Any tradesmen here? Is it really the golden ticket it seems to be? Making money without the college fad? I am going to get an electrician apprenticeship. What are your experiences in the trades?

3rd year electrical apprentice here. I mainly work out of a workshop, building switchboards for mines. Ill occasionally go out to a mine site to do some work.
I enjoy it and because I work in the mining industry, it pays quite well.

What do you want to ask?

Im Australian BTW

Is it really that hard on your body? How much do you earn? Is it worth it? What other trade would you recommend?
>>
>>1729449
It is a little hard, i dont want to be doing it at 50...but it is possible to keep doing. I earn 130k per year for shift work that is above average though and i am a supervisor. Yeah its worth it but dont look at as a life long job....but as a stepping stone, hence the study.

The work I do isnt hard on my body at all.
Im hopefully going to study engineering next year at trade school. Straight out of the apprenticeship ill be on ~100K
I wouldnt have done any other trade

Where are you from, Man?

Im 21 and I'm earning 13 dollars an hour at a warehouse but I'm also looking for other options. What other trades would you recommend?

Wow electrician work sounds like a good gig...
>>
>>1729470
So all of you are making 6 figures straight after the apprenticeship? Damn...

It really depends what area you work in. Domestic electrical work (houses) is boring, hard on your body and pays like shit unless you start your own business.
I have it good where I am.
>>
>>1729412
Where do you meet women if not at college?
>>
>>1729466
Only hard thing about electrician work is pulling wire through conduit. It's like, 20 minutes of hard-ass work for every 2 hours of derping around with splices and shit.
