I'll make this quick /biz/, I'm 21 and close to inheriting around $500,000 from my father's estate in the near future.

How should I wisely invest this so I could retire early?

put it in SPY and retire now fag?
>>
Suck 500k dicks and become a millionaire!
>>
I could retire off of that much right now (barring taxes the sum may be subject to). With even a 4% return you'd see 20k a year, and that's enough to live on if it's just you. For me that would be living like a king. My advice is chuck it into an index fund and find something you enjoy to do for money as a fallback/to augment it. Really once you have that much as a single person though you should be set.

>open a forex account with all 500,000 USD
>buy the japanese yen (JPY) at 200:1 leverage
>you are now trading with 100,000,000 USD
>wait 15-20 minutes
>you should have doubled your investment by now
>take your 1,000,000 USD to a casino
>bet it all on 00
>win
>you now have 35,000,000 USD
>bet it all on 0 this time
>win
>you now have 1,225,000,000 USD
>you are now a billionaire
>pump it all into your forex account again
>buy the JPY at 200:1 leverage once more
>wait 15-20 minutes
>you should have doubled your investment by now
>you now have 2,450,000,000 USD
>look up warren buffet's stock portfolio
>copy it, scaling down to what you can afford
>won't have to do to dick for about 60 years
>congratulations, you're probably one of the 100 richest people on earth

there ya go buddy, i just planned out your entire life for ya. enjoy being a winner!

Aight, I might do that.

you're not going to get that sort of leverage with that size deposit from the typical bucketshop FX 'broker'
>>
>>980110
Move somewhere with a reasonable real estate market with integrated industry and get a job. $500,000 doesn't offer much security on a wide timeline.
>>

You'll become a trillionaire quicker by scalping on a high powered 1:1,000 leverage broker, just trade the euro with your t/p set at a pip. Do this for 100 minutes a day starting with $100 and you'll have more money than The Don within 2 years.
Taking profits to the casino is folly, the profit margin on 1,000x is higher and more reliable.

Put it all in VTI. Come back in 20 years, retire.

Alternatively, vanguard also offers retirement date funds that get safer the closer they get to the date. Pick one of those, look away until the date, retire.

Shove a good chunk into something that produces. Land, maybe. Or a semi truck and trailer so you can retire, driving around the united stated picking up cool shit and souvenirs on the road and selling it in major cities using a smartphone app or Craigslist, just living like a rambling wanderer. You won't gain a lot of job experience, but you'll get to see a lot and maybe get at the personal side of the USA.

From just five minutes of research I can tell that they can probably rebound from the energy crisis going on right now.

They have one of the largest drilling fleets in the world, have two to three years of working capital left, and they're not frantically scrapping off their fleet yet.

I would have to say that it'll probably be a good stock to pick up, as this energy lull will probably become a bull market in the next two to three years, in which the company has the working capital to maintain.
