Is this a blazer or a suit? And also what is the difference? I'm going to an interview and need to know if this will suffice.

a suit and a blazer are the same thing
a suit just has matching pants, put on different color pants and it's a blazer.

A blazer is just the jacket.
A suit is a matching jacket, trousers and, if it's a 3-piece suit, a waistcoat.
You should own at least a couple of suits (i.e. matching jackets and trousers)
That's not really true though. If you wear the wrong suit jacket with jeans you will look like an idiot. But you can wear any blazer with jeans.

You wear a coat over your jacket outside to keep you warm.
Is English not your first language by any chance?

I think he meant coat ws in sport coat, which is often used interchangeably with jacket or blazer. A sport coat is traditionally on the more casual side
I go to interview wearing that.
I'm working in IT, I was in industrial fields and I was already overdress. Like people I met was wearing a shirt at best, but shit one with no fucking fashion sense.
Now I'm trying to get into finance, big data and more service oriented fields, and feel like I'm not overdress since I'm wearing the same outfits of people I meet, but maybe I'm under dress and I should wearing a tie and a suit just to play the game of interview by its rules...
A suit jacket (sometimes called a jacket or a suit coat) is done in a formal cut in traditional fabrics, and always with a matching pair of pants in the same fabric (suit jacket + suit pants = suit). They are always worn together. Almost always paired with a solid dress shirt, or maybe a very subtle stripe. Always worn with a tie, except for extreme edgelords and scotch advertisements.
A blazer is also done in a formal cut usually in traditional fabrics, but is designed to be worn with a variety of pants or slacks. Could be paired with jeans, but only classic cut jeans and only with dress shoes. The most common example is the classic blue blazer. Can be worn with solid shirts, stripes and patterns, but usually still with a formal cut and collar. and Can be worn with or without a tie; both are perfectly acceptable.
>pic related is a BAD look because it's a formal cut traditional jacket (with a tie and pocket square no less) paired with shitty jeans and bad shoes.
A sport coat is done in a relaxed style, often in more playful fabrics and styles. Can be work with any pants, including informal jeans. Can be paired with almost any short, cut or pattern, even including golf shirts and high-quality t-shirts (edgy). Generally not worn with a tie, unless you're trying to look like a 13-year-old playing dress up.

That's a suit.
A blazer is a style of jacket. It is similar to the type of jacket that would commonly be worn with a suit, but there are differences.
For example, blazers may be in less traditional colours, like red or green, may be in a thicker fabric, and they often have brass or other metal buttons. Suit jackets almost never have metal buttons. Blazers are sometimes part of a uniform, for example at private schools or fancy clubs.
