Recently I had a lot of my money invested into ethereum before I knew about RobinHood.
Now that I know about RobinHood i'm thinking about splitting my ETH and using the rest for trading.
I have a total of 30k, i'm in college right now (20yrs old) but will have to pay 10k a year starting august to afford college.
I want to keep 5k for emergency, and invest between 5-25k before august in hopes of being able to have some kind of financial freedom entering fall semester.
ETH is very stable and will go up long-term, but I want to be able to trade now that i've found RH.

Does anyone have any financial advice?
Keep all 30k in a savings account and wait until I take some finance classes?
Invest 10k, and keep 20k?

What do you fabulous fellas think I should do?

A lot of the advice on here seems pretty good, obviously a lot of it is shilly, but the more i've been looking into the stock market and RH it seems 1000x more profitable than a big cryptocurrency like ETH.

In absolute disaster worse case scenario if I somehow lost every dime I put into stocks (the 10k) I would have to use student loans to afford my last year of college. Which isn't horrible but not ideal.

You already have that money encumbered to other expenses, so don't dip into those. Just use a little to test the waters, especially if you are new to trading. You'll most likely end up doing swing trading at the beginning, so you'll buy a dip, and then wait a little bit, and sell at a small peak, which can takes a few days to a few weeks, so you don't want this to be money that you need.

I'd say test the waters with no more than a few hundred and see how well you can handle it. Get acquainted with the interface. Read up on definitions, so you can at least understand some of the jargon you see on their interface. Then increase your amount.

Try not to fall for the memes here. Unless you understand why people are shilling stocks, go with companies you understand first, even if they aren't going to be flat out moon missions.

Or you can invest in MNKD AND GO TO THE MAAARRRRSSS!

Rookie here, shilling for my stock SPWR. Its basically a company that provides solar products and services for residential, commercial and power plant applications. With the recent collapse in energy prices, the solar sector is getting skull fucked and that leaves us with a heavy buying oppurtunity. The solar industry is essentially construction. The panels are purchased from China, then it just takes some semi-skilled labor to drive them, install them and some electricians to wire them.

Very low barriers to entry, literally any company can do this. Home Depot or Lowes could start to stock panels and offer to install them and that'd gut any competitor's retail business.

You are right that it's in a slump, but there is no money to be made in the solar industry. Not yet anyways.

No as long as your stocks don't plummet but otherwise there are things called margin maintenance and margin calls. If your account reaches a certain point deemed dangerous for the amount of money you've borrowed it'll say you've reached margin maintenance and are in threat of having a margin call.

If you have a margin call (on Robinhood I know for sure) you can't trade any stocks that day and must either sell stocks or deposit money to reach whatever the "safe" area is for your account.

I'd recommend margin trading only if you know pretty well that the risk for a stock is low. Otherwise you risk getting shitted on pretty badly.
