Living with parents. Trade futures now. Had a good Summer making $20K from when I started in May til August, but I've been downhill since and lost almost $3K this month alone. When I was 19, I cleaned out a garage for somebody on Craigslist and had a bunch of floor cleaning stuff. Googled how to use them and ran a floor waxing company for almost 2 years cleaning churches and small stores. Made about $15K a month at one short moment and thought I would be set. Then I accidentally used the wrong buffer pad and rekt a gym floor. They had to replace it. Got my ass fucked cause no business license or liability insurance.

>Income
Have made $140K over the past 3 years.

>Financial goal for next 10 years
To make $1M, buy a house for $200-300K in cash, then live like a frugal NEET until I figure out what I want to do in life. I'm a high school drop out with a GED. I would like to go to school for pharmacy but I'm not smart enough. I'm only good at math, not science stuff, but math related majors bore the hell out of me. I don't want to be a miserable accountant.

Hey anon, I'm >>976685 , we seem to be in similar positions and that's my exact job title. I really enjoy it, feels like I get a birds-eye view of how all the teams interconnect. Just started implementing Chef/Puppet/etc into our enterprise suite, which is getting us a decent amount of recognition within the company.

How're things going on your end, work or otherwise?
>>
>>976690
I handle the build system for a 500 branch product suite alone. It used to be handled by 2 people, one of which had 6 years of experience (I have almost 2), so it's busy as fuck. I'd be able to do it easily if it weren't for the fact that they want me to build a new system too.

The job's good but the future's bleak.

>>976714

Do you use Jenkins or some other automation to handle it? 500 branches sounds way too intense for one person to handle manually, a single build failure can take days to fix and weeks of support to nail down the outlying cases. Our build system isn't that complex, maybe 100 total from local teams + 50 from global teams, but we have ~10 people on the Build/Release team and a larger scope of responsibilities.

As for the future, don't lose hope. I don't have much experience but from what I can see people from our positions usually do pretty well for themselves. My manager (former BRE) will likely get promoted to handle 200+ people soon, another became the lead architect for a product a while back.
>>
>>976747
We use a custom built system for automation and combine it with perforce for source code management. The company that acquired us wants us off perforce but the custom system doesn't work with anything else. Thus I have a year to convert it to Jenkins and gitlab, neither of which I've ever used. I'll be fired December 2016 when I fail, but I'll learn a whole lot along the way so employment won't be an issue.

I'll try and hook you up with useful plugins that we use. Hopefully it helps, I can answer questions you have on it.

> JobDSL plugin : Useful for creating build jobs en-masse, particularly if they all follow a similar build process. You create a template for how a job will look, then by running the job it will apply those templates to anything that fits that mold.
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Job+DSL+Plugin

> SSH Slaves Plugin : If you have spare VMs/servers, drop slave nodes on them and build a bunch of shit in parallel. Out of the box, I think Jenkins can only support 5 jobs at a time before seeing performance issues.
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/SSH+Slaves+plugin

> Parameterized Trigger Plugin : Allows for simple workflows that are kicked off as post-build actions. Can also pass along vars from one job to another, which is useful for things like build versions.
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Parameterized+Trigger+Plugin

> Matrix Authorization Strategy Plugin : You know what's better than creating all these jobs? Building a security model so that the devs can build their own shit without bothering you. This will allow for a rigorous security model with a lot of flexibility, whether the user privileges are by job, tab or for all of Jenkins.
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Matrix+Authorization+Strategy+Plugin

As for Gitlab, it's basically the same as Git with a few organizational differences and a stronger security model. If you know a command in Git, it should work with Gitlab as well. The hard part is understanding what's going on behind the scenes, but that's more than I can reasonably cover in a 4chan post. There are also Jenkins plugins for Git/Gitlab and your artifact/build repo of choice (we use Artifactory to store the resulting packages from our builds).

Use YouTube it's what I did. And that cheap little buffer is shit and would take you hours. Get a commercial one. Search around on Craigslist.

I started with churches and family/friends recommended me at the places they worked. Also run a survey, go around to random businesses asking if they hire janitor, how much they pay, are they happy with it, etc. And then you can determine which ones are worth calling. Price varies. I charge churches $2,000 a month to clean floors once a week. Some places I just cut 10-20% off of what they are paying a competitor.

Not including bonuses of course.

>Monthly reporting statement - I make 20% on overall PNL
>>
>>979862

Can you give me a rundown of how you earn so much with affiliate marketing? Impressive numbers.
>>
>>979976
You need to choose a product that allows you to sign a deal which, in effect, gives you a monthly bonus on top of your CPA values based on the revenues of the businesses you are marketing for.

As a baseline, I start with 200USD per client I bring for the first week, and it goes as high as 500. Bringing 5 clients per day this way nets me ~2500 net.

On top of that, you can barter your way into having a piece of the revenue, especially if you are bringing them great clients.

I am not in the casino industry, but using that as an example - when a player deposits funds, I get the initial 250-500USD. If that player ends up depositing and losing 10,000USD over the course of 3 months, I get paid 20% of that on that one client.

Generally I try to bring in at least 5 new clients per day (lets underestimate and call this 1000USD per work day, 22k per month).

My average client value to the company I am contracted with is generally around 2000USD over a thre-month period, therefore on each client I make around 700USD every 3 months, averaging out to 233 per month per client, 110 clients per month - 25k per month including bonuses.

This does not count groomed clients who may bring in large values of 50k+, deals are usually separate on those with bonuses reaching above 55% to the affiliate in some cases.
>>
>>979976
I only started doing this in January - my current net worth is so high because I have brought the company three 500k+ clients which made me get huge bonuses early on.

1. If you don't mind divulging, what sort of industry are you in and what product/service are you marketing?
2. How are you getting into contact with these prospective clients?
3. What is your primary means of communication with these clients? Email, phone or a combination of both?

The industry I am in is a really tight, controlled form of alternative online gaming. I really can't get into it because people on this board will crush me with questions (people talk about it all the time here).

In terms of affiliation, your clients will be various companies. You can use email/skype/phone to start out when dealing with companies for initial contact, however when you get beyond 5-10 conversions per month (you are bringing in at least 1500USD per month at this point), you will be expected to make an in-person visit to discuss certain aspects of your affiliation practices. Opening the requisite companies in the countries you are working in for visa/residency permits etc. will run you up to 4000USD up front per interest, with ongoing expenses going up from there, but the money is well worth it.

I am forced to travel internationally up to 4 times per month just to renegotiate contracts and secure systems that use my leads (many sales companies have absolutely no security on their systems, it is in my interest to improve this at no cost - very easy for people to steal leads from systems).

My primary communications with corporate clients is over Skype, phone, or in person.

>>Income
Gross?
$55,000/year (salary)
$16,000/year (rental, my share)

>>Financial goal for next 10 years
Fully fund my retirement, assume control of my parents' property holdings once they croak, probably get in on my developer friend's parking lot plan in the city, fund geological exploration for my family's property in the Midwest to see if there are any natural resources underneath (after I Jew it out of my competitors for their assets in the will aka siblings. Nothing to see here goys, just some dusty old acres of infertile farmland).

Invent and implant a chip in my brain that will violently activate if I ever have the urge to get married, have a family, and live in a mcmansion.

I don't want to sound patronizing, but
>net worth= all assets-all liabilities
This means your bank account, car, house, old paintings, and jar of cum in your drawer factor in.
