Is Community College a meme?
I'm planning to study either marketing, business administration or network engineering.

Poorfag from Germany here therefore I cannot afford a bachelor at proper University.
>>
>>986592
Yes it's a meme.

People who go there are borderline retarded and the professors are unqualified. I thought University in Germany was free? Why do Germans always brag about Muh socialism?
>>
A German friend says that universities are free over there? And that you are able to go directly into a trade (banking, construction, programming) without and general education classes.

I desperately want to escape the Merkelland and study in United States.

Picrel are the degrees available in one of the best ranked Community Colleges in US. Which of these would be the best to choose?
>>
>>986609
Idk, what are you good at and like to do?
>>
>>986611
Anything as long as it hasn't much to do with advanced mathematics. Something involving creativity, problem solving skills and logic.

Preferably making me employable and competitive with bachelor degree holders.
>>
>>986622
Try for programming but web development?

That's your best bet then, since no math and easy to compete with bachelor degree holders because of a lot have no degree at all.
>>
>>986624
I am going to learn programming and web development from books/online. I don't need college for that.
>>
>>986592

For the majors you have specified you will want to continue your education past the 2 year degrees available at a CC and move on to a 'real' college. These can very drastically in price and quality and there are a LOT of them in US.

You're poor and foreign so I know know how much public universities will want out of you (forget private).

CC's in the US really only come into their own for vocational training.
>>
Don't listen to the retards

Community college is amazing and more people should be doing it.

I did two years and then transferred to a somewhat prestigious university. CC is dirty cheap, so I did it for practically nothing.

No one even knows you went to CC either. I don't even put it on my resume. All you see is that I graduated from my university with a bachelors of science and my cumulative GPA.

People that say that CC classes are easy are just spewing bullshit. My university classes were way easier than the CC classes.

The average class size at CC was ~30 and 100+ at university. Half of my university professors were taught by some tenured jew that didn't even show up half the time and had his grad students teach the classes

Getting out with as little debt or cost is the most important thing about college. Where you go doesn't mean shit, and that's especially true if you plan on going to graduate schol
>>
>>986638
>CC is dirty cheap, so I did it for practically nothing.

Well it's not going to be cheap for me. I'm gonna have to pay at least $30k for tuition, room, food etc.
And I won't be able to work because of F-1 visa.
>>
>>986630
>I am going to learn programming and web development from books/online. I don't need college for that.

Having at least an associates degree would help you.
>>
>>986640
>Well it's not going to be cheap for me. I'm gonna have to pay at least $30k for tuition, room, food etc

Why the fuck are you spending so much when you can go to university for free? Makes no sense...
>>
>>986644
It's an investment.
If I am going to be working in United States, I will be able to pay off that $30k in one year.
>>
>>986645
Are salaries in Germany even that bad?

Also how will you get citizenship? I'm unsure they give it for entry level jobs.
>>
>>986658
>Are salaries in Germany even that bad?

They are not, but the quality of life and freedoms are better in United States.

>Also how will you get citizenship?

Through 4 year service in US Army MAVNI program.
>>
>>986660
>They are not, but the quality of life and freedoms are better in United States.

No it's not.

Chimpanzee for president, a literal communist running for president, SJWs gone wild, chopping off your dick gets you on television as "beautiful and brave, just stunning" and much more.

>Implying it isn't the same in Western Europe.

At least you can buy a nice house in the South and AK-47 with a bucket of ammunition.
>>
>>986667
Grass is always greener senpai.

Outside of somewhat better job prospects and obviously better salaries the US isn't all that good. You could make things happen anywhere, if you really wanted to.
>>
>>986667
>Implying it isn't the same in Western Europe.

This place is slowly turning into western europe, honestly dont think its worth the trouble to relocate

>This place is slowly turning into western europe, honestly dont think its worth the trouble to relocate

This OP.

Consider that you're looking at what it's like NOW, whereas you're going to school for 2 years, then joining the US army for 4 years to get citizenship... That's 6 years down the road. A lot can change in both the US and Europe.

As much as it pains me to say this, it's probably not. America is on a downward spiral and we'll probably be in one for the foreseeable future. Obama is definitely "transforming" this country, but not in a way most real Americans like.

Not in some majors if you go for two years and then transfer to a university. You have to get good grades, though, or you are completely fucked.
>>
>>986902
Is it really that important to transfer to a university?

Ok, you are German. Go to school in germany for free. If you really want to study in the US do it as a PhD where there are ways to get paid (very little) to go to school, instead of paying tuition. (Honestly though getting a PhDs will keep you from getting rich. It can help you get a green card, but there are probably better ways.)

For everyone else, make sure the CC has a path for automatic acceptance to a 4 year school. Some states have this and some don't.
>>
>>986630
Use books/online to actually learn it, then breeze through a class and get the degree. Even if you have all the knowledge already, the degree makes you look better.

This. I'm currently pursuing AD with Computer Science and obtaining a BD later once I have some experience in entry level jobs.

Community Colleges are an efficient way to get your general studies out of the way for cheap and then transfer for a Uni to take your courses specific to your BS degree. However, just going to college for a Associate's degree is useless. Unless your community college offers trade programs, such as CDL training, HVAC, Plumbing, Welding, etc. It would be cheaper than some proprietary "HVAC School"
>>
>>986609
what's your email, i hit the CC jackpot. Super rich little area, great prices for the college, matriculation agreements with great universities in the northeast and a fantastic CS associates degree program.

any place you move they will charge you out of state tuition (i don't know what they will do to you as an immigrant).

the reason im telling you is because i need a roommate but this town is so small i can't find anybody. most of the students live with their parents.
