It works if you're not a total autist. Just know what you're talking about and what you wear doesn't really matter. Although my suit was also a shiny type of silver with a blue tinge, so it matched rather well.

It's one of my favorite suits, it makes me stand out in a crowd, I always get compliments in it, wore it to my first ever job interview as well, and the interviewer commented on it (said I was dressed better than the Operations Manager for the store lol) ever since, I try to wear this suit for interviews, will have to have it enlarged soon, since I'm gaining size, but yeah, its one of my favourites.
