I know this isn't /adv/ but I need some major help on this.
I'm a sales engineer (for those of you that don't know what that is, I make technical evaluations of a customer's needs and provide products solutions/pricing) and one of the execs in my company is constantly discounting everything.
He's not involved with sales, at all, and has no sales training. He is the product manager for the products I sell. He consistently offers discounts to customers, without consulting me. Sometimes these discounts are 50-75% off the base price.
5-10% is okay, if a customer really fights. But fucking 50-75% is absolutely insane.
How the fuck do I handle this?

Uh. Talk to him directly (in private) and ask him to stop.
Jesus dude you really needed to come to /biz/ to answer this?

Talk to him and explain the problem.
Alternatively, bring the matter up to your direct supervisor.
Do you even have a job?

>sales engineer
>"I make technical evaluations of a customer's needs and provide products solutions/pricing"
how do people get away with this
>>1763722
Well if he has the authority to do it then maybe he has a good reason. Other anons say speak to him. I assume you've done that because it's so obvious. How did the conversation go?

Also this.
I'm a salesman and I hate when salesmen church up their title.
If you sell a product or service you are a salesman.

Territory manager
Product consultant
