hi i'm a /fa user on a /biz/ness trip

As a poorfag, I feel bad when I see your post because, although we can talk to each other over the internet, there's probably no chance we'd ever meet irl. The internet is the great equalizer; you don't have to pay to go on a forum to discuss javanese clay sculptures. But usually people from our classes wouldn't interact because we live in different neighborhoods.

How do you feel about gentrification?

Investments in 2006-2009, then after that, opened/bought some businesses with the income coming in, and since then been growing a lot. Last year in total we did over $20M in revenue.

>>965698

Not self made, parents could have bought a $1.5M house in 2007-2008, decided to only buy in 2009 and we already realized there was a collapse so we bought a $400k house instead and invested the rest. Parents also make a good amount of money from their jobs (they used too, now they don't work).

The 1% isn't too rare, the qualifying mark is around 320k for a household. If you have 2 parents working as either a lawyer or an senior engineer, you have better odds of being in a 1% household than not.

The 90% of the 1 percent are pretty average - high upper class, but not the ultra high networthers. I'd say the really interesting ones are the 0.01 percent, they have yachts with onboard submarines and helicopters, castles in the fench alps and million dollar bottles of vintage wines. I doubt OP falls into this category though.

This was a huge factor for sure in the beginning.

>>965762

Luck has a lot to do with it, but after you get to a certain level (relatively low) then you can start doing things without luck, and just your IQ.

>>965763

We don't need a mansion, and in my city these are the most expensive houses anyways. There are ones that are $15M or more but only 4-5 of them, and this house is already 4000 sq ft not counting the basement.

>>965765

Thanks.

>>965773

Sure.

>>965795

Anyone can buy a Lambo at any net worth, but it costs around $1.50 to run the Lambo per mile you drive. So if you're driving it a lot you will pay more for maintenance, and as long as you can afford that, you're fine.

>>965800

I don't care that I'm rich, its just that if I posted a pic of a Toyota Camry you wouldn't believe me LOL. This is the quickest and easiest way to prove I'm wealthy.

>>965803

This is true, we literally have nothing to do all day, and we work maybe 2-3 hours daily, and that's full of 20 minute breaks. Once you're wealthy you just collect money from people that owe it to you, and that's about it.

>>965809

Take the education and go and do well in it, so you can use it to get a good job that can allow you to build capital and invest that capital properly.

>>965825

We always know exactly what we're doing, and some people believe the more you give the more you get.

>>965833

I'm the one that chose which investments, which businesses, and what to do in the grand scheme of things, but they provided the BEGINNING capital. Now everything is do able without their input.

>>965865

Never said my house was a mansion.

>>965884

Stay in school, finish college or university, and get a job, save as much as possible even if you have to live with your parents, and get them to understand what you're doing and see if they'll help by saving too. Then learn and invest or trade. You can do drugs if you want, but try to do drugs only when you've saved $5000, then $10000 etc.

>>965888

I don't live in a big expensive extravagant city, I live 1-2 hours away from one, in a suburb. We couldn't afford a city house back then, so we bought the nearest we could.

>>965933

Get a job, or take a loan from the bank, if you believe in your product you shouldn't care about interest rates or going into a little debt.

>>965970

No, not flaunt it, but I do it subtlety. Like, going shopping I'll carry $5000 with me or something, and just pay in cash or use a very special credit card.

>>966013

Best neighbourhood in my city.

>>966000

The amount you spend on your house does not dictate how much you're worth or how much you're making, I could live in a $100k apartment if I wanted and still be this successful.

>>966090

What do you mean? The Lambo? The license plate is held on using industrial grade Velcro because I did not want to drill holes into my bumper, the day I bought it, I bought a brand new bumper as well, because I hate having plates on the front.

As suspected, it appears that you invested at the right place at the right time. Possibly with leverage. It not, have you ever effectively replicated the kind of returns that put you on the map? Also, what if your speculation went wrong? How far in the hole would you be?

Also, how much of your networth is tied up in your business relative to your investments?

Do you really enjoy your cars that much? I'm far from frugal but I think they're one of the worst liabilities when they lack functionality and you collect them for the sake of beefing up your garage.

Is there some sort of exotic car culture within your circle of friends that makes it worthwhile? Or do you just really, honestly enjoy having them around?

I'm in the lower class with the ambition of becoming wealthy. I honestly don't see myself owning more than one car, and even then it would be a luxury one instead of an exotic one. Maybe what maintains satisfaction for me is different for you, I'm just wondering if you buy cars as an excuse to spend your money or if you take actual value from it.

I enjoy my cars a lot, I'm a part of a few groups, and we cruise around often. Couple people honestly only talk to me to suck my dick basically, lol. Also, I don't collect many cars, I only own 1 or 2 at a time, and I trade the others in for whatever I'm feeling next.

Yes, there's a huge exotic car culture, but not among my close friends, mainly people I met after buying my Lamborghini, who became my 'friends'. I have gained a few worthwhile friends though, ever since I got 'rich'.

I take actual value from my cars, I love waking up to them, going for a drive, and just being happy I guess, it's also always fun when I see people posing for pictures in front of my cars.
>>
>>966348

People do this to me all the time, they ask me to get season pass tickets, or when I take someone out they expect me to pay for their coffees or whatever. It's nice to know that no matter how rich OP is, he will still never look as good as me and he will never be of the white master race.
>>
>>966348
Rich people are the least generous, on average. Multiple sociological studies have confirmed this.

>This is not a townhouse, my house is worth $1.05M right now.

Man, around here, that wouldn't even place you in the middle class.
>>
>>967816
Get some self-respect faggot. OP has less money than you, and still you're begging.

Be a man.

what drives people to waste their time pretending to be rich when they literally get no worthwhile gain from it

What's the 1%'s relationship with classical music?

Can't really imagine a used car millionaire from Tempe Arizona being particularly cultured. Who is?
>>
if I was a 1%er i certainly would not drive around in a little sports car. I'd drive around in a Cadillac escalade or something similar. Something big and safe.

Well if you want some new parts...
>>
>>968438
How the crash happened is more important than the cars involved when looking at damage. Anyway, if you wanted to be safe you could just buy a big old jeep or ford f350 and fit a steel bumper on it.

You didn't get what I was going at...

I'm poor as fuck but I was just at the Walt Disney Concert Hall last night to see Yuja Wang and the LA Phil.

I know some people at Segerstrom so I get free tickets about once a week. The LA Phil I had to drop some money on.

I've seen probably 50+ classical concerts and I'm 23. I see a lot of white man/asian woman combos at the shows, like way more than is normally out and about.

It's a lot of fancy old people.

Buckle down and buckle up your buckeroos, buckowskis.

>my house is worth $1.05M right now.

HAHAAH! That's not even a middle class home where I live. Shacks are worth that little.

You're poor as shit.

>Not self made
Then this thread is pointless. You're rich, and that's great, but there's nothing of value we can learn from you.

What is the point of this thread beyond gloating?
>>
>>968474
Neat.

I'd guess the WM/AF is largely down to tigermom influence on the girls.
Also a disproportionate number of asians in conservatories, but not a majority = melting pot.
>>
>>965686
congrats on buying a car that's worth more than your house i guess

>(they used too, now they don't work).
>too

Buy some fucking books, you monkey.
>>

Probably just a West coast thing.
At one point the 5 couples I was closest to in LA were all that combo. Doesn't seem to be anywhere near as common outside of the Cali coast, though.
