My wife is pregnant and worries about our financial future when the baby arrives, what is your opinion is she being a overly worrisome? what are some ways to better our situation financially?

Your wife sounds spoiled as fuck if she doesn't realize how better off that baby is compared to most.
You guys will be fine.

doing pretty good
if your job has a 401k you should at least put in what they will match since it is free money and you don't have to pay taxes on what you put in.
if your job doesn't have a 401k another option is opening an HSA account if you have a high deductible insurance policy. You can then deduct your HSA contributions up to the yearly amount on your taxes. Everyone has medical costs later on in life so you only benefit from using them.

Is it too late to abort the pregnancy?
Your wife could divorce you and use the child for leverage to get better payments and alimony. She might need to disappear entirely

Where do you live that a house is only $200k?
>>1758690
Northwest Indiana
>inb4 Gary
We live in a very safe area

Also we actually only paid 175k for our new house but we had 5k in closing costs
That brings up something else I wanted to ask about.
Our assessor said our house is worth about 20k less than comparables in the neighborhood because our upgrades were "average" I didn't feel like mortgaging 30 years for superfluous items when we built the house. What would be the best way to build more equity in the house. Should I invest in finishing basement. I could take our 1500sq ft to 2200sq ft
