but Rei owns it. Part of the character.

Asuka has nothing to do with sunflowers despite there being some truth in your reasoning, because even with the link to sameness and expendability, that is still just projecting Rei's thoughts onto Asuka.
