It turns out I was supposed to buy a stock or something at some point. I have $70k in cash in my 401k. What do?

Most companies auto-enroll you, although not in the best plan. Contact your HR dept and get a list of plans available then do your research on which one has the best track record.
1. You fucked up. Don't do it again.
2. 401k's are self-serve. If you don't learn how to use them, you're gonna continue fucking up.
3. No one can advise you what to invest in without knowing your options. Every 401k has different investment choices unique to the administrator operating your plan. We can't read your mind.

A lot have an option to enroll you in a plan that gets safer the closer to your target (retirement) date. That's probably the simplest way to go. Look around your 401k's website and google whatever terms you don't recognize.
Why the fuck are you asking us? This is probably the absolute worst place for advice ever.

buy monero

Don't buy now, they markets are at an all high time. It will take years if not decades to recover your capital. Wait for a crash then put your money into some sort of SP500 tracking fund.

terrible advice

If its going to crash and at an all time high, wouldn't it be better to put his money into an ETF that bets against S&P or NASDAQ?

this is hilarious, please tell me you've been contributing to your 401k for 10 years and don't own a single stock, it's just cash
please tell me this is true
