Some YouTuber, her whole start was literally "one year of shameless self promotion", her channel name is Shameless-Something. I think the only useful content she makes is makeup tutorials, but most of what she does is just vlogging. Literally just talking about herself.

Last I checked she had over 800,000 subscribers and damn near 100% view rates on her videos. She's earning, at minimum, several hundred thousand dollars a year for almost literally just existing.

You gotta build a little sales pitch, i.e. make a little website with some demos: narration, funny ad, serious ad, movie trailer, singing, basically examples of what you do. Then get on the phone and get on email.

Directors/producers that are actually legit and making stuff

Just pitch 1000 times and try to get some work. Short and sweet each time.

You can get several hundred dollars for a few minutes work. Thousands even. Just gotta win somebody over then deliver the work.

Is he the best actor? Maybe not, but he professionally put forth the effort and put together a site that works. That's something I saw first hand many many times. People that were extremely talented who did not put forth all the pitches that were needed to get work. It's identical to cold calling. A dozen no's for one yes.

Lotsa of people that enter entertainment don't get that it's a business like any other. Talent and ideas count for nothing. Just act professional, present a professional idea, and pitch pitch pitch.
