If I know a company is going public soon is there any way to profit out of this?
You could buy the IPO, but that doesn't mean you'll make a profit.

yes it does what is it so we can all make money
Do you work for the company?
A place I worked at in the past went public and they offered the employees the ability to buy at a discount prior to the IPO.

If you buy @ ipo make sure to sell at the end of the day/2 days later.

There is virtually no way for you to get shares of the stock pre-IPO unless you're an employee and the company grants stock/options to its employees. You could try to formulate a strategy involving public stocks in the same industry though or companies that are directly involved with the subject company (suppliers, customers, etc.). Like the company having its IPO could be an indicator of strong investment activity in the sector, which could be good for other companies. Or a major supplier to the company could see a price boost if the IPO indicates increased production.

You missed the profit boat if you invest in companies going into IPO. Expect slow growth.

The fact that he knows that the company is going public prior to IPO announcement doesn't help him though
