Can someone explain cryptobux to a newfag? It's basically like the dotcom boom of the 90s right? Like 99% of these currencies are going to fail right.

This time is different

It's a massive Chinese pump and dump scheme
>>
>>2561369
yea but the 1% surviving will be fucking YUGE
>>
>>2561388
So bitcoin and maybe 1 or 2 others will survive

So at this point the only wise investments would be to buy $10 of all the worthless ones, or start an exchange.

I could honestly see this.

That's basically the feeling I get too. The way I see it, any coin with a marginal feature that can reasonably be added to bitcoin (even with all the politics) will be worth 0. I think BTC and ETH will stay 1 and 2 unless there's another coin with a high potential feature. Crypto still has a long way to go imo; there's still no "killer app" and there's still a lot of friction involved with purchasing coins.

If there's panic, it's very possible. Most crypto investors do not believe in alts as much as bitcoin, because they are sold on the idea of blockchain but not necessarily the current valuations.

However, there are many use cases for crypto's. Currency, dApps, transactions, etc. Anywhere that transparency, trustless, and public is good (i.e. a LOT of uses).

The alts are like seed/round A funding for venture capital, except anyone can buy in. This means a lot of dumb money is funding certain alts (kind of like how scammy kickstarter is most of the time).

If you are a smart investor and pick very solid projects, that alt coin is much more likely to weather any hard times. The ROI is far greater than anything accessible to 99.9% of people, but the risks associated are also far greater than most.

As far as "killer apps" go, if you mean huge public adoption there probably won't be much that the public actually knows about. Blockchains work on the backbone of projects; they are more like building the App Store than they are like Angry Birds (and that's a really good thing long term).

If you think it's a bubble, you better get that misconception straight. This guy's got some views on this shiz. ->
